I hired them to move from Seattle, WA to Vancouver, BC and I was definitely not impressed with their service at all. They took apart a lot of my furniture and a road bike at the originating site telling me that they need to save space but they will put it together no problem at the destination. Now once arrived, oh boy .... there were a lot of issues. * They of course couldn't figure out how to put some things together. They made me go to a bike shop on my own to get my bike put together which they again of course did not reimburse for. * They were not careful with handling boxes and furniture pieces at all. There sat on a TV stand and such. I'm surprised that they didn't end up destroying them. * They stop responding to any correspondences when it comes to damage claims and such. Customer service is non existent, * It took 3 weeks for my goods to even start heading to the destination after they have been picked up. I had to literally sleep on the floor for that duration without any furniture whatsoever. I ended up having to buy some kitchen utensils because it took them so long. All in all, the only thing which was good about them was probably a slightly lower quote than a couple of other companies I looked at. I recently moved into Via6 and these guys made moving a breeze. They came on time with all the tools necessary to transport everything from my clothes still hanging on the hangers to the bed, tv, etc. Their professionalism and their carefulness with my stuff were there. It typically takes the whole day to move, but with these guys, all my stuff were were transported and unpacked within just a few hours. Can't ask for better! read more

Bekins went above and beyond to make our move painless and stress free. When they called the day before our move and couldn't reach our home number, they googled my husband and called him at work to make sure we were all set for moving day. They even offered to send an extra guy to pack up the piles of stuff we never got around to packing. On moving day, the guys were friendly and very quick! My house sold faster than I was expecting. I ended up having a two month wait until I moved into my new house. It was no problem - Bekins picked up everything and took it back to their warehouse and stored it until the new house was closed. Then everything was moved directly into the new house. Storage was cheap and I didn't have to worry about it. Prior to using Bekins - I'd used my friends and paid them in pizza. Moving with a professional was soooo fast and had soooo little stress. They just took care of everything. And in researching, they were pretty much the same price as hiring a couple guys off the street. read more

NEVER, EVER USE BEKINS NW. They lost my most valuable items including my china, stemware, Mata Ortiz pot collection, Judaica and my mother's silver serving pieces, among many other things in my recent move from Seattle to Denver. Basically all my housewares are gone along with an extremely valuable Arts and Craft lamp. This happened when they packed up my items in August and put them in storage when my house went on the market. The boxes containing these items disappeared either before they went to the warehouse or in the warehouse. In any event they did not show up in Denver and BEKINS NW accepts no responsibility. Some of these items were never entered into the inventory when they were moved to storage. Dealing with the company has been horrible and Bekins NW CEO Jeremiah (don't know his last name) subtly suggested I have lied about having had these items moved to their storage or that I gave/sold them. Isn't it suspicious that of all the items I moved out of a 2500 sq foot house ONLY these highly valuable ones disappeared?! Please regard this as a warning about this horrible, deceitful company! read more

These people were great. Very responsive. I was doing a cross-town move. Estimator showed up right on time and was very professional. Signing up and scheduling was no problem. I always felt confident they would actually do what they said they would do. Sure enough, on moving day, the 3-man crew showed up, packed and loaded all my stuff before lunch, and had it unloaded and moved into my new place by mid-afternoon, ahead of schedule. No mishaps, kept everything nice and clean, protected my floors. The guys obviously knew what they were doing and were very professional and friendly. After I unpacked everything, they even came back and picked up the boxes -- phew! I would totally recommend this firm to anyone moving in Seattle. read more

Several expensive items were broken and even after purchasing the more expensive insurance, they refused to reimburse for the items simply because we delivered to a storage unit. We took pictures the day of and the driver told us we had 6 months to make any claims. He did not tell us to note anything on forms at the time of delivery, probably because he knew he would be liable for the damages. We are out $500 worth of broken items and will never use Bekins again. read more

Moving with Bekins was great - up until they had our contract. They lowballed the estimate even though their agent did a walk through. Right before the move they up'd the weight by 3000 lbs and the price with it. The movers were told not to mark any damage unless they showed us first, but ended up marking EVERY item (including brand new things bought for the new house) as scratched and scuffed. The truck they sent would have held our things twice over, so they had to use a shuttle to get to the new house. When I refused to pay the additional $900 they charged it to Amex anyway. They claimed it was not their job to send the right sized truck - just one at least large enough to hold our things. Twice as large was fine for them. Never, never use this company. We feel we were cheated, and neither Amex nor the BBB could do anything to help. read more

