Completed a 3 bedroom townhome, intercounty move with AJ Moving in August 2018. Team of 3 arrived within the specified time, assessed all items & quickly got to work loading up our belongings. Protection of plastic shrink wrap, tape & blankets were used to ensure safe transport; in addition to floor covering. All items arrived & were safely placed in their new locations. Team was respectful of our requests, items, home; they worked hard & efficiently. Final payment was an exact match to provided estimate. Cash is preferred payment method, 3% processing fee for credit card. After this move was complete, I attempted to reach AJ Moving for a commercial move via online estimate. Though this process was easy & seamless the first time, I never received a response. So while I would recommend & use again, the ability to do so falls on their response. read more

Don't go by their truck they arrived slightly ahead of schedule they worked fast and efficiently made the job seem effortless assisted as needed when I was short a box. Family and I have used this company in the past. They're not bad. They used to be good and diligent. Giving this review for bad customer service. They moved my furniture (expensive sets) to a storage wrapped. I left them for 20 minutes came back to see the furniture unwrapped (a lot of stuff in there)!!! They never asked if I would like to keep the covers as I wouldn't mind paying for them. They have kept the covers for my folks and for me in the past. Ask your customers and make sure they know! I originally chose this company based on its 5 star reviews and unfortunately I got the opposite. I was given an estimate of 3 hours with 2 guys and a truck. I had everything boxed up and most boxes moved to the main level of the house to make it easier to pack the truck. The guys arrived as expected and one of the movers (Eddie) was exceptional - he was friendly, polite and an absolute workhorse. If it wasn't for him, you'd get no stars. However, the second mover hardly ever came in and remained on the truck until Eddie informed me that he had just disappeared. We were barely an hour into the move and one mover just vanished. I later found out he hadn't been feeling well and his wife picked him up and brought him to the hospital. While I do feel bad that he was ill, when is it acceptable to just disappear from a job without a word? The company got ahold of two additional movers who arrived 90 minutes later - my house was no where near being packed up and we were getting past the three hour mark. The new guys did an ok job of moving the rest of my stuff, however when they took the bed apart they left the majority of the hardware on the floor which I had to retrieve for them. Once we were at the new place, I gave directions that all boxes marked with a bedroom sticker went upstairs while the rest could remain down (it was a hot/humid day and I felt bad for them). As we were nearing the end, the two newer guys were struggling putting the bed back together. Little did I know until I went to bed that night, that the bed was broken. I also found a huge gash in the wall that must have happened when the were carrying a piece of furniture, however not a word was mentioned. They also brought only two boxes upstairs and I am still sorting through and carrying the rest up myself. I wish I could say this was the worst of it but it's not. As I got ready to pay, I asked to speak with a manager because of the mover who disappeared. Not only was it unprofessional but it also cost me a lot of time. Well the manager could not have been ruder. Told me that it wasn't their fault the guy left AND they were now charging me for three guys since they sent two to replace the disappearer. Of course the manager claimed to have given me some kind of discount, however without an itemized receipt, how does one even know? On top of that, I was never told that there was a surcharge for using a credit card (guess you guys figure it's harder to fight a check than a credit card, huh?) I am greatly disappointed in this company and hope that my review may help prevent someone else from experiencing what I had to endure. Called around for a quote on a last minute move and got either very pricey quotes or no availability. While searching around on yelp I stumbled upon AJ and told them my situation. They quoted me a decent price and had availability for the day I had planned. I was a little skeptical because of how good the price actually was... I was definitely proven wrong. They arrived 20 mins. early and got the job done quicker than I thought. The movers were also very friendly and knew what they were doing. They put blankets on everything which made me very happy! Had a move from Manassas to The Plains, with a stop at a storage facility in Herndon, planned for a Sunday. The Friday immediately before moving day, all of my friends who had agreed to help backed out. In a panic, I started messaging various moving companies in the area. Within a few moments, I'd received a response from AJ's owner, Mike. He answered all of my questions throughout