This company ignores no soliciting signs. My doorbell itself is a no soliciting sign but they still rang it. Very disrespectful of peoples privacy. We have a disabled child at home who is frequently in a great deal of pain and has a difficult time sleeping. I broke one of my rules. When someone comes to my door, I almost never answer it. I don't often spend a lot of time outdoors, but this summer I've been adding some plantings to my new xeriscape, and up came a salesperson whom I couldn't avoid. He was from Moxie Pest Control. Now, Do we have pests? Yes. Do we have a Pest service? Yes. Is it expensive? Yes. Have I meant to comparison shop, but not yet gotten around to it? Yes. Moxie quoted me a price for quarterly service that was about 1/2 what I was paying, so I thought I would give them a try. They require a 15-visit contract, but things have been going pretty well around my house with the pests this summer, so I decided to see if the cheaper service would keep things at bay. As my "maybe" recommendation for Moxie indicates, I have not had this service long enough to not recommend them, but I have had some prickles on the back of my neck so far. 1. Their first service is meant to bring out the pests that I find most troubling at my house (for me, these are grasshoppers, spiders, mice, and wasps). Apparently, the service brings them out so that the next service can eradicate them. Well, I didn't quite understand this--OK, maybe my fault. But I'm in the middle of my yard planting new plants in a sea of munching grasshoppers, so I don't think it's hard to figure out that I need something done NOW (and I said as much, too). So far, my old service traps have now caught a mouse--we haven't had mouse problems in a decade. And rats are running around. Wasps have entered my house, and grasshoppers have completely destroyed at least 6 new plants that I bought and planted myself, not to mention the ones put in by my landscaper. 2. I received a text from Moxie wanting to schedule my "free" termite inspection. This occurred yesterday. The person who came by to do the inspection was very nice, knew his stuff, and proceeded to do the high-pressure sales thing in my living room where he explains why I need to spend thousands of dollars on a preventative bait system and $500 per year for termite inspections of this bait system. While I don't think I was told anything untrue, I actively avoid these high-pressure, "sign here now" situations, and I told him as much. In his pitch to me, he never mentioned that Moxie will do a free termite inspection every year as part of my paid quarterly service, nor that I have a pile of firewood next to my house that i should consider moving so as not to attract termites into my home. 3. To be fair, when the inspector came yesterday, he asked how my service was going. When I complained about the pests I had seen, he explained the situation as I explained it above, and had someone call me immediately to set up a follow-on service to take care of it. The whole situation has left me wondering if I would be better off with the very expensive but highly rated and proven effective service I've had for 25-30 years. Thinking... You get what you pay for, at least sometimes. read more

The team of Antonio, Trey and Job performed the steps of setup, removal of existing contaminated insulation, sanitizing, blown in of 15" of insulation and clean up of our affected areas, that results in a clean R49 insulation value were tireless and professional. Based on the inspection showing mice infestations, R values being 10 to 15 with old school batted fiberglass, I already feel we are in a healthier and more secure attic, and that gives me peace of mind. This company sucks ! They give you a high pressure sales pitch and then you are locked into a one year contract with automatic payments made from your credit card. They come out 4x a year at their convenience whether you're home or not and do a basic pest treatment. Extra calls cost extra unless it's within 2 weeks of their coming out. Almost impossible to cancel service and took multiple calls to quit. I never did get rid of the mice or the wasps. read more

They send pushy sales people to your door over and over again. