My children have been enrolled in the Riverside Student Center for years, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school, its teachers and program. The teachers are very involved in your child's learning. Parents are met with quarterly to discuss your child's individualized learning plan. We always know what we need to work on specifically. The teachers, principal and staff are all very caring and want your child to succeed. They know each child by name and always make the kids feel welcome. If you are looking for an alternative to public school that allows you to be involved in your Child's learning, River Springs is a great program. read more

Do not homeschool through Springs! They restrict you from using the funds for almost any activity or educational equipment, t do not really contribute to the kids' education, and their only real priority is your child doing well on standard testing to make them look better. To them, your child is just a tool to collect funding and high test scores, neither of which do they earn. read more

River Springs Student Center encompases both a 1 or 2 day enrichment option for students homeschooled through River Springs Charter School and also a hybrid charter school and homestudy option through its Mosaic program. I have participated in both options with my children and can say that this school is a great place for students to really excel. The Mosaic program is a wonderful opportunity for us to have the benefit of amazing credentialed teachers and also have a large part in my children's education by being their teacher 2 days a week and having them home with me for home study days. The flexibility of the program is key to our success in it. I highly recommend River Springs for parents who want a hands-on part of their children's education, with the guidance and support of great teachers. read more

A charter school is a public school that is parent-guided as a group. Shouldn't all public schools be that way? River Springs has credentialed teachers helping every step of the way as you choose how you want your own offspring to learn. This student center has more then one program. If enrolled in the traditional option students attend 3 days a week for regular classes, and then have specific curriculum to complete at home the other 2. I choose to homeschool my kids, and then enroll them in optional classes at the student center one or two days a week. These optional classes are fun and creative while still teaching necessary skills. For example, the most popular class at this location is Lego League. Students hone critical thinking, planning, and engineering skills to build and compete within the group. Writing, Science, Book Club, Dance, German, PE... a wide variety of classes are available, the staff is very helpful and polite, the location is modern and warm, and most importantly my son is having a great time while learning, imagine that? read more

Our children started here in 2012-2013 at the Corona student learning center. We put them there because several of our friends ranted and raved about how good this school was and with at the time the issues we were having with the Lake Elsinore school district which we were forced into even though we are part of Corona we decided to give this charter a try. I will say that there programs where very appealing. You had the option of Home Schooling them or having them in a program that had them home Monday and Tuesday and then they went to school Wednesday-Friday. However when you started digging into the program which could only really be done once you joined you start to see flaws quickly. For example they require you to print out about 90% of your work. I would expect this if you are homeschooling but not if you are doing the three day a week program. Then the kids had a ton of online extra curricular programs they had to do on top of their homework which proved to be useless for the most part. Our most recent issues though are taken up with the Common Core implementations which are a joke on top of the No Child Left Behind which leaves almost every child behind hence the consistent falling grades in almost all schools in CA and on top of the the Principle at our school removed "Christian" books from the shelves because someone complained. I understand that schools aren't to put one faith or religion ahead of the other one but to remove all Christian books and leave all other religious books in the system is extremely illegal and disrespectful. Further our children became ill and were required to be home for roughly a month. The school informed us that however long they were out, that they would have the same amount of time to catch up. Despite our consistent calls the the principle who would take days to weeks on end to call back, requesting that we be mailed or emailed the class information for the weeks we were missing so that we could better keep up we never received anything. That is until the third day the kids went back to school. Then we were ordered by the principle to get it done in a week after we were told we had four weeks, because they needed to get report cards in and that they needed to get credit so they could get paid because they are losing money. When I called to talk to the principle I was rudely yelled at, not allowed to speak and our kids were threatened with expelment if I didn't "shut up and listen". This principle is bringing this campus down. This principles better half, who was the former principle, is exactly that and when the better half left, so did this campuses quality. I at this point would never recommend this charter school. They have no concern for people rights and apparently no concern for how their staff treat their students and their student families. This is a wonderful school! My son goes to the Corona campus. This is our first year and we LOVE this school! We are in a program called Mosaic where we home school two days a week and he goes to class three days. Which is a wonderful balance for our son! His teacher is amazing and does wonderful projects that give each child a love for learning. The principle takes times to know the children and the families, she is very kind and approachable,with the a focus of maintaining a great environment for the kids to flourish.The other children are very kind and considerate.We are very involved parents and very particular about our child's education and we highly recommend this school. We took my child out of the highest rated elementary school in Corona-Norco school district, mainly because of the lack of love shown to each individual child, a principle with her and her staff needs being placed before the needs of the students, and the ever growing size of each class. We will never return to tradition public school. We LOVE Springs Charter and the stand they take in education our kid! The kids get to be themselves and are encouraged to think and explore at this school. They are not always placed in the stigma of being pushed to out do each other or go beyond the state standards. My child had growing anxiety in public school, but now he is realizing his full potential and ownership over his learning. read more

