I went to inquire about enrolling my child into this school and received very rude treatment from the front office (Cassandra). I was completely turned off by her unprofessionalism, lack of eye contact, and the way she treats children. The front desk/office is the face of an establishment, the representation of what is the come. After talking with different parents I came to found out the following: * HIGH turnaround on teachers/staff. * The area is bad. * Homeless are constantly within feet of the school and the police don't always clear them out in the mornings. * Restrictions on taking your own child out of school during after hours!? * Over capacity of students. Most often times they need to eat lunch in their classrooms. *During the summer, the air conditioners don't always work, and the children are forced to eat outside with no shade. *Every year, at least 1 teacher leaves the school. Sometimes mid-year! Do yourself a huge favor and do your due diligence. Talk to other parents there and drive around during business hours and you can see it all for yourself. read more

Ive gone to reach before as a student and lemme tell you right now that the food is horrible and you might have a high chance of getting sick or something like that. But other than the food, the people are nice and kids were funny to hang out with. Man, this school is culturally inclusive. My son attended this school for many years and I must say I've never encountered a school that was so diverse from staff to students. They celebrate all cultures and they have so many activities throughout the year and assembles. I truly hope they expand to 7th and 8th grade because I've been to many schools in riverside county and this one takes the cake. They are also big on college and encourage kids to think about college now. Yes, my kid did get bullied which seems unavoidable at every school. My only advice is to not have the bulky and the victim face to face to taken to them. The victim feels scared and silenced then there's retaliation. Mostly happens at break and lunch when it's hard to keep eyes on kids. It's also hard to stop words from shooting out of their mouths. All in all we would come back in a heart beat. Make sure you show appreciation for teachers week. All of the staff are wonderful and really do care about the kiddos. Did I mention they have old, young, male, female, they have a little bit of everyone on their staff and what every school should model. read more

The food is garbage and the kids vape, also my son gets bullied daily and there are racial slurs that the staff don't bother about it, and 90% of the ratings are from staff to boost the ratings and give themselves 5 stars. Their banners say 5 stars when they only have a 4.1 and soon just a one star. I would highly not recommend this school for your children and would recommend elcot than this crappy school! I wold rate it lower but unfortunately I can't so do your child a favor and don't send them to this school, also the "events" are a giant scam and not worth it so save your money. Speaking of money my son recently got his money stolen y a kid who claimed he never met my son, while he was lying he tried to slip the money to his friends and almost got away with it but the school didn't believe my son and I so they did nothing about it. read more

My oldest is wrapping up her 2nd year at REACH and my middle one is in TK. We've been very happy with he school, the communication and the academics. My oldest previously attended our local public school and then a private Catholic school, REACH has been the best academically by far. This academic year has been the most challenging with COVID 19, but the REACH staff was flexible, prepared and diligent. While other schools struggled and got a super late start on distance learning, this school was on task. My girls have been on track with their coursework, and the teachers are working non stop to support the kids. I'm a super proud REACH parent. read more

Love love love this school, it is hands down what I as a grandparent look forward to hearing about on weekly basis, the learning and absolute enjoyment that my grandsons are sharing with me. I have two there, one in 1st grade and the other just started TK. This was our 4 year old's first week and I already, once again, am so amazed at what he has learned. The teachers there are absolutely wonderful and I do follow their school activities and curriculum pages on ClassDojo. Be extremely careful if you take your child to this school. My son went to K and 1st grade, but now we are pulling out very quickly. Kinder was good he was happy then in 1st grade it went downhill fast. Basically the boys are bad in their eyes and the girls are good, so they always pick the sides of the good kids and discipline the other. They do not investigate, there is lots of bullying and the worst part is the will make discussion about your child without even communicating with you before. They don't notify about everything just what they want. The kids play in dirt and get super dirty they don't have a good playground. To add to it they have the crazy uniform requirement that they can ONLY wear white button down shirt... White for a 1st grader, it comes home black every day. I read another review that says "reach is full of empty promises" man that is so true. They lack experience and knowledge and do not know how to handle anything without Dr. Rentie and at his point Dr. Rentie isn't making proper calls, just empty promises. There is a reason why many kids are leaving the school mid year. Sounds promising but it lies. read more

