I was absolutely astonished how quick, efficient, and professional this company executed my service. My things were in storage in Alexandria near Van Dorn. It was enough to fill a one bedroom apartment. The got the stuff out of the storage and into my apartment (including assembly of my bed and attaching my mirror to dresser) in less that two hours. They treated all of my stuff with care. It was all wrapped with moving cling and put on moving carts to ensure no scratched or breaks. My two movers were Daniel and David. These two men were so pleasant and answered all of my questions. The even put down moving blankets to ensure they didn't mess up my new carpet. I would use this company a thousand times over and recommend to any young professional that is moving alone. You wont have to lift a finger. read more

Horrible experience with these guys. First they show up almost 1 hour late. Then they back the truck up onto the grass and sidewalks so the ramp will drop into literally the inside of the house. If thats wgat you thoight would be a good idea, why not ask me first? So there are 3 of them, so I wasn't surprised when 1 stayed back in the truck the entire time to organize stuff the others carried in. But he spent the first 20 minutes cleaning the debris and trash out of the truck because they came by with it dirty. I lost track of how many times I caught at least 2 and sometimes all 3 standing around in the back of the truck watching videos on their phones. At a minimum or 10 different times, no exaggeration. Come lunch time I offered to buy them pizzas hoping that would give them some energy and motivation to get it in gear. They said they wanted 2 large pizzas and 30 wings to eat. What?? Later they let a stack of boxes tip over which of course had dishes in it which all broke. Probably $100 worth of broken dishes including some heirlooms. Oh and then of there was the guy who used my bathroom twice to number 2. Awful, awful experience. read more

This was my first time using a moving service, and it was wonderful! I was in a one bedroom apartment in Alexandria, with 43 stairs and no elevator, and moving into a one bedroom apartment in Arlington. I had the basics: a bed, bed frame, couch, shelves, TV stand, large flat screen TV, side tables, night stands, coffee table, a XL tub of clothes, bags of clothes, etc. I was told to be ready between 12 and 4, and they called and were there at 12:20. It took them literally less than 20 minutes to clear out the apartment. The two men were fast and efficient. They wrapped the couch, and we were off. Including a 30 minutes drive, it took them from 12:20 to 1:18. I did have everything boxed and waiting in the living room, and I took the majority of the fragile items prior. English was not the mover's first language, but that was not an issue with my move. I paid the $185 in cash ahead of time, but no additional cost was necessary. I have used Moving Soldiers back in 2014 was satisfied and used Jan of 2017 and was completely satisfied. First move was from Annandale to Herndon 1+1 apartment to a 2+1 condo both 2nd floor, the movers were very fast and took the toll road with no additional charge to me, to come faster!.. It was 270 bucks something then I tipped them. 2nd move which just happened, was from Herndon to Herndon 2+1 condo to a single house and I am completely satisfied. The guy's name was Antonio and he had another colleague. I got 17feet truck and 2 man. %60 if my items were boxed rest was large uneven stuff and it cost $305. They were fast and wasn't slacking I was next to the truck most times, and telling them where everything goes. They have enough and professional material to wrap things, items were wrapped properly. One guy did not speak English but hey moving my place has nothing to do with that and I could not care less about it, also Antonio did speak it good enough. They provided me a receipt of payment at the end, I had to call the main office twice 1 for schedule confirmation (they were very responsive on the email I thought it was automated, 2nd time was I could not find the screws for the bed and the lady on the phone said, they should be taped to bed's head or other bed items and that's where they were. This shows that they are organized. I will used them and recommend around. This is probably as best as it gets with the price. No damage no lost items, no rudeness, totally satisfied. read more

I just used Moving Soldiers out of Manassas on Saturday. They are definitely a great company to use for my short distance move! The two men arrived about 8 mins early, scoped out the job, wrapped furniture, were cautious with hardwood floors and walls and loaded things up as requested. These people are worst. They left my place without completing the job and without notice. Due to this we had to face lot of trouble. We had worst experience with the manager when we reported that the movers left without notice. Instead of giving options the manage was very indifferent and was very rude. Three guys showed up and were on time. I paid the required amount of cash upfront and everything seemed to be going relatively smoothly... Fast forward ten minutes and I see them taking 15 minutes to wrap a cat tree in a 2 inch thick layer of shrinkwrap. Not necessary, considering it's sturdy, not fragile, carpeted cat tree...I start thinking that this might take longer than the two hours we were quoted... There were several issues: (1) One guy decided to drag