If your in town this place is a must stop and you have to at least try the crab dip. This is a fun bar that has a fireman theme. Overall clean and lots of seating. The service was great. The food came out quick. They accommodated 20 of us. There is plenty to choose from on the menu from a steak to a burger. The prices are very reasonable as well. This is an obvious popular stop for the students and instructors of the National Fire Academy that is just down the road. read more

It was a nice restaurant stop in Emmitsburg MD that had great food and a friendly staff. The parking was ample on the street in front of it and around the corner. I had the cheeseburger with onion rings and I will have to say, it was quite delicious. The burger was tasty and the onion rings were especially crispy with ample seasoning. The interior reminds me of an old tavern with a fireplace of many moons ago. The town of Emmitsburg is somewhat elevated and very scenic roads leading up to it for drivers or riders thinking about visiting this town. Ott House is a long-time, family-owned, pub conveniently located on Main St. It is a good option for bar food like wings and such. I've visited a few times over the years and it has always been a good vibe. The customer service is good. It seems that many local and national emergency management personnel dine and socialize here after training at the local emergency management training facility around the corner. The bar table and walls are decorated with emergency management patches from visiting firefighters, officers, and government workers which is a sight to see. There are televisions showing games and you can also find your typical bar games like darts. A real come as you are and let your hair down pub. read more

Amazingggggg restaurant and bar! We've been coming here after ski day trips at Liberty for years & years. The service and food have always been great. We went this past weekend without realizing it was alumni weekend for Mount St. Mary's and it was super crowded. Luckily, we were able to get a table. We found out the kitchen was closing but they were willing to feed us after a long day on the slopes. We had an awesome server, tasty food, and enjoyed the night. Not to mention: the food is SO affordable. Menu highlights: crab dip, ponch fries, and the sassy chicken (both salad and sandwich were so yummy). We will continue to be back! Thanks. read more

Love this place - it's local to Mount St. Mary's and aside from the Ott family members manning the bar local college kids fill the rest. Food is yummy and very reasonable - the service is great and perfect place to end up at lunch or after work. read more

I was visiting Emmitsburg with my daughter. I had never been to this part of Maryland before. I have some dear friends in Emmitsburg and they made a reservation at the Ott House. We were so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The Ott house has a lot of history, you can tell the building is really old. That's part of the charm. Mary our server was very personable. It was really busy ,but she did a great job, Our food was hot and served in a timely manner. Mary was really busy ,but she was very attentive. I had the Delmonico steak dinner, it was cooked perfectly. The menu has a lot of options. Everyone at my table ordered a different entree and everything looked delicious .We all enjoyed what we ordered. I would highly recommend this restaurant. If you get to this part of Maryland, this would definitely be a good place to visit. read more

Long-time family-owned pub. Friendly staff, but not enough of them for the friendly service to be attentive. Waits can be long, and this firematically-themed establishment just down the street from the National Fire Academy can get very crowded. A great little corner pub decorated with fire department badges on the walls and challenge coin collection frames. Nice big roomy bar the length of the place. Yes their wings are goood! I had the mild sauce and even that leaves a little kick on the lips but not bad- wish I got more celery with the wing order (10 wings in the order ) I could have asked for more celery..my bad Ordered a soup of the day broccoli and cheddar and a baked potato which was the largest I'd seen ever - butter and cream cheese definitely ask for more of both since the spud is larger than a side potato --again my bad Overall perfect experience for my traveling through! read more

Do yourself a favor and skip the side (fried, boiled, or mashed potatoes) for a lower price. Also recommend skipping the melted butter, totally! Had the patty melt, friend had the cheese burger. Frozen sloppy burgers that had gross while hard chunks in them and were so greasy we had to use a fork because the bun became a gross sludge. I came here with a coworker. What a pleasant surprise this place is. It's located on the main street so parking is limited along the street. I believe there is additional parking in the back. There's a few pool tables, a pinball machine, and an electric dart board inside. There are also a few TV monitors along the bar. There was plenty of staff. At one point, we realized there were three customers for every worker (not counting those in the back). Service was excellent and we were regularly checked on to see if we needed anything. This place has a firefighter theme with thousands of patches throughout the restaurant/bar. This makes sense considering the fact that the National Emergency Training Center is less than a mile away. I believe the NETC provides advance training for firefighters. Anyway, along with a few beers, I ordered their bacon & cheese fries and had them add jalapeños. The fries were hot and crispy. The cheese and jalapeños were also just right. Together and paired with some ranch dressing, this was a tasty snack! And the size was bigger than I expected! In fact, it was one of those rare cases where I couldn't finish it all. Prices were reasonable and again, the service was really good. The place did start to fill up as more customers came in. The crowd looked like both locals as well as numerous students from the NETC. Nice atmosphere and vibe here. Definitely a place I'd come back to should I be in the area again! read more

