If I could give this business a zero, I gladly would! We've had cross country moves that were smoother and more professional than this short distance move. My husband and I decided to hire this crew based on their Yelp reviews and what a total disaster it was. Avoid like the plague!!!! If you're looking for affordable movers, AKA UNPROFESSIONAL and CHEAP, then by all means go for it. Truthfully, I don't even know where to begin. - First off, what crew shows up to move you during COVID-19 WITHOUT A MASK?!? I'm sorry, but that is UNACCEPTABLE! That should have been the first warning sign. - We were promised a crew of 4, yet only 3 showed up. Myra the office manager is a terrible communicator and never reached out to confirm times, as this was supposed to be a multi-day move. We had to continuously be the ones to reach out and confirm appointment times. Frustratingly, she had a different story to tell than the crew manager who was on site. Conflicting messages were shared all across. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL! - 75% of crew was highly unprofessional and uninterested in working. Literally, every request we had (by the way, nothing out of the ordinary, we've moved quite a bit and know a thing or two about moving protocol, like putting down runners to protect the flooring - duh!) from small to large, was a no. Yet another red flag. They even had the decency to make snarky remarks. The team lead even threatened me at one point that he was going to "walk out and not finish the job" after I voiced my concerns. Talk about disrespectful, you're not talking to your friend here, pal. I'm sorry - I'm the customer here, and customer service and politeness used to mean something once upon a time. Oh wait, it still does with professional companies! - They had stated that the mattresses would be covered and protected during transport, NOT the case. Our mattress arrived filthy and unprotected. - The icing on the cake was when the crew never showed up on the 3rd day, at the agreed upon time. We called the office number, no luck. No emergency contact was provided. We called the previous crew and were rudely hung up on. No explanation. No call until FOUR HOURS later. Mind you, most of the big furniture pieces were still left unpacked and unmoved. Desperate to get out on time, we hired another company to finish the job and thank god we did because not in a million years would I want to deal with this business in any capacity again! Please find yourself a moving company who is willing and eager to go above and beyond to make an already stressful situation somewhat bearable with courtesy and respect. Edited to add response to business owner: with all due respect, it speaks volumes that you are blaming everything on the customer and have not once apologized for the conduct of your extremely UNPROFESSIONAL CREW or your shortcomings. The movers themselves do a wonderful job, however, if Mayra or whoever screws up the billing, your liable and she is extremely rude after the fact. Our quote said 2 movers, they showed up with 3. The numbers on what they showed us on site was for 2 but their "swiper was broken." Things happen. Whatever. We tipped fat as common courtesy and etiquette because the guys were awesome. Didn't think much of it during the move because it was all kosher plus I'm dealing with the stress of the move itself. On our credit card, we got charged incorrectly and waaaayyy over the quote and what we signed for when the guys completed the job. We called Mayra and she was unprofessional and disrespectful. "Not our problem, 3 movers arrived and thats what your paying for." Fact of the matter is, we didn't ask for 3 and 3 showed up. Was there an option for the 3rd guy to just sit and watch? Did we sign paperwork agreeing to 3 movers which we didn't need? Answer is no. Take this review for what it is. Other negative reviews revolve around billing issues as well. Be very careful. When we disputed the difference, not the full charge, because that is not right, a magical document with scribble appeared showing we agreed to three movers. read more