The experience I had at the River Springs Charter schools program was far from acceptable. I enrolled my son in the middle school transition program for middle schoolers because we had recently moved and I did not like the surrounding schools. The education specialist I was assigned to was very unorganized. She repeatedly canceled appts and was no help in assisting me. My high school girls were given packets of homework that they turned in weekly and never received a grade, it wasn't until I pulled them out and put them back into public school that my honor roll girls were told that they had F's. They have been bus sting their butts to get back on track. Horrible experience with 1stars! read more

If I could rate the River Springs Murrieta program a ZERO I would. HORRIBLE! Unsafe campus that is unmonitored. Poor academics with no guidance. Program has no direction, with numerous worksheets and online "science" that offers a 15 second blurb on the science subject of the week. NO creativity and activity that would help advanced students excel. Worst school I've ever encountered! The provided curriculum was slow paced, unsupported, and boring! Teachers were ill prepared and unskilled at delivering subject matter appropriate to student's ability. Where did these people get their credentials? read more

We have about 15 years of experience with homeschooling through charter schools. This is by far the worst school we have knowledge of. Even schooling online with no local supervising teacher is a better option. We applied for this program in August, before the school year began and, despite repeated calls to the school, we were not enrolled and set up with a teacher until October! The support has only declined from there. We deeply regret trying River Springs and hope this info will help others avoid the bad year we've had. After a very bad experience with a charter school, my husband and I decided it was best to home school our 2nd grade son. After a thorough research, multiple people referred me to River Springs. I signed up with the homeschool program and was assigned an education specialist to assist us as we started this new homeschooling endevor. Our specialist is Tim Sherwood. He's been so helpful and knowledgeable. Homeschooling through RSCS gives the option of enrichment classes on Tuesday and Thursdays. The teachers he has had for 2015- 2016 school year are just fantastic. His reading and writing is excelling. He actually likes to read now. The site is very clean and secure. Lots of high fences and buzzers and video cameras. It has a penitentiary type feeling. But not in a bad way. I leave my son there feeling confident that he is safe. I really liked my son coming here this year, and we have reenrolled him for 2016-2017 school year. read more

I think it's odd that not all these reviews are for the "Riverside" Student Center. This is a facility where students enrolled in the homeschooling program can attend enrichment 1-2 days a week or enroll in a three day a week schooling program at this location. Springs Charter School has a ton of programs to meet a variety of needs and attending an enrichment class is part of that. One homeschool family will be doing the exact opposite of another through this charter. The beauty of homeschooling! With that said, my children attend this location for enrichment classes once a week and take things like Hands on Science, Musical Theater and Art. They have a lot of fun and adore coming. The teachers are educated, experienced and work well with the kids. The staff is friendly and they organize school spirit days, geography fairs, talent shows, yearbook, box top fun, etc. I recommend "Riverside Student Center" for enrichment classes as part of a Springs Charter School education. read more

My 11 year old just started at this school & it has been a fantastic experience! My 11 year old feels safe, secure & loves everything about his learning environment! I love the staff I have dealt with so far. From the parking lot staff, receptionist, teachers, principal & vice everyone has been helpful & kind. I did not have that at our elementary school in Moreno Valley. The front office staff was always rude. So happy to be a part of Riverside Student Center. Safety first! I will start by saying there are some amazing teachers whom I love at this school but I have had an awful experience with the current principal twice now regarding my son who has a 504 plan and a diagnosis. My son escaped today! He snuck past all adults and made it to the parking lot alone. This is not a good area for any kid to be alone especially not a young boy with a developmental issue. The principal had the nerve to tell me my son knew the rules instead of apologizing and assuring me they would not let it happen again. The only other time I met this principal he was explaining to my son how being bullied was his fault. My son was being choked by another student- a student who has been aggressive with many students and he wanted to know what my son did to make him choke him. This is the best part- he claims that children with adhd who are not medicated have normal impulse control and do not require any extra supervision. ( in spite of the fact that we have a 504 plan that outlines all the ways in which accommodations are required by law.) If you have a child with adhd I would keep shopping. read more