So we just wrapped up our second trimester at REACH at I have to say, although it has been an emotional journey for me, we do love REACH. As my son, my first born, entered kindergarten I had nostalgic memories of my kinder experience of finger painting, arts and crafts, and hands on/tactile/sensory learning and expected the same for him. I realized shortly after the start of school, that the kinder of my era is long gone and they now expect those things to be experienced at the preschool level, and as I've heard many parents say, kinder is the new first grade. My bubble burst when they sent homework home w my kindergartener the first week of school and I was under the impression the school was homework free. I called the office immediately, outraged that a new kindergartener who is at school from 8am-3pm was being sent back homework at a homework free school! I must not have been the only one because that same day we received a text from his teacher (imo communication w parents has been good--daily teacher updates via text, automated school phone calls, website/blog updates) saying the kinder dept has decided not to include homework for the students and to only do anything that seemed interesting to your child. The school has also now said that homework is at the discretion of the teacher. For me personally, it's my understanding that homework has not shown to be beneficial anywhere at the elementary level. But, that was fine with me and we pushed on. After further rude awakenings to my kindergarten expectations and what I perceived as extremely high demands on such little kids, and even a brief discussion with Dr Renti, the director, who assured me that their expectations are perfectly age appropriate, and talking w some other parents who shared similar concerns from the class, I wrestled with whether or not we should just homeschool. I didn't feel called to homeschool, but I was at a loss. By the end of first trimester I was still unsure of things. We had our parent/teacher conference and I expressed further concern w the teacher about things as they had been and she was firm in her position as well--academic expectations are high, yes, but perfectly age appropriate. I then found out my son had made the Director's List--highest honors for honor roll. It was then that I realized that it wasn't my son having issues, it was me having issues. He loved going to school. He loved his teacher. He was rising to their expectations, and truly, he never had once complained about his days, and really seemed to be liking school. We went to a school spirit assembly where they sorted the kids into their houses and I was floored by the energy and enthusiasm of the kids and staff. Live music being played by some of the staff, it was super fun! We did a STEAM night at the school and was blown away by the provocations and prompts set up for the kids. My son, even though I was initially concerned about a "drill and kill" worksheet mentality for writing, he started bringing home more interesting projects that were hands on and mentally challenging. As we come to the end of the second trimester, his grades improved across the board, he received a math award, and he made the Directors List again! He is reading and writing beautifully and we couldn't be happier with his knowledge, academics, and critical thinking. We also went to the Spring Show to kick off their spring break and I was impressed with what I saw across the board for the whole student body--CONFIDENT and well adjusted kids, rocking the heck out of everything they're doing, and so enthusiastic about school! Moreover, we did a little play date w some of his school friends and the same parents who had been concerned at the beginning of the school year were now of the same opinion. REACH is fantastic! Yep, it's safe to say, though it took some personal introspection, we adore REACH and will continue or son's eduction there. We are excited for his little sister to start in a couple years and I will, hands down, continue to appreciate and be grateful for what this school offers our children, free of charge. I've struggled to find common ground with this school. It was difficult to receive the support my son needed and at the time the communication with the staff was at times inappropriate. It was challenging and I previously wrote a detailed reviewed that I since deleted because my opinion of the school has changed. This school is handling Coronavirus and distance learning very well. They had a game plan and I feel like my children's learning did not skip a beat. My son was on an IEP and receives one on one support and group meetings via Zoom. Their teacher has walked me through everything. Although at first the workload was a lot, they since adjusted it and have been flexible. They had their game plan so on point that my household as a whole benefitted from their routine. I am grateful for this school. And although we had a rough start, my opinion has changed. Minus one star only because of the start. read more