The absolute worst move in our experience. Myra did not keep us informed on timing or what to expect. Crew was disrespectful, unorganized and filthy. They even stated that the move will be done in one truckload. Turns out they couldn't even get 1/2 of what we have done in a day. For day 2, they didn't call, show up and when you call the office no one picks up! We are sitting around and waiting with no clue on who will show up and when. Our lease has expired and we now have to pay double rent for not moving out in time. Further, we need to find an alternate moving company on a Saturday. Neri, in the office, is extremely helpful and responds to all correspondence promptly. On the day of the move, they gave me an arrival window, were within that time and called to give me 30 minutes notice they were on the way. Even offer a discount for return customers. They were organized and efficient, wrapping/taking apart/putting together whatever was needed. It wasn't an uncomplicated move since we were coming from two apartments combining into one. Perhaps opting for this discount moving service was not the best choice. Scheduled to arrive between 11:30am-1:30pm, not only did I take off work for the afternoon, but reserved the cargo elevator at new place based on this ETA. After leaving work and waiting around, I called the office at 1:45 stating I hadn't heard from anyone yet and my window had come and gone already.  Finally got a call at 2:00 stating they were running late (no kidding), and would arrive around 3:00pm and would let me know when they were 20 minutes out. Knowing I had yet another hour to spare, I went to grab lunch only to get a call 15 minutes later wondering where I was because they were in front of my apartment.    Movers did a good job of loading up truck. Thankfully we had everything packed and organized and they were able to just grab and load; only took about 1 hour to fill the truck. However, upon leaving the apartment complex, the driver took an exit with a steep hill. While sitting behind them in my car, I heard nothing but my belongings falling all over the truck as they went up the hill. It made a ridiculously loud boom as the freight was clearly not properly secured. Upon arrival to new apartment, they opened the doors to find out a cement statue I've owned for years was not secured at all, and slammed into my washer/dryer set. Not only was the statue shattered, but the dryer now has a large, very noticeable, dent in the front. Burying my frustration with that, we began unloading into the new apartment. Everyone helped the movers to make their job as easy as possible. Upon finishing, we're attempting to settle up and apparently went 6 minutes over the expected 3 hours. This 6 minutes could've came from them taking a break while we were moving, them taking a different route than we did to the new apt, etc... However, these 6 minutes were now rounded to the next full half hour. They would not budge whatsoever. While they were late and wasted my time, I have to pay for 6 minute overage which could be because of stall-tactics along the way. After a discussion about what an absolute scam that was, I asked where my broken statue was. The movers took it upon themselves to toss it in the trash compactor, damaging it even more beyond repair. When questioning about the statue, why they threw it away, and the dented dryer -- the only response I got was to call corporate. Once calling corporate, they were absurdly unhelpful with both the 6 minute overage and the damaged goods. They offered to provide me with $20.00. I will never use this company again. And if you value your possessions or money, you shouldn't either. read more

They did an OK job, not great. They didn't volunteer to disassemble or assemble anything that they were not directed to do specifically. They would not pick up anything they considered "loose". This meant a few items because the cord was not wrapped up. Finally, at the end it turned out to be 3:35 total time, so the guy told me they were done, and I was ready to pay. Then, he proceeded to tell me they "round up" to the next 30 minutes. Turns out, they hadn't assembled our bed, nor did they assemble the crib. I asked them to fill the remaining time, but it seemed like they were trying to pull a fast one and get an extra $55 for 5 minutes work. We have 3 men move us, one spoke English and the other two did not. they were not very delicate on our furniture and boxes as well as our walls. I watch them bang into our walls repeated with the same furniture as well as damage two pieces of furniture and did not report it. I reported the incident and they claimed it would take 30 days to be resolved. After repeated contacting them on the result of claim, it has gone unanswered. So much for them saying it would be resolved by April 30. I would not use this company as they are not honest or respond in a timely manner. I also think it is very odd that they only accept cash or money orders, not even checks. read more

My husband and I needed someone to come move the big stuff for us. It wasn't a far move, but we didn't want to worry about the equipment and transport of the fridge, washer, dryer and tv. The only reason I hesitate to give them 5 stars is because I kind of want to keep them to myself. But, their hard work deserves a good reputation so I'll do it anyway :P To summarize: Despite the fact that their prices are about half of many other movers, MJ Moving consistently provides high quality, efficient, careful moving services. I am about to use them for my third move! My roommate and I used MJ Moving last summer to move our 2/2 from a second-story condo in south Austin to a third-floor apartment in north Austin. We seriously underestimated how much stuff we had, and the move took a couple of hours longer than we anticipated. We had requested two guys and one truck, but when it started to take longer than anticipated, they sent out another guy at no extra charge. They were very professional and very efficient--the delay was definitely not their fault, but rather our apparent hoarding tendencies (which we had kept hidden in our closets). My boyfriend then hired two guys from MJ Moving for a somewhat complicated move (out of one apartment, into another, grab some items at a house down south, move to storage). Again, they were much less expensive than all of the other guys and moved some *very* valuable, large items without any damage. This somewhat complicated move took only 3 hours, across town and with four destinations. Now, I'm using MJ Moving to move into my new apartment next week. As a returner, I'm only paying $65/hour, which is less than half of what Two Men and a Truck charge. (They quoted us at $120/hour plus a $75 travel fee.) I could not recommend MJ Moving more highly. read more

