First grade we got a new principal and it has been horrific is horrible you can't they don't answer the phones at 7:30 so when they do answer the phones, it's too too late for you to get in contact with the teacher on the phone. The principal lockdown, the kids like they in prison you can't talk to your kid you can't talk to the teacher you can't go on campus you can't. Be parent while your child is on the school campus. This is a safety issue. You got bullying at the school you got kids taking other kids lunches at the school, a locked my granddaughter in the bathroom and called her psycho and wouldn't let her out the bathroom the School never informed me of this, you need to use the bathroom if they have to go to the bathroom they lose a recess you got kids fighting all the time it's just this year this new principal. This is ridiculous.

It's a great school where teachers are highly qualified to teach. The issues come in "Great Schools.org" rates La Jolla a 3 on a scale of 10. I can not speak for other parents, but solely on my children and the parents of children who are constant volunteers. The children whose parents are involved with their daily activities in school are excelling in school. I do see many parents who come in their pjs or who are too lazy to get out of their car to walk their children in and many children who are falling behind district level, don't get any help at home. This school is trying to get the grades above the state average but it can not be done without the help from home. I can only hope parents read this review and appreciate what teachers do for their children and come to the school and be a part of their children's learning process. For those parents who made a commitment to their children when they were born, I salute you!

Has an…read moreannotated medical need for a 504 plan ,yet the teacher just gets frustrated and instead of getting him help from the counselor or other behavioral therapists that may help him ,she just sends him to the office for every little thing because she doesn't have the patience . So she sends him to the office where he misses hours of valuable class time. Not only that whenever you email the teacher, you won't even get a response. It's very unprofessional for a teacher to not even respond to you when you're trying to check on your child and how he is being helped in the classroom. I feel that staff here were not properly trained on how to use strategies provided in a 504 plan that will better accommodate your child.. Not only that the Think TOGETHER staff at Bear Valley elementary school are very unprofessional as well. They believe every little thing the kids tell them without even having proof ,and will even try to tell your personal business in front of a long line of other parents. I do not appreciate the school staff nor THINK TOGETHER staff at this location .very unpleasant experiences for my child unfortunately.

Then one day I picked him up and the whole side of his face was swollen as they stomped on his face at recess. No call. No nothing. After an urgent care visit it was found that my son had a concussion and broken ribs. After I made a scene at the school about the incident. The principal Mr Hudek and VP Mrs Connelly then began retaliating against my son. I received 6 calls within 2 weeks from the VP. With stupid things like your son is making fart noises in class. They don't call when your son gets a concussion but if you make fart noises your done. I removed my kids from the district. Since then I have discovered 4 other families that these same boys are attacking. Avoid this whole district if you can!

Pulled our son from a different school after a horrible Kindergarten, and we couldn't be happier…read more The principal Mr. Anderson and VP Ms. Madrid are so involved and we have absolutely wonderful ptsa. This is my son's second year at this school and we could not be happier. Miss Harris was the blessing we had asked for, for a successful and happy 1st grade. So far, second grade is proving to be happy and positive as well. Looking forward to another great year as a Charger!
