Although I do like the food and drinks, I had to take away stars for the service and atmosphere. The space is really small and so extremely loud. I ordered a soup and sandwich and so did my boyfriend and I kid you not, it took almost 45 minutes to come out. Our server was extremely friendly and I know it was not his fault but the kitchen was just so backed up. I would try it again as a pick up order, I would definitely not sit down and done in again. Always have great meal here - they usually change the menu in the summer which is always a plus. Friendly service and just a wonderful team of people here. When they have fish specials they are usually just wonderful and even if you have plans for the regular menu it's almost always a good idea to switch over. I've been to this delightful restaurant many times and been more than satisfied each time, with all the dishes I've eaten there. This evening I tried the fish & chips & quite frankly it was as good as Sea Shell. (generally considered to be the best fish restaurant in London, UK). So no small praise! All the other dishes we had at our table were equally delicious, imaginatively cooked & beautifully presented from a well thought out menu. Had breakfast here for my birthday last week. Huevos rancheros. Flavor combo and portion were spot on. Lucas was very friendly and accommodating. Stopped by again for a solo dinner after a long day of hair and some some volunteer work Saturday night. Its nice that they have a counter, diner style to sit at, eating alone can be awkward at a table. Mountain Side Cafe has a great healthy menu I had the roasted cauliflower salad and black bean burger with sweet potato fries, both very tasty. Several delicious meat free salads as well as a few vegetarian and fish options. But the best part is they support a slue of local farms. The Mountain Side Cafe is the epitome of what I look for in a restaurant, clean setting friendly staff delicious healthy food options and supporters of local farms. I'm from just down the road, but living in Queens now. What a pleasant surprise to see the amazing job they have done with the renovation. We snagged a table on the "mountain side" with the sun pouring through...lovely, and so spacious! :) I was thrilled to read that they support local organic farming, because organic is the way I eat, and I try my best to support the local farmers, too! :) I ordered the harvest omelet with the sweet potato and a delicious variety of other veggies, plus the home fries, and a late'...very tasty and satisfying! :) The service was excellent and the water with ginger and lemon was a nice touch, too. :) My niece and I couldn't get past the pastry cabinet as we were leaving. We bought a couple pieces of carrot cake (which was to die for), a sugar cookie, and blueberry muffin. All sooo delish...can't wait to go back! :) read more

I stopped in to get a bite to eat for lunch with my daughter as we were passing through town. They were serving brunch so I ordered a veggie omelet and my daughter ordered the french toast. My omelet was very good as were the home fries, but the french toast was the best we had ever tasted. Service was a bit slow, but that was part of the charm of this wonderful place. We were seated right away when we arrived, but there was a line out the door as we were finishing and we never felt rushed. Before I rip the "cook" (can't be a trained chef) a new one for shear inexcusable stupidity and lack of training, let me first say I loved the ambiance, sweet potato fries and the courteous attentive service even if not professionally trained. Also My wife's fish chowder and grilled Brie cheese sandwich was spot on according to her. Now for my experience. I was tempted and driven here by the bahn mi sandwich but being our first visit I decided to play it safe and go for the simple turkey BLT figuring that was a safe bet. BUT what a total fricken disaster! I would have loved to send it back and told him to eat this mess he made but we waited much too long for the food and I ate the sandwich with a knife and fork like it was a salad. First of all the sandwich was put in a panini grill press to melt the cheese which was absurd. Thin bread HAS too be toasted on both sides to support all the wet ingredients, especially the wet tomato and avocado and lettuce in this fiasco and you don't need to melt the cheese. What I got couldn't even be held long enough to take a bite. The bacon was also half cooked rubber instead of crispy as it should be. The turkey was all on one side but nonexistent on the other half of the sandwich. What the hell is that? Overall it was poorly constructed by an amateur at best. A total mess! Nothing like my favorite turkey BLT I get 20 minutes away at Irving Roaster coffee house in Millerton. They know how to do it! They start with a delicious thick sliced multigrain bread and build it right to hold up to the last bite. They don't even toast it because the bread holds up fine. Lastly your coffee was NOT HOT and that's managements fault for thinking that the thermos will keep it piping hot. No the thermos is fine only To use them as a pitcher to take to the table but not a substitute for a warmer. I gave up on the second try. You guys have all the potential if you were experienced or managed properly. Take a drive to see the competence at Irving's (I'll be there) and stop trying to be something you aren't obviously prepared enough yet to pull off. read more

Great find off the beaten path. Fresh seasonal food done well. Creative egg dishes, sandwiches and salads, along with bakery items and specialty coffees. Burger was fine, pumpkin pomegranate salad delicious. Dirty Chai latte with almond milk was incredible. I went here for breakfast this morning and I definitely have not had something so delicious in months, if not years. I got the veggie skillet which has potatoes, broccoli, peppers, onions, scrambled tofu, and cheese (or do no cheese if you're vegan, I however am NOT because cheese is just so yummy!!) lol anyways, this place is amazing. The decor is simple but cute, it looks super clean inside and the food is out of this world!! The dark-haired girl who greeted me at the door is adorable, friendly, and you can tell she really cares about the place. To be honest, I had driven by at least 50 times without realizing that it was a cafe, but now that I've been there, I will be a loyal customer. The veggie skillet is so delicious, perfectly seasoned, and it's all-around a great dish. Visited Labor Day weekend of 2015. Had the Super Mario skillet for breakfast - omelette with pancetta, arugula, fresh Parmesan, and crimini mushrooms over roasted potatoes. Excellent! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Friendly, attentive staff. The Cafe, under direction of CIA grad chef Charles Dietrich, prides itself on serving locally grown foods. Recently renovated; don't know what it looked like before, but it is bright, airy, and spotless today. The cafe also provides a supportive work environment for clients of the Mountainside addiction treatment center. Do yourself (and some people trying to improve their lives) a favor, and try the Mountainside Cafe. Not a sacrifice on your part, and you will not regret it. read more

The $6 breakfast sandwich on ciabatta bread is incredible, being that the bread is the perfect consistency for any sandwich, especially one that includes egg. The coffee is wonderful, the building is clean and nice, and the service is great. I visited on a business trip about 3 times over 4 days. The first day, the server forgot our cookie, but we came right back and they gave us a free cookie AND coffee for the trouble. Each day we came the service was better and better. Loved it.
