As I scanned Meraki's online menu before driving about an hour for the latest stop on my Tour of the 2022 CT Yelp Top 25, I immediately knew that I would not be ordering the "Healthy Plate". Although, subsequent review revealed the "HP" included bacon. So maybe "Healthy-ish". In any event, I was pretty sure I wanted to order the "Meraki Porchetta". I did. And it was amazing. The Meraki Porchetta is the type of sandwich that can only be served at a small business. At a corporate place, somebody would complain that you can't serve Porchetta, Spicy Kimchi and Sriracha Aioli on a breakfast sandwich. "It's just not done." Add Tomato, an oozy fried egg and a great brioche bun and you have . . . The Meraki Porchetta. It was drippy in the best possible way. You should never eat it while driving. It was a flavor-filled powerhouse with awesome contrasting textures. I had my favorite breakfast sandwich in recent years last weekend. Unfortunately, it was a Buster Douglas short reign. Because this Meraki Porchetta was everything I thought I wanted, plus some. The greatness just kept coming though. Service was awesome. For me, the top level of service includes the normal like efficient, knowledgeable and friendly, but it also includes inclusiveness and interactivity. I felt like a valued regular rather the first timer I was. There was joking, singing and interest in pet pictures. Shoutout Pasta the Dog! They also serve coffee from my fav CT Roaster Giv. They serve it in one of my favorite ways, black iced and in a Mason Jar. Couldn't ask for more there. Meraki is located on the busy stretch between Litchfield Center and Bantam. They have a few inside tables in their small structure, and seem to play fun music and sing along. They also have a nice shady, outdoor seating area. They serve both breakfast and lunch. I have food businesses I almost always visit whenever I'm in a certain part of the State. Meraki is now one of those businesses. Five Supergiant Stars!!!!! read more

we love everything about this wonderful locally owned and food prepared by THE owners. The effort put into making exceptional foods right down to the breakfast sandwiches, scones and lunch soups and sandwiches and up to the delicious take outs and dinners. It's been a couple years now that we visit this extra special endeavor and apparently it's been a bit harder getting counter help. Food is okay but the service is barely adequate. The last time I was there I placed a simple breakfast order and sat down to read the paper other people entered and placed their orders. They were clearly friends of the cook. I waited and waited as the friends got their orders and then I got mine. As I watched the friends get their orders the cook looked at me and shrugged. First time trying Meraki after driving by for years, definitely will be back soon! I called in my order and the staff were very pleasant and thorough in taking my order. Decent amount of parking in front and I appreciated seeing the accessible ramp on the side for handicap accessibility or even strollers for young children. There is a large outdoor shaded seating area which was very pleasant as the inside gets quite congested with patrons placing their orders and waiting. I ordered the Litchfield Hilly and a small container of broccoli salad. The broccoli salad was very fresh with great textures, the staff was able to easily tell me all the ingredients when asked. The Litchfield Hilly was the bomb with jammed packed flavor; my only issue was that the roll like hot dog bun vessel didn't hold up well. Next time I would definitely get it again but on a different type of roll. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu! read more

I ordered sandwiches for pickup last weekend and prepaid. When I got there, I grabbed a bag of chips to add to my order and went to the counter to see if order was ready. Apparently I was invisible, because I stood there for over 4 minutes while 2 (college? high school?) age female employees had their backs turned to the register and were leaning on the counter, both watching videos on their phone. At one point, they gave an order from the window to someone sitting at a table, then without acknowledging me standing at the register (3 feet away, it's not a big space), they turned around and went right back to their phones. Finally, one of them turned around and rang up my chips and said the sandwiches weren't ready. Went back to their phones. When I saw the order was in the window, they didn't notice. Finally I got their attention and they bagged the sandwiches. Either you need a bell at the counter so customers don't have to shout "hello" to get your employees to notice them, or have a no cell phones out while working rule. I realize it's hard to find employees these days, but noticing customers and ringing them up is the most basic part of their job. The place was quaint and so inviting. With a nice outdoor seating area in back. I went with 3 of my gf's to pick up for for our Boujee picnic at Topsmead and we were not disappointed. I have been wanting to try this restaurant since we moved to the area a few years ago. We finally went to pick up takeout for lunch today. I was always kind of worried about the parking, but there are actually additional spaces in back if the ones in front are taken. They also have an outdoor area where we sat while we waited for our sandwiches. They've done a great job making an area right off a main road special and private. It was really hot today, so I appreciated the shade trees! The menu is right on a big board when you walk in. They have several different sandwiches (vegan and GF options available) along with soups of the day, a cold salad case, coffee drinks, and homemade treats. We went with the cubano, the falafel, some quinoa salad, and a magic bar. Service was super friendly and our food was brought out to us once it was ready. My falafel sandwich was amazing!! I loved the spices in the falafel and it had a good amount of veggies and yogurt sauce. They are making their own falafel and it shows. My fiancé said his cubano was the best he's ever had. They use real baked ham - not deli ham - and it makes a difference. He wished his sandwich was a little bit bigger, but that's a small gripe. The fresh basil was my favorite part of the quinoa salad. It really brightened it up. The quinoa was cooked perfectly. I would have liked a little more seasoning or dressing in the salad. And as for those magic bars? Pure magic, they were. Absolutely freaking amazing. We shared one and I wish we bought two. I don't know what took us so long to visit Meraki, but I can't wait to go back! read more

