I have been having a weekly breakfast there for a couple of years. The staff are very good and friendly, but It is no longer a good filling breakfast. Over the last year the portions of home fries have decreased in size considerably. Breakfast last week was slow, the eggs over easy were closer to over medium, the whole meal was cold when served and the toast was dry and hard. I hate to change but I am now looking for a convenient diner that gives you value for money and food cooked right and served hot. read more

Staff usually friendly and knowledgeable. Quick service. Has been known during morning rush especially on Saturday & Sunday they will seat you as soon as possible, but you might wait a bit for prompt service and food delivery. If hostess is not busy they will usually at least get your drink order. The food is delicious. We haven't had anything that wasn't prepared correctly or just was awful tasting. I found this gem driving through a shopping mall area. I was hungry. We stopped in without expectations but were amazed at the service by server Toni and the quality and quantity of food provided. Chicken quesadilla was one of the best I've ever eaten and server Toni was warm, gracious and competent. She said, "If you come in often, you'll feel like family". If you like home cooked food, not the cookie cutter franchise food this is your place. The food always seems to be good, the staff is friendly and quick. It's not a fancy place but a typical family friendly restaurant. Casual but with some variety of foods on the menu. They also have a seating area for groups. I ordered the Ribeye Steak Sandwhich medium rare which came with fries and a small side of Cole Slaw. The sandwich was huge, cooked perfectly but was a bit fatty but flavorful. Ditch the bun as it just became way to soggy to eat. The fries were good, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside and i ordered a side of brown gravey for dipping. The coleslaw which I hear is made in house is some of the best ive ever had, creamy, sweet and just good. Tourist town dinner. This one locals goto. Sunday morning and this place is packed with people. Service was quick and friendly. Fully staffed! I have not been in this place in 20 plus years. This place sits in a strip mall. Parking is not a problem. Prices for the most part are reasonable. And the place looks clean and comfortable. I'm not really a breakfast person. Eggs and pancakes etc are not me. I can be very picky on what and how I order. My meal came out exactly as I ordered it. I wish there was more to it. But in fairness I really didn't need it. Let's put this into time a time line we got to the restaurant at 11:45 was seated and ordered by 12:00. We did not get our food till 1:30. Which gave us 30 minutes to eat since we had a meeting at 3 pm and had an hour drive. The food was edible and that is the best I can say. This is a cute little restaurant in a little shopping center. We went here on a suggestion from my mother, who we spent a few days visiting after our vehicle died on us. I liked the cheeseburger I had. My wife and mother both liked the turkey club sandwich. Their fries were very good as well. My wife and I went back the next day to try some soups and desserts. We liked the vegetable beef soup as well as the mozzarella sticks (but are not fans of restaurants putting them on beds of shredded lettuce). My wife loved her big slice of cheesecake, while I thought the lemon meringue pie was just "meh". I would order something different next time... and there will be a next time for sure. read more

We arrived on a Saturday morning around 8 am. Plenty of seating available and a side dining area that can hold larger groups. We were headed to Hershey park that morning, thought we'd get a quick Breakfast and be on our way. No Way! If you have all day to wait 40 minutes to scramble eggs and make pancakes - Fine. With a 6 year old in tow that doesn't work. Sometimes it's the little details that count. Where was the hostess? Not at her station. Some tables had place mats and water brought over right away; others no. Ours was one of them. I can eat my food with only a knife and spoon, but I prefer a fork as well. The kitchen was very slow. It appeared there were only 2 guys in there. There were plenty of waitstaff, though. We were just about to leave pay for the coffee, when our orders came 40 minutes after we ordered them. I ordered soft scrambled eggs. Browned is NOT soft. The hash browns were so-so at best. We ate, got the check and left. In less time it took for the food to come. If it wasn't for the child, we didn't want a scene, we would have been gone in 15 minutes! Considering there were other restaurants in the strip mall I can't understand why this place was so busy. I had a mixed experience here. My brother in law comes to Gettysburg every couple of years so we came with him and my sister this year. They love Gettysburg Family Restaurant. The waitresses didn't seem very friendly but we did get what we wanted. My husband was so not happy about the chipped beef as it was way too salt for him. He ate it all but he was not happy about it. My family and I loved the scrapple. It doesn't sound like it'd be good but it's soooo good! It's like a sausage meat loaf. read more