various emails quickly & professionally. I called late on Friday (nearly 9pm) & was able to arrange everything in just a few minutes. Flash forward to moving day. The team of 3 guys were originally supposed to be out between 2-4pm, but finished their previous job early, & were able to meet me at 1pm. They emptied the storage shed in no time & moved on to the apartment in Manassas. In hardly any time at all they'd gotten the apartment cleared out & headed to the final destination. Once at the house, they moved everything off the truck & into the house quickly & carefully. I'm not sure they ever stopped to catch their breath! If you want your belongings moved quickly & with care, this is the company for you. This was my first experience with hired movers & I'm sold. I highly recommend this company for their professionalism and excellent execution. I recently had to move in a very short amount of time. I did not understand the exact requirements or scope of the job I required, but AJs Moving sent a team out and despite the large project, they made certain to finish it to completion...which required late hours into the night the second day. Despite the unforseen extant of the work, the team pushed through and made good on the promise to get me moved. They also maintained a professional attitude and kept my things protected - there were no cut corners. Highly recommend...make sure if you are not clear on what you need help with to communicate with the boss and ask questions to get an accurate assessment and make sure things are smooth. Wow! I understand my initial review would garner a response but a pack of lies from the owner? I didn't expect that. Or maybe I should. My review couldn't be good for business but that's what Yelp is for. To provide feedback to the public on YOUR experience with a business or service. I'm a war veteran, public servant, and a respected member of the community. I have absolutely no reason to lie about my experience and in this case, it's the absolute truth. I'll respond to your rebuttal by paragraph. 1. An in-home estimate was never offered to me. I was advised to use the moving estimator by one of your reps because they didn't have personnel available to provide an in-home estimates at that time. So that's what I did. 2. I concur, my previous residence was a 2 bedroom apartment. Fully-furnished? NO! You're lying about my estimate. Why would I tell you I "only" had a dining room set to move, when you've already acknowledged your people came (1.5 hours late) to begin my scheduled move with two guys...only to move a dining room set in a 17' truck? The second bedroom was an office with a chair, desk, a couple of empty bookcases, boxes I packed, and a collapsed treadmill. As for the small, round, dining table that sits four people, what difference does it make if the tabletop is glass? It's a simple task to wrap it in a cloth cover and be on your way. I won't even rebuff the rest of this dribble in paragraph two. You contradict yourself during the entire paragraph. 3. I was not advised about trucks being weighed or whatever. So, I'll just have to take your word for it. 4. Another blatant lie. I left before your men had broken down my bed to buy them lunch and water and to get more cash to pay your reps at the end of the move, as directed. By the time I got back, the bed was fully disassembled and on the damn truck. None of your men advised me and never showed me pics of my broken bed boxspring. That is a lie! If your man provided me proof of the broken bed, ask him to provide me a copy of this/these pictures because I never saw it/them. Hell, you have the capability to provide the picture in this forum. Why didn't you? 5. I said...I labeled 90% of my boxes and instructed your men to put the unlabeled boxes in the living room, which for the most part they did. Thank God nothing happened to the rest of my boxed items during the move. If I'd been notified prior to the move, that you wouldn't cover items I packaged in boxes because of your insurance stipulation, I would have been screwed if there was a mishap. Since I personally boxed upwards of (according to you) 150 boxes, I would have to be a complete idiot to box all my stuff knowing it wouldn't be insured during the transit. It's simple. I wasn't informed about that stipulation. Period. 6. Your rep told me over the phone that this was a cash move prior to the move. Your rep asked me at the end of the transaction, how I would like to pay for the move. Your own manifest has a box at the bottom for inputting credit card information. No one informed me specifically that LONG DISTANCE moves are cash only! The time it takes for your business to pack and move a truck is literally irrelevant to me. This is part of YOUR business model. You estimate, I pay. Get it together. 