a military-cargo bin across our wood floors, leaving two 15ft scrapes in our hardwood. It would have taken a minute to wait for another set of hands - even my husband and I were jumping in to help - but instead, this is when he decided to rush. (2) We have a very tall, floor to ceiling shelving unit that comes apart in two manageable pieces. I know for a fact that the two pieces are manageable because my husband and I built them in the living room and carried them upstairs to the nursery while I was pregnant. They are not too heavy nor are they too big to navigate on stairs. However, these geniuses (sarcastic obviously) decided to it completely apart, cam-locks and all, and carry approximately 20 separate pieces to the truck. When we reached the new house, they weren't able to remember how to put it together. Shocker. This is what happens when you completely take something apart and don't even take a picture of how it's supposed to go back together. So, my husband and I, and these three, were standing in the new house trying to tell them how to put our furniture back together. My husband and I were trying to tell them how to put it back together, meanwhile, one guy was just screwing things together willy-nilly style. Several screws were stripped, one screw busted completely through the wood because he just broke/yanked the piece off instead of unscrewing it. Just a disaster. I eventually had to tell them to LEAVE so we could figure it out ourselves. Really irritated me because we paid several hundred dollars for this unit as storage space for our baby when I was pregnant and these guys just sloppily trashed it. She's not even a year old yet. Completely preventable, just like the damage to the wood floors. (3) They also left black marks on our brand new carpet with greasy shoes. (4) Also, as they were unloading, I could see inside their truck from the windows (they didn't know this) and saw them sitting down and drinking/eating after nearly every trip to the truck. Really annoying when you're paying them by the hour. Overall, the lead driver was relatively good, seemed competent. The second guy didn't have a clue - he was wandering around like a lost sheep (he's the one who took apart our shelving unit but couldn't remember how to get it back together). The third guy was a complete and total waste. He literally went #2 TWICE, each time taking about 20 minutes. He also disappeared to the 7-11 down the street for a loooong time. This is the guy who couldn't wait to get assistance carrying the military cargo box and damaged our floor. Victor and his crew did an amazing job moving us yesterday. They were fast efficient and very cautious with our belongings. I can't thank them enough for the professionalism. We had a three bedroom townhouse approximately 3000 square feet and opted for 3 guys and truck. It required two trips and 11.5 hours. I hired Moving Soldiers because I just needed half of a 10x10 storage unit moved to a ground-floor apartment less than a mile away and the company had a 2-hour minimum deal for 2 movers at a total of $185. I had called numerous other companies and none would waive their 3-hour minimum requirement. The next-lowest quote was $375 for the job, and the highest I received was a whopping $650 (must think we're all idiots). I was a bit nervous after reading other Yelp reviews, including one mentioning a "scam," but in fact Moving Soldiers did a great job and showed no sign of being anything other than a completely legitimate and professional moving outfit. The guys showed up 15 minutes late, but then, every other company I spoke with would only provide an hour-long arrival window, whereas Moving Soldiers allowed you to pick a specific time provided it was before 1000. So even at 15 minutes late, I was able to start at 0830 rather than have a window of 0900-1000. The two guys were really nice, knew what they were doing, and were very careful with my stuff. The equipment (truck, blankets, carts) was standard. While I did help out with the job in order to be able to get in to work as soon as possible, the whole job took less than 90 minutes and certainly could have been finished in 2 hours without my help. Moving Soldiers has somewhat the feel of a budget operation. Their insurance appeared to be the minimum required, and probably not adequate to cover major damage to anything moderately valuable. But they got the job done well, and I was very happy to use them rather than get completely ripped off by one of the myriad other companies I called, who apparently "can't" waive their three-hour minimums because it's the "busy season" (even though they seemed to have no problem scheduling me on any day I wanted) and thus they can't pass up the opportunity to charge the customer for work not performed. Finally (and also in reference to other negative reviews), the company made very clear that I'd have to pay the $185 in cash at the start of the move. Since there was no deposit required, that seemed reasonable. And there were no hidden fees -- the $185 was it. Moving Soldiers gets 4-5 stars in my book. read more