This is our second move using this company. They are hands down everything you want in a moving company. Their crews are on time, courteous, and this last one is vain, they have a professional appearance. The moment they arrive they introduce themselves, do a walk through of your home, and immediately get started. We had almost an entire room of things we plan to donate after moving and didn't want moved into our new home. We arrived at our new home with only the things we needed and none of our soon to be donated items. For roughly the same price as renting a moving truck all day, just give them your money and spare yourself the sweat and frustration. If we ever have to move, which I pray we won't since we just bought a house, would definitely use them next time. They said they would come between 8.30-9.30 am. They came at 8.38 am. Awesome! They loaded quickly. I thought we could do two hours but realized that was wishful thinking. Not because they were slow but because I expected wonders. They needed 3.5 hours (3 people for a 2 bedroom apartment, third floor) and that was very reasonable. I was there the whole time so I know that they were working hard. When we got to the new apartment I was doing my walk through to note existing damages. One of the movers pointed out things that were broken or damaged. A few of the things he pointed out I missed. Awesome! There were a few promotions going at that time. When we were done, they picked the promotion that was the cheapest for me. The promotion I got was actually different from the one I originally picked, due to the increase time it took. They don't move open boxes in their truck (company policy). However, if you have your own truck, they are happy to put the boxes in your truck for you.Awesome! Like night and day in comparison to my experience with Heart of Texas. These guys showed up on a 100 degree day and got right to work! They were finished in 3.5 hours which was equal to what I paid on my previous move. However, these guys drove about 25 miles further to the destination and also made at 3rd stop at my storage unit. So, point being, they were MUCH MUCH FASTER! Also, they had the diligence to properly wrap and protect my belongings before moving them. I would highly recommend using Moving Squad - especially if you're choosing between them and Heart of Texas. read more

I found MJ Moves through a website called Thumbtack, where you request quotes from different companies. I had never heard of them before. Anyway, Movers showed up ahead of when they said they'd arrive. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 story townhouse in an apartment complex that has a lot of stairs to get from the parking lot to the townhouse. The guys worked quickly and effectively. Nothing was damaged or missing. The guys were great! Would highly recommend to all my friends who might be moving any time soon! Cost for a team of 2 movers is$75 an hour. Team of 3 movers is $90 per hour. There are no hidden charges or extra charges for insurance, stairs, etc. (things other movers charge you for). Must pay in Cash or Money order when they are done!! Keep that in mind! read more

