Movie theater in Elizabethtown which is the cheaper option but I won't be back. First red flag was seeing everything chained down. Including the salt shakers, and padlocking the toilet paper. An average movie theater but still the best in town. Pros: 3-D movie capable, no previews on some so the movie starts at the listed time, big lobby, big theaters and plenty of screens. The concession area is self-serve so you can get an extra empty bag for sharing popcorn and control your own butter amount. Cons: No previews on some so there's nothing to watch if you're early and nothing to give you extra time if you're running late (I'm also a big fan of previews myself). The self-serve style concession area can get crowded and difficult to navigate and exit. Also, despite the extra lot to the side, parking can be a challenge since the original lot design wasn't a good one (you can find yourself making figure 8's through the parking lots or having to exit and re-enter to find a spot). 3-D movies are exempt from any special offers. read more

This used to be the only move theatre in elizabethtown. Right after we moved here they did get a few big rooms renovated and they were much better. It's a fine place to see a movie and even though it's not the next in the world the family is nice and the staff is nice and it's what we've got. I hope they don't close just because the new big one is opening soon. read more

Small town movie theater Plenty of parking but I could see how it would be hard to find if you don't know where it is. Looks like a warehouse. Prices are about the same at other theaters. Popcorn and soda maybe a tad cheaper but not much. Place was clean. No sticky floor. Seats were comfy. Only real complaint was the theater was FREEZING and finding where to go was a challenge. They have a ticker at the top of every room and you have to wait for it to cycle through to know if you're at the right place. Bring a jacket read more

Pros: its local and you don't have to go to Louisville. Concessions not to expensive. Sound system descent. Con's: seats are so old that you are almost laying on the lap of the people behind u. Patrons regularly put their feet up on the seats in front of them...must be a Kentucky thing (no class). Popcorn quality varies depending on time of day. No military discounts. Overall its adequate and gets the job done but owner really needs to invest in this place and bring into the 21st century. read more

"Palace" in the same sense as the slider chain is really a "Castle." Went here to see a movie - first time in years, and frankly, I can say literally nothing has been updated in well over a decade (more like two and a half), from the grotty bathrooms to the grotty floors to the oversold movies. I could honestly care less about 3d movies and late night premiers; I'd rather have a comfortable, clean theater where I wasn't worried about ceiling tiles falling on me. True story: back when I was a regular visitor to this place, there would often be sections of seats roped off for weeks after roof leaks (I assume) would cause the drop ceiling panels to get soaked and collapse. Awesome! (Will go without saying what the likely longer-term implications of leaks are on today's air quality in the theaters.) The pro: cheaper tickets (particularly for matinees) than many other theaters for first-run, mainstream movies that don't offend the local PsTB. Awesome! The cons: somewhere between 10 - 20% of the seats in any given theater are broken (heavily distributed among the "best" seating in the mid-level of theaters. So, you can get stuck either forced to sit down front or forced to sit in a broken chair for a few hours. Either way, hope you brought some Motrin, because you're leaving this place with a backache and walking funny. Awesome! The snack area is poorly laid out and offerings are limited. The popcorn is meh, both because of unpopped kernels and burnt popcorm (how is it possible to have so much of both in the same bag???), no seasoning (there's a "season it yourself" stand on the opposite side of the "holding pen" with popcorn flavor and butter/salt sprinkle - no butter, though), and temperature (cold). The bathrooms, though, are on a par with bad, filthy, often broken gas station facilities, with the added plus of lines out the door and down the hall. Probably fewer truckers, though. All in all, a pretty sad place to spend an afternoon / evening. It's going to be awhile before I'm moved to go back. It's the only movie theater in town (and the spot in Radcliff is monumentally horrendous). I will say, though, that the friendly woman who takes tickets (and has, for at least the last 15 years, should memory serve) is always pleasant and helpful. read more

Good Movie Theater, Good Pricing compared to a National Theater like AMC. Updated Movie theaters, seating and surround sound but bathrooms really need to be updated especially the ones in the middle or the "old back bathrooms". If you go to a movie that has been out for awhile, bring a sweater or light jacket, it gets chilly in half empty or less theater. If you have back problems they don't mind if you bring a small pillow to give you support with the newer recliner seats. It is pretty boring if you get there early, they show mostly advertising until it's time for the movie. One thing that I think is pretty awesome, even though Movie Palace is considered a "small town" theater...the owner thinks of his patrons, He updated the theater, we have 3-D movies and he gets the latest movies, so when you see a commercial for a movie that is only has advanced showing at selected theaters...he is one of them!! We have Midnight showings of blockbuster films and not to mention all those movies that people camp out for, he's got them! He doesn't disappoint when it comes to movies, just those bathrooms is my only criticism. read more

Small town movie theater with good prices. The lobby is a bit confusing with mutliple lines for concessions, entry to the theater, and a line for people waiting for upcoming shows. I appreciated only seeing a couple of previews unlike some theaters that should 30 minutes of previews before a movie! My only complaint where the restrooms. They were old and not very clean. The ceiling vent in one of the restrooms was cakes with dirt/dust. Overall a decent experience though! read more