Moved my items from a 3rd floor apartment into storage. The 2 men moving had everything out of the apartment within 45 min. They even shrink wrapped some of my items such as my mattress and box spring to have it take up the least amount of space as possible. When we got to the storage unit it looked like all of the items would not fit. But, instead of giving up, the 2 men worked their magic and some how rearranged the items to make it work. I understand Moving Soldiers have multiple crews and while I don't want to throw everything in the same bucket it is the business of management to separate bad apples. Here is my experience from 07/20/2018. Fact: we were moving from small, 2-bedroom townhouse in Arlington to Annandale. It's not that much stuff to move, it was estimated for 4-5 hours move. 1. Crew showed up 1 hour and 15 min late. They said one guy (the youngest) just overslept and showed up late. 2. Once they eventually started moving boxes (I had everything packed perfectly) I realized one guy (the youngest) loaded the box to the truck and then spend long time on the smartphone giggling, etc. That routine repeated multiple times before I joked that I'd collect all smartphones into deposit box. That didn't help and second time I asked for the smartphone to be put away. At that time I realized he didn't speak English at all (fine, I am an immigrant too, I understand the pains) , so I complained to the person identifying himself as a lead. He said the reason the other guy was on the phone was family emergency. Right... That was pure lying in my face. After I expressed my doubts about family emergency the lead got upset and was ready to walk away from the job. It took some effort to let them stay. 3. Lunch time. It is not part of the deal to buy lunch for the crew but I always do that so I said I'd by some pizza and asked about their lunch time. Then they started being picky about pizza (what the heck!?!?) and eventually after some negotiations I got them meals from Zoes, based on individual requests. Amazing. 4. At first I was very happy with my movers until I discovered that one of our tv's was missing. I called the office to see if maybe it might still be on the truck, the gentleman on the phone immediately starting pointing fingers at me such as: did you see them carry it out of the house? did you see them place it on the truck? like it was my fault. I tried to explain and he kept talking over top of me so I raised my voice. He hung up on me and I keep trying to call back and now they won't answer the phone. These folks were the worse. They sent the wrong number of men, the wrong size truck, came early and asked for $100 and pretended not to speak English!!!! When I called the company and asked to speak to a manager about the policy, a female cursed me out and said, "I don't give a (expletive) about our policy, unless you pay $100 we won't move you. And we WON'T send you the right sized truck!" That wasn't helpful because I was moving 2 hours away and couldn't do more than one trip. After the lady cursed me, hung up and wouldn't assist me, I had to ask the guys to leave. This is the worse company. I have never had someone curse me out when they did the wrong thing. Worst company ever! DO NOT USE THEM! They only sent 4 men and one truck to move our 5 bedroom fully furnished 4,000 sq ft home. 2 trips and 15 hours later, 9am - midnight, we still didnt have our entire house moved and have to hire another company. They spoke little English and were RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL not to mention SLOW!!!! The manager YELLED and CURSED us out when we finally called to complain at 9pm. She told us to pay what we were quoted and the moving guy just kept yelling at us that he worked all day and needed to be paid. Needless to say we had to pay more than we felt fair b/c we didn't want the police or court involved. IT WAS AWFUL!!!! STAY AWAY!!! BAD BUSINESS. Not to mention they broke a glass top to the one coffee table and said I had no reason to be upset. Then proceed to bust a drawer to an entertainment stand and say "es okay" "es okay" ... ummmm no it's BROKEN! In response to the manger's attempt to make it seem our fault. I have no problem with skin color. They were rude from the onset and unwilling or unable to speak English. I tried to help them and they were obviously UNWILLING to deal with a WOMAN. I had my husband handle it. I was running errands and preparing the other home so I wasnt the problem. The yelling began after furniture was broken with zero apology. No concern just OH WELL and SCREAMING at me that they are just working their ass off and I wasn't working so I had nothing to say about my items being destroyed. We didnt call until 9pm at night because were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they would get the job done. You ought to be ashamed for placing your customers and employees in that position. A 15 hour day is uncalled for. You misquoted. I used American Budget Moving (AKA Moving Soldiers) this past week which was a BIG mistake. The receptionist is rude and condescending... I called to confirm my appointment and she was rude. I called again to explain what happened and she was rude. Quality customer service never goes out of style. Word of mouth remains the best advertising. The day started out well - the movers were polite and professional. I labeled each section, "apartment" and "storage". I boxed up about 75% of my household goods and the rest I am transporting to the apartment or storage. I just sold a three bedroom condo and I booked two hours and three men (I counted four). Only one of the men spoke English and he translated to the other workers. We walked through the house together and he checked back with me several times with regards to the destination of each item. I advised right away that