If I could give this school a zero, I would. At first I raved about the school. It seemed just what I wanted out of a school with the parent support and involvement. Last year, however, they decided to combine 7th and 8th grade classes because the school didn't have enough students in those grades and wanted to add an additional Kindergarten class. To me, I thought it was a little ridiculous to combine those grades together as they should be getting all the education they could be getting. The school is so big on numbers, it doesn't matter. We stuck with it though because our child was getting good grades and happy. The thing that DOES need to be brought to the attention of prospective attendees is, if you are not Christian, you might as well look somewhere else. This school is operating as if it is a private Christian school. The ONLY club that was offered all year long during lunch was a Christian Club. The TEACHER was leading the club, which if you look into, you will see it is ILLEGAL for a teacher to run a Religious club. The students in that club have NO problem preaching to other students, telling them they will be going to hell if they do not change their ways, and emailing them scriptures and harassing them. When I contacted the administrator in Temecula, I was told they should NOT have a teacher leading the club and the students are not supposed to be doing that. The principal, however, had an attitude when she told the kids not to do that in the middle of the classroom and seemed to be bothered by having to even say anything. A week later and the teacher was STILL leading the club. The graduation ceremony is being held at a church, which, again, this is NOT supposed to be a religious school. There are SEVERAL other venues that could accommodate that many people. The Science Camp was also held at a Christian Conference Center. In the flier we received, did NOT state this as I would not have sent my child. Before every meal the kids were led in a prayer and the ones who did not participate were glared at and made to feel that they did something wrong. My child was bullied by this group of Christian girls while she was there and when brought to the attention of the teacher, I was told I would have to have my daughter PUT IT IN WRITING BEFORE ANYTHING WAS DONE. So, let me get this straight, if nothing is in writing, there will be no action? In fact, the teacher told me that the principal won't EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT if it is not in writing. That is creating intimidation and almost seems like they are trying to avoid doing anything. My daughter was harassed by another teacher for having a GUITAR book that I BOUGHT her. Another student was going to be expelled for having a military book. Yet one of the Christian kids who BROUGHT a knife to school was suspended for a couple days like nothing. The bottom line is, if you are not in the little Christian circle, you are basically an outsider. The school condones it, heck even promotes it and now the level of involvement is going to be substantial. Separation of church and state is for a reason. There are SO MANY different religions out there, how can a PUBLIC school get away with promoting one or any for that matter? The Anti Defamation league, United Americans and ACLU are there for a reason. To make a student feel like an outsider because they are different is discrimination and last time I checked, ILLEGAL. Steer clear of going there, as there are many other options for good schooling. read more

The bad reviews couldn't be for the Riverside location as this location doesn't offer High School...and it's not Murrieta, it's the RIVERSIDE LEARNING CENTER located on Chicago Ave. in Riverside. My review is mixed. I'm happy with the Riverside Student Center however that lack of a 5 star review is a result of River Springs attempt at a high school. The Magnolia Center was a complete failure. Poor quality facility, a director that avoided parents, an overly friendly teacher, and the list goes on. It finally closed and the students for the most part moved to another location. I switched my child to the Keys program. He spent the year trying to catch up on the credits lost in his freshman year. He wouldn't have been behind had the Magnolia facility not been poorly run and failing its students. Come to find out, he's been disenrolled for under performing. I realize that this is how they keep their numbers up. Rather than help them, they dump them. Incredibly disappointing. K-8 in Riverside I'm satisfied with, high school is a fail. None of my other children will be attending River Springs beyond 8th grade. read more

My kids go here one day a week and homeschool for the remaining days. What a nice facility and they LOVE going. They set out their clothes the night before without a reminder. They have been involved in many classes and programs since I have pulled them out of the local public school, but this is their favorite. Plus, it's a nice break for me. :) Love it!! read more

My 2nd grade son attends the learning center classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He loves going to school! He was sick yesterday and kept asking what class he would be in at different times of the day. He takes a wide variety of classes for enrichment (Spanish, Musical Theater, Science, Writing, Math Games, Travel the Globe, Magic Treehouse, and Kid Town), and he does his core academics at home.