Worst movers I have ever had, and I have used alot being in the military. At first they are very pleasant nice people. Once they have your stuff and they trick your wife into signing the damaged goods papers which they marked everything they took from us as damaged but did not specify where the damage was located. Everything changes they tried bossing my wife around telling where they are gonna put the stuff being brought in. (I have a feeling if I was there it wouldn't have been that way). Then when we took photos and wrote down all the major damages down and sent it in it took them over 8 months to even get back to us. Basically the most untrustworthy business I have ever dealt with. They have no morals and will do anything in getting out of paying for the damages done to your furniture. Had a brand new couch. Literally 1 month old. They said there was already major damage and scratches on it and would not reimburse us anything, even though my wife watched them scrap it coming in. Please do not use them until they fix their management problems. Oh yea customer service is very disrespectful and will basically call you a lier when trying to make claims. You are not respected at all. read more

When I called to complain they put me through a time-consuming insurance claims process and then denied it because they don't offer insurance. I cannot give Bekins Northwest even one star. Between being packed up, stored and moved I went through 4 different crews. While all the crews were kind and courteous you should not expect your movers to look like their advertising, tucked-in, button down shirt. Instead, think 'day laborer' picked up the Morning of the move and handed a Bekins ball cap. Each crew talked down about the previous crew, as Bekins Northwest had to make 3 deliveries to my home over a 2 week period. This was the result of a poor inventory system and/or not accurately following the inventory system. To date 'their' inventory sheets show 51 items/boxes missing. Some boxes were not tagged, some boxes were labeled from previous other customer moves (labeled office, kitchen, kitchen; I had to open boxes to determine what was in them). I have taken the high road and did my own inventory and though I don't know about all the minutiae, I am so exhausted with the process that I will be writing a check for the balance due. Doug Drainville with Bekins Northwest decided that the problems did not warrant a significant reduction in my approximately $5500 moving expenses. Moreover, he on several occasions pointed out to me that I wasn't being charged for the additional deliveries, crews and expenses accrued having to use the ferry system multiple times. As if that was his concession to my terrible experience! So instead of being outraged by this poor management of my move, I have decided to warn others. DON'T BE ME ... go with ANY other mover, except Olympic movers because they are affiliated with Bekins. read more

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing - I can't say enough about how pleased I was with their service. The initial visit with Paul and Karen was great, and their estimate was reasonable. But when their moving team showed up on time on moving day, we were pleased even further. Nice professional looking team. If you search on reviews for moving companies, 95% will be about horror stories, especially if it involved a move cross-country. I interviewed a dozen moving companies and many made me increasingly nervous about a cross country move. I chose Bekins NW based on a referral from a highly rated mover who does local moves only. Bekins exceeded all my expectations. Jon Warner did a very thorough review of our inventory and explained the move process step-by-step. The movers arrived on the agreed packing/load date and the packers/loaders were professional and did a great job. At the receiving end, shipment arrived on time and the truck was unloaded with no issues and there was no damage at all. During the whole process, the Bekins Move Coordinator kept me informed along each step. While Bekins was not the least expensive (not the most expensive quoted either), they did come in under their estimate. Bekins professionalism, quality of work and time management more than made up for the small extra cost. I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