we would stop at the storage facility first and he acknowledged it. As we moved closer to the two hour time, it looked we were going to exceed the allotted time. I spoke with the lead mover and I advised when we left to go to the storage, I would accompany them and proceed to withdraw more cash so that I can pay them and include a tip [for all of them]. I even ordered pizza and had cold water on hand as I stated that I am dissatisfied with the company's response NOT the workers. I went to obtain cash as I was not advised that I could use my credit card until the end - it even states that on their contract. Once they finally got everything into the apartment, I realized that approximately 80% of the boxes there were destined for the storage. When I alerted the lead mover, he advised they could take it all back and bring the items that should be at my apartment for a charge. I politely told him that I would not pay him to take my items back to where they should have been already... he remained professional and I advised that I would contact the office on Monday. When I contacted the office this morning, the receptionist was rude and did not bother to listen to the entire story. She told me that they would do anything because I should have supervised what went in the storage. I did NOT realize that I worked for them and and should have checked each box, which would have added more time to my bill. I thought that acknowledgement by the workers of my plans would have been enough. I was advised by the receptionist that I was going to have to move all my items myself and I explained that is why I hired movers. I also explained I had surgery two months ago from a torn meniscus, bruised bone, and partially torn ACL, I could not and should not be lifting boxes which could further damage my knee. I was advised that was besides the point. I didn't realize that she could negate my physical health when that was the reason I hired movers to begin with... if I could have moved my items, then I would have and saved the $500 they charged me. I learned an important lesson, not all companies are customer service - oriented and reputable. More importantly, a simple fix to this would have been to listen and provide quality customer service, perhaps send a crew over to rectify the situation. I hired Moving Soldiers for a small in-town move and could not be happier with my experience. At first, I wasn't sure if it was going to be legit or not, since I hadn't seen any Yelp reviews, but everything turned out great. The two movers (forgetting their names) showed up early and did not charge me for the extra time. They moved quickly and carefully and were extremely friendly and funny. Moved from Woodbridge to Stafford and was quoted $185 ($75 convenience fee, $110 initial two hours) and $55 for each additional hour for two men and a truck. Gave credit card info to hold reservation ONLY. We paid $200 cash upfront of $295 when movers arrived for our four hour move (1.5 hours to move items from a basement only, 35 minute travel and remainder unloading at new location). Movers were very slow initially until we started to push things to move faster. Company sent three men; two workers and one sat in truck supervising. Other than movers coming early, driving extremely slow to the new location and starting slow. I have no other complaints with them. They did not break anything and were friendly. My complaint comes when remainder of payment was rendered. The movers asked for $315 not $295. I called the office and spoke with a very unprofessional and nasty women. I told her I was quoted a $75 convenience and not the $95 convenience fee the movers were asking for. She told me that was the price I was quoted and it costs more to move from Woodbridge to Stafford. I did not make my reservation with her... It was a man who quoted me the exact price from the website for VIRGINIA RATES ($75 fee). He nor the website said/say anything about a $95 convenience fee. I told her that the website even says $75 and she told me they don't honor their website. What type of business practice is that?!? She also informed me that they record their calls so she knows I was quoted the $95 fee. I told her to go back and find the recording and we will hear what I was quoted. Of course she did not do it. I told her I will only pay what I was quoted and nothing more. She then threatened me by saying she will charge my reservation credit card for the amount. I told her the HELL if she will and I will report her and the company for fraud. I hung up on her and paid the men the remainder of what I was originally quoted. We asked for a receipt especially because we paid cash and they did not want to give us one, but after a mild argument we were given the receipt. We were prepared to tip the movers $40, but because of the unprofessional actions of the women I spoke with, the movers did not get the tip. I also notified my bank! I would have been more than willing to pay the $95 fee if that is what was originally quoted, but because it was backhanded I will always stick to the principle of the matter! This company has scammed others out of money as I found out they moved someone else I know and actually got over on them. Be careful if you use the company and expect them at the very least to attempt to fraud you. My recommendation...STAY FAR AWAY! Let me ask again... I couldn't be happier with 'Moving Soldiers.' I paid for the 2hr package (2 men, 2 hours, 1 truck) to