7. I had to ask your rep to reassemble my bed as they were heading to the trucks after receiving my tip, once the last item was placed. Your rep, said we will take care of it. Four men were called back from the truck, they went up to my bedroom to assemble and set my bed in place. Afterwards, no one mentioned a walkthrough, no one mentioned a broken bed, they did a cleanup outside my residence, and left. That's exactly what happened. My experience with your company for this move was not all terrible. I believe I mentioned that previously. These guys worked their butts off in July heat to complete my move successfully. They were courteous and respectful and so was I. The issue here is a few things went wrong with MY move. If I don't advise you (and a public) about what went wrong with my move, then you can't fix it, and the public won't be deceived by a bunch of positive remarks. This is the cost of doing business. I can't give you a 4 or 5 star rating when my $1800.00 bed is broken and no one told me AND I'm still carrying LABELED boxes up and down stairs after the move is complete. Now that your rebuttal includes these lies, I would never give you a higher rating or my recommendation because this means I can't trust you or your company. My recommendation for you simple. Work on your customer interaction and move preparation package BEFORE the move. Set up a walkthrough prior to move execution. If you don't have the staff to do it, contract a service. read more

Great service. Available on last notice. We called them within three hours of when we needed them, on the day after Thanksgiving. My s.o. and I were exhausted from loading and unloading both our apartments into our single apt home. We had four major heavy times left in our Uhaul truck, including a mechanical queen size box spring ... That weighs what feels like an entire truck. Anywho, long story short, two men arrived and unloaded the items as well as reassembled all of our items in our new home. All in under 1.5hrs!!! Exceptional work. read more

This company is terrible do not use them. I hired them to move a pool table as a surprise early Christmas gift for my husband. They moved it and it looked ok- so I signed off on it. Then that night my husband found that the pool cups had been installed incorrectly. I called the company multiple times requesting them to come fix it as they advertise 100% satisfaction guarantee- the owner was a complete jerk on the phone, not will to help unless I paid them again. The 4 men team who moved us was helpful, responsive and soooooo hard working and did above and beyond what we expected. I can't say enough good things about these guys. My contact on the phone and email was responsive and very professional. On the day of the move they showed up a little earlier than expected which was fine with me because it's better to show up early then late and they came in, introduced themselves, did the walk through and after that all you see was straight work! When i first called AJ Moving the owner seemed very polite and reassuring that my family's belongings would be taken care of and that everything would go as planned but that clearly did not happen. To begin, they showed up an hour late as planned and began working, which for me was not a problem, until I was told that the job would be longer than expected because one of their movers did not show up which meant i had to stay and tell my family I would run late. I believe that it should not be at the customers expense, because it was not my fault their employee failed to do their job, also the movers took so many cigarette breaks I was confused why i payed them to sit on their butts for so long. Great team of movers (4 guys and a truck). It took longer than expected (my fault - I didn't estimate the amount to be moved correctly). They started at 8:30 and finished at about 12:30 am! I have been in the military for over 20 years and I had my share of moves during those times, but all cannot beat the service that I have received from AJ moving and delivery. Their office called 10 minutes before the end time for them to arrive (between 8-10am) to tell me they 'should' be there in 30 minutes. They arrived an hour and 15 minutes later. They deliberately took their time in order to increase the expense. I had a 2 bedroom and just to load the truck took them 4.5 hours. All of my items were boxed, located together, on the first floor and ready to move so there was no reason for the lengthy time. They stacked boxes on top of boxes that were labeled fragile/do no stack boxes on top. Without my knowledge they placed my wood desk right side up with nothing underneath yet heavy boxes on top, which caused the desk to collapse - it was demolished - and caused half of my boxes to fall forward and get crushed. Every piece of furniture had damage except the bedroom furniture. I went to the bank and when I came back I found their 2 movers in the dining room relaxing and viewing their phones. The cleaning crew I hired, which were there at the same time, told me that the movers were "definitely taking their time." They had worked with many movers before and knew the pace with which good/reputable movers work. Moreover, I moved to a different state and the movers (not AJ Movers) commented that the loaders were inexperienced and had packed the truck poorly. read more