All I can say is that between Bekins and Assisted Transitions, they absolutely saved my sanity, my marriage, my employment, my health, and my faith.. We had to move my aging father out of his home of 30 years into a 'new' home quickly. Along with the move, we had to then address the 'stuff' and get his lovely (large) home cleaned out, cleaned up, updated, and ready for sale in less than 6 weeks. And I don't live in Seattle... Firstly, Bekins did an EXCELLENT job of moving the selected pieces of furniture that we had to choose from as my dad was downsizing from a big home to a smaller apartment. On moving day there was PLENTY of help provided by Bekins. Nicole helped us pack his clothes (even gave advice on what NOT to take, which was better coming from her than it was from me!) And then Karen (yes the OWNER) helped my father unpack his belongings in his new place. So caring, so personal, so fantastically competent. The guys who moved his stuff took great care, moved gently, and I never worried. Not to belittle that effort, but that was a small task, compared to what had to follow.. the work began in earnest and took every day of the 6 weeks with Nickie Gard from Assisted Transitions (a Bekins company) managing every step of the way..I could only stay in Seattle a couple of the first weeks (I work full time, so was trying to fit this all in around a 60 hour/week job) - and it would have taken me til after Christmas (at the earliest) to get my dad's stuff not only dispersed to family, put in storage or auctioned, or donated or trashed. In addition, the entire house had to be painted inside, new carpeting laid almost everywhere (it was over 30 years old as well), deep cleaned, roof cleaned, yard overhauled, the electrical reworked, just to mention a few items...Assisted Transitions has the BEST contractors - who not only worked under pressure, but provided excellent advice, fantastic service, and on-time, under budget! (GRASSROOTS PAINTING, YOU ROCK!, WE HONEY DO! YOU ROCK!) Nickie worked closely with the real estate agent, taking direction and advice, and then using great judgment, we had daily updates for most of it, she worked terrifically under all different kinds of pressure and direction and to top it all off, we were NOT her only client at the time, but she made us feel that way. In short, Nickie took care of EVERYTHING. Assisted Transitions was more than fair about the fees for their services and I believe we were money ahead as Nickie's knowledge of whom to contact to sell various estate items, value for donations to charity, and using pre-screened contractors whom were fair, fast, and good. I cannot say enough about that team of Bekins and Assisted Transitions. They ROCK! read more

Our biggest issue with Bekins is their insurance coverage. If you select their basic coverage, it's little better than no coverage at all. Bekins tore the fabric on my mother's chair so we submitted a claim to address the damage. The local upholstery shop estimated the repair to cost over $500 dollars. Well, lo and behold, Bekins paid the claim promptly for a whopping $30. The basic insurance policy only covers $0.60 a pound and for a 50lb chair, well, you can do the math. All we can say is read the fine print carefully when you sign the contract. We didn't and now we have a massive repair bill thanks to Bekin's careless handling of our possessions. read more

The driver and helper were terrific, but the front office folks (Julie and Jim) were frustrating to deal with. They were slow to respond and usually were not able to answer questions. Although nice, they were pretty ineffective. I had to rewrite the contract when Jim couldn't seem to get the details correct. Julie was nice, but it would take multiple emails to get her attention. I'm still waiting for her to send me a receipt for the junk donation service. Bottom like, they were just ok. read more

I enlisted Bekins Northwest to help move Mom & Dad's entire home (Dad had passed away and we moved Mom across the state to be with us) and they far exceeded my expectations, especially when I was trying to manage the move process from a distance. Going into it, I thought it would be complicated and stressful to arrange everything needed to pack up the entire inside and outside of the home and move it, having to travel back and forth across the state to make sure things were done like I wanted them; however, Julie took care of everything for me and kept me well informed. In the end, Mom & Dad's home was packed up and moved with 3 days (the entire inside contents, outside contents and even under the house!). Each time I was in contact with Julie, I was very impressed with her availability, her professionalism, and her compassion (during the process of moving my in-laws stuff, my dad passed away so I was dealing with that too and Julie really stepped up and took care of things for me). Whether you are moving locally or long-distance, look no further than Bekins Northwest. We did most of the packing but at our request they came in the day before the move and help finish the packing and only charged us for the time they where packing. The next day the movers showed early and made sure everything was wrapped and loaded safely. They moved everything into the new house and set it up. Dear Public. Second time I have used them first was a Bekins company doing a local move in san Francisco. Second time from Woodinville WA to Vallejo Ca. got good advice from Jon warner who said don t move until you have a place to live. My friend met the movers at the storage space in Woodinville. The crew had to repack a lot of my belongings and they spent an extra eight hours without charging me. They also came 400 dollars under the estimate, They delivered the furniture on time and were very careful how they brought my things in. All 3 times they have moved me within the Puget region they did so flawlessly. Even more important because my furniture is cabinetry I built, so I care more than usual that it be moved properly. These guys know the exact motions to go through to finish the job as fast as possible while maintaining standards. They are a strong argument for NOT TRYING TO DO THIS YOURSELF (unless you are in the biz which most of us are not). The dollars were the going rate, no more, no less, and well worth it. The movers were very friendly and very professional. This fact combined with their high level of responsiveness to specific requests - which helped ensure a smoother and less stressful move - is why they got a five star rating. Also nothing was broken - particularly important to us as we have some expensive furniture. They did a great job rearranging my storage locker which enabled us to realize material cost savings as we were considering renting a larger space. The move did take a few hours longer than expected. We moved from Seattle to Boston in April with ~ 65% of our items and then did the second move in May with the remaining ~ 35% of our items. Downside, the communication of the date of departure from Seattle to the East Coast was very limited and for 1 of the moves, it took much longer to leave Seattle than anticipated. Upside, We had a lot of artwork, lamps and high end furniture - everything arrived in perfect condition which is amazing. Tricky downside is when our goods arrived, my husband's fly fishing rods were nowhere to be found - I was convinced that someone had taken them and my concerns were alleviated when I called Bekins because they all of their crews are long-time employees - but it still bothered me. Yesterday, when I was unpacking my winter coat clothing box, the rods were nestled in amidst the coats. Net, net - if you want a rock solid mover with no damage - Bekins is a great company but just be very, very sure that if you tell them to clearly mark on the outside of the box if they have combined merchandise and to be very very clear when you expect the arrival of your goods if you are doing a cross-country partial move. read more

