This is a fantastic breakfast--and probably lunch--restaurant. We visited Gettysburg for three days and ate breakfast here twice (we arrived too late on our first day). The service was outstanding, and everyone's meal was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was spotless, including the restrooms, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Both mornings our server even asked if we'd like beverages to go, which was a thoughtful touch. I only wish we had a HoneyBee where we live. We'll definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family visiting Gettysburg. It's easily one of the best breakfast restaurants I've ever been to--and I've been to a lot! This was my first visit to Honeybees Restaurant, it having been a well-known hot dog store for many decades. Recently expanded (doubled in size) Honeybee is a nice addition to downtown Gettysburg. I went at 10AM on a sunny Saturday morning in late March when the tourists were in full bloom (ie a plethora of visitors), thus had to wait for approximately 15 minutes to be seated. The were about 8 people standing inside near the entrance when I immediately acknowledged by a staff member who took my name and said that it would be about a 30 minute wait. Every single table was occupied which I like to see in a small downtown business. What impressed me was that despite the hustling due to the amount of customers, every single employee smiled at some point including the college-age servers. (I say that because I am acclimated and conditioned to seeing employees who are resentful that they have employment.) Anyway, I was seated about 4 feet from the front entrance and it was a brisk 33 degrees outside, thus every time someone entered or exited, I received a highly invigorating arctic blast of fresh air. As soon as the previous guests stood up and meandered toward the front door, 2 employees proceeded to wipe off the table and seats which I thought was great except that my bum was subsequently dampened by the still wet seat. My order was taken promptly. I chose the egg white omelet with breakfast potatoes and whole wheat toast. The table had packets of jelley; I recall seeing grape, blackberry, and raspberry. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the order to arrive which was understandable due to every seat being occupied. Our young server, Kaitlin, was sufficiently attentive. My omelet was hot and tasty, and the serving size more than adequate. Kaitlin brought the check which she took to the register. A QR code on the bill option for payment would have been nice. I didn't take many indoor photos because I avoid posting a plethora of people's faces in my reviews if at all possible. Meter parking is available in downtown Gettysburg and please remember to feed the meters as parking violations are rigidly enforced in our historic borough. In summary, I rated Honeybees a 5 star and shall return. Know that they do take reservations and offer take out orders. Do check it out! read more

I highly suggest checking out this place for brunch or lunch. I was visiting my grandma over the weekend, and wanted to treat her for a mother's day lunch at a restaurant we have not been to before. I checked out The Honeybee online, and saw reviews about how the food is good, inexpensive, and large portions. Well sure enough these reviews were correct. However, before I get into the food, I want to highlight how amazing their customer service is. Every single person we met here were so sweet, and just lovely to talk to. My grandma has difficulty walking and has to use a walker. Well the restaurant has two steps you have to climb, my grandma was struggling to get up, and I was struggling to help her, carry up her walker, and hold the door. Within 30 seconds, 3 employees, and the owner came rushing over and were incredibly helpful. They were so sweet to us and let us pick any table and immediately treated us with water, and friendly conversation. Now for food, I got the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of sausage links. My grandma got a cheese burger and fries. She told me she never craves burgers but she something about this one stood out to her. She said it was so delicious, and especially loved the bun they used. She was able to take it home, as her burger was massive. My pancake was perfect, and the sausage links were steaming, and a great addition to my pancake. Both of our meals were less than $11 each. I cannot emphasize enough to come check them out, you will not be disappointed! read more

It may look dark from the street but inside is a charming old fashioned interior that is so inviting. The serve came up immediately with water and coffee. After giving us an opportunity to study the extensive breakfast menu. I ordered the breakfast skillet of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy topped with cheese, and home fries. The biscuits were light fluffy and ENORMOUS. The sausage gravy was perfect. I wasn't sure about the cheese on top but it was a tasty addition to the flavor. My friend ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, and opted for the fruit bowl rather than home fries. Everything was delicious and the fruit was so fresh which, in March, is hard to do. What a lovely gem in historic Gettysburg, PA. First off great vibes... part diner and part sit -down restaurant. It felt very homey and relaxed. Service was efficient and friendly. My sister, niece and I had a lovely girls lunch recently. The menu is varied but not overwhelming. This is a breakfast/lunch spot with a nod to a Greek diner... lots of Greek options, normal breakfast fare and sandwiches. We sampled a typical breakfast of pancakes with bacon which was very good. Pancakes were fluffy and bacon crisp. Coffee is a huge disappointment however, it is very, very weak. Two of us sampled the Greek specialties... a gyro and a chicken souvlaki. Both were disappointing -- there was plenty of meat in both but chicken seriously under seasoned and not grilled much. The sandwiches, which typically have sliced onions and tomato salad, were lacking that crunch and acidity. Instead, they were covered in a very thick tzatziki. Again, the tzatziki lacked seasoning . It was way too thick, no discernible cucumbers or dill. Fries were outstanding. We shared a huge baklava which was delicious. Happy to give it another try because of the staff, location , vibe and baklava! read more

Disappointing experience at Honeybee Restaurant. My salad was, frankly, lazy--two uncut chicken strips laid on top, a handful of uncut cherry tomatoes, oversized shavings of carrot, and what felt like a quarter of a raw white onion tossed in. I don't expect to have to cut a salad at a restaurant. Someone else in our group ordered a burger that was forgettable at best. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy, only to be told 10 minutes later that they were out--forcing her to choose something else entirely. Worse than the food, though, was the service. Our waitress didn't seem remotely interested in being there--no warmth, no attentiveness, and no effort to make the experience enjoyable. All in all, we won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend Honeybee to others. There are better options in Gettysburg. read more

Honeybee is super cute, has a good diverse menu, and is a good place to stop for a bite when in Gettysburg. The location is central to lots of shopping. I appreciated the Gluten free bread option so my husband could have a burger. The downside- the wait for food is long, and you may get your food 5 minutes before or after others at your table. (Happened to us and other tables.) We ordered chicken tenders which were OK, but the crust was just a little "off"- like a tad overcooked and crumbly vs crunchy. I got the cheesecake stuffed French toast, which really is huge and rich- better as a dessert. read more

I've enjoyed Honeybee's breakfast on our trip to Gettysburg twice now. As a finicky pregnant woman, I have been taking my meals and whether I like them very seriously as of late. Our first time, we ate in the restaurant on a Tuesday morning and it was easy to get a seat at the bar. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who promptly got us waters without even asking. My husband ordered the country scramble and I got the avocado toast with egg. While I expected the veggies to be ON the bagel, the food itself was filling and the customer service was top notch. Also, not for nothing, the restaurant was so clean! Not always something you expect in a diner type environment. Well, the morning power bowl looked so good I ordered it to our hotel this morning just for me. OUT OF THIS WORLD. I could eat this every day. The fruit is actually fresh and the portion is filling. I got it with an English muffin instead of a bagel and I now will need to try to recreate this masterpiece once we get back home. As far as the delivery, everything was packaged very nicely in a cute little bag with utensils, napkins and wipes. Great for staying at a hotel. Disappointed. We went on a busy Saturday for a later breakfast. We waited for a bit until we could get a seat, and that was fine. But our coffee mug had syrup all over the handle. We never did get someone to help us with that until much later. The food was just ok and was overpriced for what it was. We had very slow service and we saw our waitress maybe three times during our visit, even though there were lots of other staff milling around. It took forever to get our bill and pay. The building itself was really neat, but it was loud and we were near the door so it was freezing every time it opened.