move some very heavy furniture and lots of boxes to a storage unit. The guys (Richard and Oscar) were on time, very friendly, and worked nonstop the entire time. I've used a lot of moving companies, but I've never seen movers carry more weight than these two guys (three 'paper boxes' of books at a time) and nothing was even slightly damaged! I underestimated the amount of time I needed, but it was no problem adding an extra hour for $55 (no hidden / extra fees). I have never had this experience before I was calling about pricing on a small move - basically involving one closet full of clotihing and small items as my household items are in storage until my home is ready. I asked about the cost and I was given a $195 price and as to the small amount of items, i inquired if there was a lower price possible as it was only going to take about an hour, or was this a set minimum price.. I was told very rudely that this was the price, I responded ok and I asked if their movers were employees of their company and were bonded. The woman responded back in the rudest manner possible, and was extremely flippant as to how dare I ask that question. I said I didn't appreciate her rude response and I asked if she had an issue with me asking a reasonable question to ask a moving company. She started yelling and she said she had a problem with me asking the question after I had asked about about the cost. I have never written a review for Yelp and this is how rude and unprofessional this women was that I would write my first review. I asked to speak to the owner or supervisor, her response was I am the owner honey! I can't imagine that a professional moving company would behave in this manner. I just had a large move and the first thing the company discussed was how they had highly trained movers who were their employees and were bonded. First, they have NO affiliation with the military nor do they make any great effort to employ veterans - which they do state at the bottom of their website. I didn't end up booking through them as they apparently are afraid to come onto a military base. The person on the phone said they get hassled coming onto base because their logos make it appear they support the military even though their reason for choosing the name is because they consider themselves the "soldiers of moving". I wouldn't have bothered writing a review except they hung up on me when I was trying to clarify and ask a question. Also they replied via email to my request for a quote by asking if I was on base or not, and then never responded to my reply, and then hedged the first time I called them and then finally admitted they didn't want to come on base the second time I called. Fantastic movers! Here is my experience: Two men arrived 10 minutes before the appointed time, greeted me courteously, and introduced themselves as Victor and Daniel. They had me sign some paperwork and pay for the first two hours plus a fixed amount, all agreed upon beforehand. They toured the apartment and asked what was to be moved or not moved. They then proceeded to work extremely efficiently, almost running, but with great care, never banging any heavy cartons or furniture against walls or door frames, for the next SEVEN AND A HALF hours, with no lunch break, not even a water break. They were very strong and lifted heavy boxes and furniture effortlessly. They also wrapped furniture in plastic sheets to prevent damage. They remained polite, even smiling, through the exhausting day, never expressing frustration when some of the occupants stood in their way; or when I asked them what took them so long (they explained the elevator was not available at one point). These are exemplary workers. I communicated very well with them and they with me in English - they spoke Spanish to each other. The move occurred on Mon 28 Dec 2015 in Silver Spring, MD, and I settled the entire bill in cash at the end of the move with a tip but management should reward them also. read more

This is the absolute worst moving company out there. I confirmed with the receptionist that they would be able to handle larger quality pieces of furniture needing three strong men to complete my move. Three people showed up with one of them being a 15 year old child. One hour into the move, the older man informed me that one of the younger boys was already exhausted, as he is inexperienced with moving! The move was very slow with the two younger boys laughing and fooling around during the move. The older man argued with me as to why I hired their company if I have pieces if furniture that I don't want blemished. He informed me that there is NO insurance with this company! Moving Soldiers advertises "professional movers, no laborers". This is completely false advertising! I paid $630 for furniture to be moved 6 miles. There were 6 boxes that the kids and I helped load onto the truck. This move took over 6 hours! A glass cabinet was broken and and they failed to let me know. Unfortunately, I saw it after they already left. With competent, professional movers, this move would have taken half the time. The only furniture that was set up in the new place was a bookcase that required some assembly. I contacted the company and let them know that I was dissatisfied with their services and they completely ignored my voicemail and never called back. This company will be reported to the Better Business Bureau for false advertising. Stay away from Moving Soldiers! read more