My kids came to reach after struggling to find a good school that fits our needs! I had TK, 2nd grader and two student who were at 5th when we came to reach, at first I was very nervous reading the reviews, and then I decided to make up my own mind, and went to meet the staff and take a look at the school, they welcomed us with an open heart, and were so great and helpful. The education is great at reach, we used singapore Math, and they had an amazing staff who specialized in kid who were falling behind, they had a great non bullying policy, also a great leadership that helps build the student self esteem. As mom I am very involved with my kids education and learning, I can't tell you how grateful I am that my kids are apart of reach leadership Academy. At reach theres no limits to what the student could reach, they push the student to want more , and make learning so fun, by teaching with music, and games, the students are always alert, they feel like they are family. They also offered my kids free tutoring and helped bring may daughter level up, we also have houses at reach, yes it was amazing to teach kids in a positive way, every teacher my kids had were amazing, Mrs .Contreras was an amazing teacher , and also Lets not forget the lovely Mrs. Snyder . Mrs. Snyder is a 2nd grade teacher she is caring and super smart, she helped my son over come his weakness and helped him build his self esteem. Ms. Henry is sooo amazing too, she helped him to keep wanting more, and she never ever quit on him. Ms. Quach the KG Teacher is super smart, and very fun , also she is firm . Ms. Sanchez the sweetest person you will meet, she is very smart and have fun ways to teach kids math and make them love it. Lets not forget my Guardian Angel Ms. Wilson, Ms. Wilson Came at the end of the year and she took a class that was behind and down and made them up to speed, and helped by part of the first graduating 6th grade at reach. My family was really fortunate to have found Reach Leadership Academy. Both my daughters have thrived educationally while at Reach. They have formed friendships and bonds I hope they will remember and continue throughout their lifetimes. I was hesitant at first coming from a private school environment. It was a learning experience for both my daughters and for us as parents not knowing the inner workings of how charter schools operate. I am extremely happy we took that leap of faith. The teachers are phenomenal. They are so willing to make sure your child succeeds. The school has a student success team that will track and work with your student to assist them reach their educational goals. The teachers will tutor students if they are in need and even if they are not you always feel welcomed as a parent to ask questions and get results. My daughters have showed tremendous growth especially this past year. This is their third year at the school. This past year My daughters favorite teachers were Ms. Smith, Ms. Wilson, and Mrs. Alarcon. I feel this past year all of the teachers were wonderful, but I wanted to acknowledge these teachers because I feel the combination of finally getting their footing and these amazing teachers ability to bring out the best in my daughters has come to fruition. The staff and school personnel are always willing to assist you. The school has implemented many changes over their five years to continually make improvements. They want to hear from parents to make the school better and better as they grow. We are constantly updated about any changes and we as parents have meetings we can attend and speak with the administration about any concerns we have. You don't always get an opportunity to have your voice heard. So I am extremely grateful for for this opportunity. Overall, I'm happy with the school. Unfortunately I only have one child left at Reach. I wanted my girls to have the best educational opportunity possible. So I had to go to both campuses daily and make the commute, but I was willing as long as the school was willing to provide quality education. I was not disappointed. I only wish they would have been able to have continued past the 6th grade, but who knows it might happen in the future. read more

I feel very blessed to have my child enrolled at Reach. His teachers have been amazing and very dedicated. People are always impressed with how advanced he is compared to other kids his age. Communication with the teachers has always been great and because their is so much parent involvement in the classroom/events/afterschool clubs etc their is a sense of community and communication within parents. I do not live in the area but i feel it is worth the drive. Reach just keeps getting better and better every year. We only have nice things to say about this school. read more