This is truly a hidden gem in Northwest Connecticut. The unassuming building hides a cute little kitchen and coffee shop serving up everything from hot tea to fresh-baked pastries, breakfast burritos, deli sandwiches, and cold case items. The consensus among our group, however, was that the Rice Bowl was the star of the show. The flavors were beautifully balanced, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. In the warm seasons, the backyard / outdoor seating area is breezy, shaded, and warm, providing a pleasant little haven for hungry travelers. We were planning on taking our food to go, but it was so lovely that we ended up eating out there. Perhaps best of all, the service was incredibly friendly - it really felt like a family-run establishment, and the sense we got was that they truly cared about our experience. A perfect little spot to drop in if you're looking for a quick lunch. We would have never even noticed this place but we pulled up the Yelp app and all it had was 5 stars! Special offer when you check in here ;) their coffee is from Giv coffee and it is... AMAZING. You can really tell it's quality coffee the moment it hits your lips. Our sandwiches were the perfect snack right before we went to Litchfield Distillery. I could only finish half of mine and let me tell you, I threw the second half on the George Foreman the next day and it was even BETTER! It was difficult to pick just ONE thing to eat when their entire menu looks amazing. It seems as if they do catering more than anything and I could totally get why. Hidden Breakfast Gem! I was looking for a place in litchfield for coffee/breakfast on a Friday morning after drop off, and Meraki fit the bill! The egg sandwich and chai tea latte were freshly made and delicious, with vegan and gluten friendly foods in the menu as well. The staff was kind and kid friendly to my adventurous toddler. I was prepared to be impressed based on seeing other rave Yelp reviews and... I was. Damn. We got the: - Meraki Porchetta Sandwich: Oh. My. God. I guess technically a breakfast sandwich, and definitely the best one I've had, maybe... ever? Breakfast sandwiches are among my favorite foods and this one was outstanding. Porchetta, fried egg, kimchi, Sriracha aioli, brioche bun - a deadly combination. Exactly what we needed after a cold morning hike. - Smoked Cubano: really good. Pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, basil mustard (though to me it tasted like regular mustard). Reasonable prices on top of all of this was an added bonus. We also got a GF magic bar which was also REALLY good. Needless to say we ate everything before the thought of "I should photograph this food" entered my mind. My personal MO is to reserve 5 stars for places I've had excellent experiences at on multiple occasions, and this was our first visit here. So four... for now! read more

Service Great! Food Great! I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to eat. There is a good mixture of veggies, meats, and fish. Local eats of course are awesome. Locally grown products are always a plus when eating. I chose the the salmon burger. Let's start with the juicy salmon patty! Perfectly seasoned! The pickled onions super delicious. I love anything pickled. The tarragon aioli was perfect. Last the brioche bun , so soft and lightly toasted! My side was the curried cauliflower so so good. The salmon burger deserves an award. Food was phenomenal! I ordered the House Roasted Turkey BLT and it was loaded with meat. Bacon was very tasty and the bread was fresh. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive to customer needs. It is a small place, but there is plenty of seating both indoor and out. Parking was the only issue. It was very minimal and the lot is difficult to get out of due to the busy road.