I would give this .5 star if I could! This is the only theater in our vicinity and it hasn't been updated since it opened, what 20 years ago? One of my main complaints, is the fact that the owner refuses to play a movie if he doesn't like it, yea, it's is right to do so, that doesn't make it right. So the latest casualty of his short mindedness is Straight Outta Compton. This movie has received excellent reviews across the country. I will have to drive elsewhere to watch it and so be it, he should worry tho if he does this a few more times he may lose a lot of business, if he hasn't already. read more

Awful! I don't typically give bad reviews but this was by far the worst theater ive ever been to. It stunk so, so bad. The popcorn was premade/prebagged, all concessions were self serve. The candy selection was minimal. It was very dirty and old. The screens are small. The surround sound isnt big enough for the theater. The seats, were second worse to the smell. They were old and you will be leaning back in them whether you like it or not. All you hear through the entire movie are squeaking seats. I was so uncomfortable I had trouble focusing on the movie. Luckily, we're just visiting and don't have ever go back. read more

Been here multiple times since etown is my husbands hometown. It used to be disappointing cuz most of the chairs were broken. But to our surprise as our second time seeing Star Wars and the in-laws first, new seats!!! Awesome leatherish seats that lean and they are super comfy for a 2 hour movie. Can't wait to come back and sit in them again! Plus 8 bucks for a Saturday night movie is cheap compared to most other movie theaters we've been to. read more

The place is always clean and the staff is always very friendly. The candy is overpriced (as it is in most theaters) but overall it is a great theater. It's easy to see from the street and they give discounts to kids, vets, regularly and for early showings on sundays. They recently replaced all the chairs with comfy leather ones. I bring my family here all the time. We've never had one complaint but theatres are usually cold so i always bring a jacket or a blanket for the kids. read more

Seats broken. Movies constantly not formatted to screen right and/or getting messed up in the middle of film. Sticky floors and armrests. Rude staff (except for the older ticket taker lady, she's nice). Teens are allowed to be unruly, even when management is notified. Dirty carpets. Holes in walls. Bathrooms atrocious. Mold in ceilings. Over half of parking is in gravel & even the small paved part needs repaving. My recommendation is to avoid this place, spend a few more $$, & go to Stoneybrook IMAX in Louisville. read more

We are pretty happy with The Movie Palace. We've taken our 5yr old with Autism and there's not many places that will understand the way he is. The staff are friendly and nice, especially the young man, Trajan. Also good to see some upgrading with the seats. No complaints here, after all Rome wasn't built in a day.:) read more

Coming from a larger city where the movie houses are 'caddies' has been difficult to adjust to. The staff is really nice. The prices are lower than big cities. It was easy to get here. I have been in each screening room now and they are always clean and you can see well from any seat. They put money into remodels. I'm just glad they have the newest movies each. Plus, they have one day with a discount for military. I go two or three times a month. read more

Went to see the 2 o'clock showing of Insurgent with my daughter and granddaughter. We got there early along with numerous other movie goers. Went in to find our seats at 1:35 and the movie had already started. All the signs said showing at 2 o'clock. Very disappointing. We will not be making the hour long trip to this theater again. read more

Normally I don't have any issues with this theatre. Its a bit dated but there are plans to install reclining seats. Popcorn is good. Prices are fair and comparable. Some of the theatre rooms smell a bit. Need some Lysol. I do think their should be an age limit on babies/toddlers. We could not enjoy the movie because there was a 2 yr old being very loud or crying repeatedly. Yes, we were watching a childs movie, 'Nine Lives' but, we paid good money (evening show) to see a good movie. read more

I honestly wouldnt give it a one star, but I had to put something so I could review it. Being local it's the only "local" theater, so there's that. We as consumers are stuck watching only what the owners deem ok to play. So the latest example is we won't be able to see Straight Outta Compton, unless we drive elsewhere...that's BS! THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME EITHER. I'm a responsible adult, I say, play the damn movie, let people decide what they do and don't want to see! They are improving this theatre by installing new reclining seats. I find it awful that the reviews has been dragged down by comparing this small town theater to big city theaters and big chains. The prices are great compared to every big city theatre, including those in Louisville, KY, Nashville, TN and Orlando FL, that I have gone to. The concession stand could stand some updates, more choices, but the prices of popcorn and other food items is cheaper than anywhere I have eaten in bigger cities. You can get a ticket, popcorn and drink under $20 whereas it costs nearly $30 elsewhere. The popcorn is fresh and you have choice of hot butter, that YOU put on or popcorn salt that YOU put on, unlike most big chains in big cities. Someone complained that the owner only plays movies he finds acceptable to play, it is his business, if you don't like it, you don't have to go there, easy. By the way, the person that complained that it must be Kentucky thing to put feet on seats, I have seen this in theatres in Atlanta, GA and Chicago, IL, so I guess there are rude people everywhere! read more

So me and four other family members went to see the new Tyler Perry movie. The movie started at 9 we got there around 8 got in line around 830. There was a large crowd but i had never been to the theater so i thought this was typical. I stood in line for 20 minutes just to be told that since i was not watching magic mike that i to go stand in another line. And then to stand there while all the other people who were there to see a sold out movie went in. People we pushing and being rude. There was no organazation at all. The staff was just atanding around with thier phones recording the chaos. Ii think they should have signs indicating different lines for different movies. And there was only one lady taking tickets. It was also really hot in the theater. I was disappointed and i will stick to the radcliff one. read more
