I had a really bad experience at Movie Trading in North Richland Hills. I bought a pre-owned game and a controller, and right after purchasing I realized the controller was wired, which I didn't want. I tried to get a refund literally seconds after buying it, and they refused to refund it right away. On top of that, the pre-owned game was $50 and came with scratches and visible fingerprints, which is unacceptable for that price. The controllers were also priced the same as brand-new controllers, which makes no sense. Overall, poor customer service, overpriced items, and no flexibility even when the issue was caught immediately. I won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend this place to others. read more

Been here a few times, great selection of movies, games, and figures. Have a bought a few figures here at a decent price and they seem to cycle through with new ones every now and then. Great place to trade in or buy used CDs and DVDs. Prices are very inconsistent, though. One thing will be a great deal and something else will be overpriced. Wish they gave a tad more for trade-ins, and service could use a bit of work, but I recommend them. read more

The dying out of local video stores can make it difficult to find an old classic you want to watch today. Sure, if it's on Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, etc, you can always get it on-line, but every now and then, the movie I'm dying to see is a few shipping days away. We moved to a new neighborhood, in East Fort Worth, and noticed a Movie Trading Company location, on Pipeline, across from Northeast Mall. It took me a year to get around to visiting them. The occasion was our getting a new 65" 4K TV and Blu-Ray player with 3D capabilities. Suddenly, I wanted to get some Blu-Rays, especially 3D ones, to try out the new rig. The store sells and rents DVDs, Blu-Rays and video games. They also sell LPs (remember those?), posters and more. Pricing on new discs was a little lower than Amazon's, even if shipping were free. I bought several movies and a couple posters for my teenage daughter. They had a good selection of Blu-Rays, even 3D Blu-Rays. Their Blu-Ray stock filled two aisles running the length of the store (4 racks). We had an ice storm, in the Dallas area, that kept us all home the next day, so I was all set for a day of movies, on the couch, wrapped in blankets! The discs were all in good shape, both new and used. However, when I got to one particular movie, the disc would not play. I checked the encoded side of the disc, and it looked flawless. Maybe the new Blu-Ray player was the issue. No, the disc would not play in our older Blu-Ray player either. I checked on-line and found the issue appeared to be with discs made by Lion's Gate Films. Now, I worried that the store would only give me another copy of the same movie and it may have the same issue. My concerns were vanquished by a call to the store. The friendly person who answered the phone said they would refund the disc purchase, if we couldn't find one that played properly. I asked if they had a Blu-Ray player we could test their discs with, but they didn't. He said he could use one of their PS-3s to test them. I decided playing in a game console would not necessarily mean it would play in my player, so I took my Blu-Ray player. As it turned out, that was a good move. Only one of the four copies they had would play in my player! Once I got the replacement disc, I shopped for a few more. In their Blu-Ray boxed sets, they had 3 of the Mission Impossible movies for a good price. The boxed sets are locked in a case, so I asked my salesperson for assistance. He showed me they also had a set that had all 4 MI movies for only a couple dollars more, a much better deal. In speaking further with the fellow I spoke with on the phone, I found they have a few really cool policies: If you rent a disc and decide you'd like it, instead of returning the disc, you just pay for the disc MINUS THE RENTAL FEE YOU ALREADY PAID! If you buy a disc and don't like the movie, return it within the normal rental period (3-5 days, depending on the movie) and they'll refund the purchase, keeping just the rental fee. If you sign up for their email list, they send you coupons and sale announcements. Needless to say, I signed up. read more

We had just gotten out of the movie theater's, which was 30min till closing time for them. And I have to say they were very friendly, greeted us when we walked in the door (and not the usual oh yay someone came in right before closing time) a sincere greeting. They have lots of movies, tv shows, and all kinds of games for different consoles. We have been looking for Left 4 Dead 2 and finally found it here. Movie Trading Company is our favorite place to buy DVDs, music CDs, and even games. They sell both used and new items and their stock is much more diverse than the big chain stores. Plus, they've got cool posters, a wide range of boxed tv show sets, classic movies (from horror to drama to foreign) and contemporary hits. The staff are young people with definite funky styles and attitude. I love it! And they're very helpful but will leave you alone if you just want to browse. read more

Pretty cool place. Game systems and records, you name it. I happen to like the people up front, they are the down to earth type. I guess others would like the more blonde uppity type, but I like going to places without the typical snob who fake tans too much and has transparent teeth. It is a little pricey now that red box is out (not sure how others could compete) but they get some movies before Redbox and have pretty good sales. I love going and finding all the classics, because theres just nothing like a good throw back. read more

Good selection on used DVDs ... a bit high a lot of times but honestly the same price if I bought used online with shipping. Honestly the best time to shop there is when they do the buy 2 get one free on used DVDs ... my mom usually jam packs her DVR with movies she has on VHS but not on DVD so I usually go and pick up the things she has on her DVR for her during those sales and that's how we've ended up with as many kid movies as we have. They give a better price on the things they buy so I will usually come here before going to half price books, you can still get more for stuff online but you save the having to deal with shipping and so on. Customer service sucks. I called in to get the charlie brown holiday collection I had gotten a coupon for that my daughter asked for birthday or Christmas, they didn't have any and they said they would put one on their next shipment and would call me when it came in. A few months later, after Christmas and my daughters birthday, I finally I got a call from them that they had it. Luckily I had gotten it from another store already & they hadn't taken any money from me on it. When I went to sell my 360 they couldn't figure out what size system I had, and told me they couldn't buy it because I had altered it because I put an external hard drive in to the system. She showed me what they sold and took back and its exactly what I had in my system I just had no idea how to take it out & obviously they didn't either because they had no idea what they were talking about & they said I couldn't take it home to have my husband take it out and come back to prove that's what it was ... I would have to come back tomorrow. I went ahead and sold my games, and took the 360 ACROSS the STREET & sold it that store cause the guy knew exactly what I meant by the extra hard drive took it out and they bought it as well. read more

So I Went back today to sell a gift card, and STILL "can't do anything to help me" because someone on their end for whatever reason, doesn't know how to use a phone to check a voicemail or return a phone call. It's an "ok" place. They do nothing well but a lot of little things good. We have been going there for 5 years- mainly to rent. Well twice now they have accused us " of not returning a movie" ...both times their fault. They ask waaaaay to much for new movies. read more

Great place to buy used media. Not so great to sell used media. They give way too little for cash sales and even trade sales are ok but not the best, the percentage of what they sell it for compared to what they give you in cash or trade is to high a mark up. But still they are low enough prices to buy good used media. read more

Will never go here again. I used to love this place for their selection and the nice employees. I've been a customer for about 3 or 4 years and recently got accused of keeping a movie that I turned in and it was charged to my account. They took it off but a week later were calling about it again. I've never had a problem until recently which would suggest a new employee taking a movie out of the case and stealing it. I let the manager know my concern of renting again as I wanted to make sure movies would be checked in by an honest person and instead of calming my fears of renting again and assuring me I could hand it in to a trusted person he told me he couldn't discuss it and had to go. He insisted it was just a movie(as if I still have it). I wasn't referring to that movie but fear of going into the store again after this happened to me. What kind of manager WANTS to lose a loyal customer of 4 years to a movie one of their employees stole and then hangs up on me. I will never shop here again. What terrible customer service and to make me feel like i did something wrong. This manager needs customer service skills and needs to put a camera on their employees.