WOW! I called around several places and the prices I was given for the other places was crazy compared with MJ's Moving. I believe I spoke with Neri when I booked my spot, she was very informative and went through all the details! She didn't try to over sell me when I thought I might need an extra person and said that I would be okay with 2 movers. The contract was emailed and signed, it was simple as that. I ran into an issue with my apartment not being ready and didn't find out until the last minute. I emailed the company because it was Sunday and they were closed. I STILL got a response! They offered me other time options, but I ended up staying with the original plan. The day came, they showed up on time, actually earlier than I thought. Both guys were awesome, friendly, very polite and professional. I signed the paper and in seconds they were flying out the door with my stuff. I must say it was impressive seeing how fast they moved and how quick they were. With my luck it started pouring rain, but that didn't stop them. They took all my stuff from the 2nd floor apartment to the first floor and waited for the rain to let up a bit while they were doing that, they didn't stop for a second. Once we got to the new apartment the complex was installing new flooring! They movers still managed to get my stuff in places so they could finish the floor. The guys finished moving all my stuff, in the rain, to an apartment while it was being floored and still finished it in just under two hours! I used Moving Squad once before and was impressed with the movers, however their overall service is TERRIBLE. Good luck getting an answer when you call or a response when you send an email. I've been trying to schedule my move with them for 3-4 days and not once has anyone answered the phone or bothered to respond to the email I sent. My in-laws used this moving service on a Friday moving from a storage unit to a 3 bedroom single story house. They meet at 10am at the storage unit and only 1 worker shows up. For the amount of furniture they had, it seems they should have at least 2-3 people show up for this task. The one worker was very good but it is unfortunate he was working alone. For a company who charges by the hour, this is unacceptable. The company was called and told they need more helpers, they sent out 1 other worker to meet him at the house. Upon arrival later that night, the 2 workers unloaded the truck but did not have enough time in the day to finish all of their things. So they had to come back the next day to finish. Originally at 3pm, it ended up being 6pm. 2 workers, by the time 8pm rolled around they moved in everything but did not assemble anything. My poor in-laws had to sleep on the floor as they are elderly and cannot out their beds together. We spent hours the next day coming over to assemble all of their furniture. The worst thing is they were charged extra for the few hours the next day! What a nightmare. The workers were great but the owners of this company should be ashamed of themselves. Logistically incompetent. We will never use them again and will tell others not to use them. read more

We have used them twice in the last 3 years. On both occasions we have been very satisfied with their service. We did not use the packing services and packed all boxes ourselves. They will not move plants or other loose items unless they are packed in boxes, which is probably the same for all movers. They don't charge extra for assembly and disassembly of furniture. They work on flat hourly rate and charge in convenient intervals of half hour after the first 2 hours. They were clean, efficient, friendly, quick and professional. Simply fantastic. We hired Moving Squad to load our 3-bedroom apartment into our moving truck because we have physical injuries that make hauling all that down a flight of stairs impossible. Turned out we underestimated how much crap we own and had 1.5 trucks worth of stuff to move to storage, but our two movers were like Tetris champions and even exceeded their own expectations. Everything was treated with care and stably stacked for us to transport and unload ourselves. They graciously stayed an extra 30 mins to haul the rest of our items from our 2nd floor to our garage even though they had another move after us and time was tight, and the rate for extra time is very reasonable. They even hauled things other companies have refused to touch (potted plants, a digital piano [not a keyboard, a real upright digital piano], some items that were not in boxes such as curtain rods). They were quite thoughtful in choosing which items to load into the truck first, consulted us on things we might want to keep out of the truck or keep upstairs, and were so friendly and accommodating. When we realized that we had underestimated how much stuff we had, one if them even tried to see if he could come back the next day and help on his day off before his family party! Unfortunately our schedules wouldn't permit it, but I was blown away that he was willing to even offer it. The two men really did everything they could to make this the best experience, and they succeeded. If all their movers are this awesome, I will never use another moving company in Austin again! read more

Great moving company! They were friendly from the time I reached out to them to receive a quote to the moment they were done with the move. Here are just a few of the things that stood out to me during my experience with Einstein Moving Company: 1. When I reached out to receive a quote they were very friendly and to the point. I didn't feel like I was being misguided in any way. 2. Their confirmation email was awesome! Left no doubts in my mind as to how my move was going to be coordinated. 3. Used Moving Squad for a move at the end of 2016, and the movers were very efficient and got us moved out of one apartment into a house in under 3 hours. Of course, it helped that we had everything pre-boxed and organized and had read the directions on their website as to how they preferred items to be prepared for the move. We did help move some of the lighter items, and the movers were very receptive to direction and communicated well with us. The gal who handled the scheduling and paperwork over the phone/email was very helpful and she even worked out a deal with me on a promotion. Very happy - will use again! read more