You can sit and enjoy the pub house setting looking at all the donated fire house memorabilia, or have fun with friends playing pinball or shooting pool. A lot of the NFA comes here for the wings and Yings on tuesdays for their deal. The Ying beer is the oldest local brewed beer, as I was told. The beers are at a discounted price on Tuesday's with a discounted pRice on the wings. The 10 piece wings were $8 after tax with a choice of on flavor and blue cheese or ranch. The wings were normal. I had the old bay. They were not skimpy and not chunky. Pretty good deal if you want not the cafeteria food. Everyone was getting pretty happy drunk oFf the drinks. Glad I cAme but nothing spectacular. The bar is filled with fire department patches which is cool. A bus goes to pick up NFA students. I believe it is the owner that does it. Was in the area visiting and had heard about this place being a staple. Service was good considering how busy it was. However, the food is just mediocre. One night I tried the steak which was not very good and the green beans that went along with it were terrible. The next time I tried a hamburger. It wasn't bad, but it was just mediocre. Absolutely appalled about my lunch order from the OTT house today. I ordered a medium rare steak to go and when I got home (2 min away) the steak was well done. When I called to get a new one they said it cooked in the box, a 25° difference. So they cooked me a new one and I had to go back out to pick it up and got home and it's raw!! Never ever going there again! Also, they don't serve veggies or potatoes before 4 so my side was a little cup of applesauce, like a 2 year old would have. read more

What a disappointment! We came here after watching a softball game at the Mount and thought this would be a great place to go based on the Yelp reviews. Maybe I mis read or didn't read enough but we were so disappointed in our experience. Let's start with the good. And the only thing that was redeeming - our server. Her name was Alexis and she was WONDERFUL!! She was attentive, accommodating, and just all around on top of it. It's so rare to see such a good server sad to say and she was solid. So none of this was any reflection on her. When we got there it was seat yourself so we did and that was fine. The restaurant was pretty dirty and I wrote that off as it being a college bar but still it kind of bothered me and at times I thought I smelled puke. Again I tried to ignore it. We started with an appetizer sampler and some soup. The mozzarella sticks were good and the chicken tenders were good. The poppers were meh. They were bland. The thing that bothered me most about this was the sauces. They came in pre packed containers which is fine but the marinara for the mozzarella was ice cold. And the honey mustard tasted old. So I have no idea how long they sat. My husband got French onion soup and it was pretty bland and he was sure it was canned. For my meal I got a patty melt and waffle fries. The fries were fine. The burger - not so much. I don't know what kind of patty that was but it definitely wasn't 100% ground beef. It was almost a solid block and like smooth inside? Definitely with some textured soy protein in it. Blak. It was so bad. I even had to ask if it was bad meat? And it wasn't bad like rotten it was just poor poor quality. And the wings were huge and fatty and some had like side growths on them. Oh man. My husband got fried oysters and he said they were flavorless. Anyway I'm sad. I looked forward to our meal here and it was just so bad. I didn't have the heart to say anything to the server because she was so great and I knew she'd probably go out of her way to make it right somehow and I just didn't want to put it on her. We definitely let her know how much we appreciated her in general. I guess with this place mostly serving college kids they don't feel like the quality of food matters? I went here for years when I was stationed nearby. What a fantastic place. Inexpensive food and drinks. Great customer service. Great ownership. Sometimes live music. Really varies in clientele. Locals, firefighters from NETC, tourists to Gettysburg and surrounding area, college students on some nights. They used to provide a shuttle service that would take us back to nearby hotel. The Ott House is as good as a local tavern/road house can get. The food is tasty and well priced. The Friday prime rib special is so good it sells out by 6pm. The owner, Bobby, is a master barkeep who remembers your name even if you haven't been there for months. Many among the wait staff are Bobby's nieces. This is a family place and a friendly one. Food was amazing! We were nearby for my son's soccer tournament, and found this place. The house wing sauce was excellent!!

Stopped for dinner the food was just ok my wife's steak was smothered with some kind of seasoning that was one, way to much two very spicy and salty when we complained about it we were told the owner would not fix another nor refund the price but we were welcome to order another dinner in place of it at our cost ! This is bad business and not the way to treat customers PEROID !!! I would not recommend this joint to my worst enemy save your money and go to McDonalds at the end of town it will be a better dinner and better service !!!! read more