Another school year has passed, and still my expectations have been surpassed. I have 2 boys that attend here, and my oldest has attended for all 5 years. We drove 90 minutes every morning to get to REACH, and even longer to get home. Both my children REFUSE to find a school closer to home. That says a lot about the environment that REACH provides for them. My oldest son has a team of teachers that he ADORES. They each work tirelessly to give him, and the other student what the need individually. Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Alarcon, and Ms. Sanchez did an outstanding job with him this year. It's been a stellar year yet again. My younger son's teacher was phenomenal as well. When he wanted to learn above and beyond what she was teaching- she went out of her way to challenge him. It's not just the teachers, either. The staff treats my children like family. What I admire most about REACH though, is how they listen to me. When I have any concerns; I can bring them to the fabulous office staff or even the director herself, Dr. Rentie, and they all will help resolve any issues as quickly as possible. I transferred my 6 year old son to Reach Leadership Academy Charter School on October 19th 2015. On my son's first day at Reach he was slapped in the face by another student whom was in his class. Unfortunately I was not informed of this incident until I got home from picking my son up from school which is when my son verbally told me about the incident. I texted my son's teacher at 5:48pm on October 19th regarding the incident. My son's teacher then sincerely apologized for not letting me know about what had occurred and that the day had been super crazy busy which is understandable that the teacher had a busy day I just wish a note or something was in my son's backpack notifying me of the situation. I spoke to the teacher in person the next morning on October 20th regarding the incident that occurred the day before. The teacher was extremely apologetic then informed me that the child was overly excited to have a new student in the class. When the class was in line for lunch is when the child came up behind my son and took both his hands and slapped both of my childs cheeks from behind. For the next 2-3 weeks my son would come home complaining that the kids at Reach are "bad kids" and also the kids are "mean kids" were the exact words my son used. Exactly two weeks into my son going to Reach in the morning before school starts the kids line up on the basketball court. My son and I were sitting at the blue benches and there were two boys from my son's class already lined up. My son said he wanted to go talk to the boys, I said, "Go ahead." My son went over to the boys and said, "Hey what are you guy's doing?" That's when one of the two boys said, "None of your business." My child came back over to me sulking. I said, "What's wrong?" For me the last straw was on March 22nd 2016 my son was getting his hot lunch and was going to go sit down by his friend and classmate. There was an empty seat that was between 2 boys one boy was my son's friend and classmate and the other boy was not in my child's class. My son went to sit down in the seat next to his friend and the boy on the other side of the empty seat said, "I'm saving that seat for someone." My son ignored the child and sat down next to his friend. That's when child who was saving the seat spat on my son. My son then spat back on the other child. When I found that out yesterday that is when I went in to the Reach office at 1pm to pull my son from Reach permanently. read more

The teacher need better communication with parents. I feel teacher don't take the afford to tell the parents that the kid need help with math or reading etc . They only communicate when they need material for a party . Us has parents care about are kid education and what we need to work on at home . Parents only want what best for are kids. I'm so excited for my daughter to start kindergarten there in the fall. I know a number of parents who send their children to this school and it is obvious that their curriculum is head and shoulders above the other local schools. Both of my kids have done very well in this school. The school has a family feel to it. My grandmother was also very involved in this school before she passed away. Worst educational experience I've ever had. My family experienced poor management, haphazard curriculum, and insufficient play areas for the kids. My son entered kindergarten ahead of his peers and after less than a year at REACH, he was behind. We transferred him to a better school. Stepping out in faith considering a charter school as an alternative to what I believe is a poor public school system, Little more month into the process I am quite pleased. Although transition was a bit difficult, The reach leadership Academy has taking a personal interest in my son and he is beginning to excel in all categories.....especially his citizenship. We love REACH. After 4 years my only regret is that we can't send our kids past 6th grade.

So far extraordinarily unimpressed. Disorganized, horrible communication (despite the phone calls, emails, and apps), and it is like pulling teeth to get the simplest requests done. To be fair, I have no other elementary school experience to compare it to, so it could be just as bad or worse elsewhere. Coming from two different day care/pre-schools that ran like well-piled machines despite their flaws, this place is a slap in the face and an insult to parents. read more