Myra is on the administrative staff and she is so helpful - I inquired about a Groupon special and she told me the details of it; she also said that they had another special, and depending on the amount of time it took us to move, she'd make sure we got the best deal. Our move was from a second floor apartment to a duplex, about a mile away. The movers got there on time, and were very respectful and accommodating. They loaded all of our stuff, drove to the new place, and unloaded everything within 2 hours!!!!! ADDED PLUS: the guys accidentally knocked off an broke an outside light fixture; when I called and notified Myra she told me to send her a picture and she'd either reimburse me for the broken fixture or credit our move. I just wanted to say how pleased I am with MJ Moving. In a crowd of shady, overpriced moving companies, MJ is the true exception. Great price, great service, got the job done in less time than expected, took care of our stuff, so nice to my wife and friends, and made my life so much easier. WELL worth the money. Customer service is such a thing of the past and this company absolutely proves that. I did an online quote, liked the price and set a date. The online rep says you have to get this info to us - call me or email me with the info and we will get you booked. I was scheduled for yesterday - still not moved. Why? Because I've been calling to respond and confirm my date for over a week, leaving voicemails - NO RETURN CALL WHATSOEVER!! Called again this morning. NO RETURN CALL. So now? They are booked up to July and I have no movers. I would NEVER recommend this place as the basic customer service of returning a call doesnt even exist! Do NOT hire this company. If you have a problem with property damage, the office will be condescending and dismissive instead of apologetic and helpful when they DO reply, and then they'll never get back to you or reimburse you. The only reason I'm leaving two stars is that one of the three guys in the moving crew was awesome. He was fast, efficient, didn't stop working until the job was done, and kept the other two going. Everything else about the experience, including the office staff, was terrible. One of the other three movers was a complete disaster. He was incredibly slow, had to be told by the guy in charge to keep working over and over, damaged my floor (think big chips, not small scratches) and constantly put things in the wrong place. For example, when I said, "please put that in my bedroom" he'd say , "right...the kitchen?" I thought the third guy was fine until they left and I realized almost everything he'd put in the house was backwards. One of my couches, my serving bar, and a few other random items were backwards, and the glass in my china cabinet was installed upside down AND backwards. He also started unpacking my tv, even though I hadn't asked, and said he couldn't find the screws. I told him they were taped to the back, which they were, but he said they weren't there. I asked him to put it back in the box, but he left it balancing on the small plastic neck that attaches to the base. I'm just glad it didn't snap from the weight of my tv or topple over before I found it. I later contacted the office about the floor damage, and got a snippy, condescending reply that said the claims department would get back to me. I emailed twice, and it's been three weeks since my move, and they still haven't bothered to respond. I've found a few other damaged items since then... Glass shattered on an art piece, chips and scratches on furniture, but nothing as major as the floor. Apparently I'm on my own for the cost of repairs. If all their movers were like the guy in charge, I would hire them again, despite the terrible customer service from the office, but sadly, two incompetent movers and a refusal to respond to property damage seems to be what I'll remember this company for. read more

I used Moving Squad quite awhile ago, in March actually, and am reviewing now because I was reviewing another company and remembered my experience here. The actual moving experience was great. They were quick, and the movers were courteous. The issue I had was due to their way of scamming people into paying for extra time. This rubbed me the wrong way so much that I had to leave only two stars. I don't remember the exact scheduled times, but I believe they were supposed to arrive between 9 am and 11 am. I was at my mom's house, helping with a garage sale, as they told me they would call me when they were en route. My mom lives 5 minutes from where I was moving from. At 10:45 am I called to see when they would be there as I had not yet received a call. They told me they have been at the residence for twenty minutes wondering where I was and that they started their time clock upon arrival. In disbelief, I told them I had not received any calls from and had no voicemails or anything on my phone. The mover told me he called, and that he left a voicemail, and that the time is still running. Frustrated, I hung up and drove up as fast as I could. Had I not had to have been out of my old place that day, I would have cancelled their service and gone with another service. As soon as I arrived and opened everything up, they got straight to work, and honestly did a fantastic job. But I was so frustrated that they charged me for that extra half hour of service that I was not happy with my overall experience. Staff was on time, helpful, and friendly. They were extremely careful with our belongings. They got our duplex down south moved into a duplex north in 2 hours. For the price of a UHAUL they moved our place in a 1/4 of the time without a sore back. I will definitely call them when we move again. Highly recommend. read more