We hired Bekins to move our household goods within our state with a delivery date of 4/13/15. The move seemed to go well. We had a number of items that broke or were scratched and a claim was filed for those items and Bekins agreed to pay for that claim. However, the night before the arrival of the goods, I had taken off my wedding ring set and watch and put them in our master bathroom on the counter with the intent of putting them on again in the morning. The morning came and with the arrival of the company I forgot to put them on. Four boxes were delivered to the master bathroom by the two younger movers (I know this because they asked me personally where to put the boxes). That night, after dinner, I went into the bathroom and found that the ring set was gone and the watch remained. The watch was inexpensive, but my expensive wedding ring set that I have been wearing for 26 years was missing. I looked everywhere and when it was apparent that the set had been taken I called the police and filed a report, called my insurance company and filed a report and called Bekins iand told them what happened. I then went through the claim process. It took Bekins three weeks before asking for the police report and upon receiving that report denied my claim on the basis that the Police Officer had found nothing (because the police had done nothing) and that there was no proof. What is really important in this situation is that one of the young movers had been hired the week before, after walking into the moving company's offices in Seattle. He had just moved from Hawaii where he said he had worked for Mayflower. I know this because I spoke with him. However, the other movers kept teaching him how to move things. He was not dressed professionally and his manner was not like that of the other Bekins movers. My complaint is in how Bekins handled the loss. Did they investigate on their end? Did they do a background check or get employment verification from a former employer on the new employee before hiring him? From doing many military moves, I know that moving companies hire people off of the street when needed. This pervasive practice of hiring untrained and un-vetted people off of the street to handle personal property needs to stop. I would advise anyone to ask the moving company about the people who will be handling your possessions. When you receive delivery, ask the company the same questions and upon meeting the people who will unload your goods, interview the crew and if you don't like what you see or hear, stop the move right there and demand a new crew or replacements for those that you don't feel fit. You are paying for your move and if your company or the government is paying, it is your stuff and it would be better to wait a day for delivery than receive broken or damaged items and worse case, have things stolen. read more

I have made 20 moves in the last 35 years and each has been either a huge pain or a disaster. I was dreading another move but did have a recommendation for Bekin North West from a friend. We have used just about every moving company and I admit I didn't expect much. Boy, was I wrong! Jim Dessin was our rep. and not only was he courteous, prompt, and helpful but he also engineered a perfect move. We had a complicated scenario as we had things going into storage, being shipped to two states, and some things staying until we could get into a home we were building. There was color coded tape all over everything in our very large house. l expected to find things delivered all over the place but every single thing ended up where it was supposed to and with out any damage! Jim was there to direct packing and loading, introduced us to our driver and checked in on him and supervised our unloading. He and his packing, unpacking, and loading teams and the driver, Grover, were all professional, courteous, and careful. The cost was very reasonable and the value was exceptional. We have had so many terrible moving experiences but this one made up for all 20 of the bad. We just can't say enough. If we ever have the opportunity to recommend a moving company to relatives or friends, we will urge them to give Jim D. a call. In fact, one of our neighbors saw the truck at our home, called him and enjoyed a great move. read more
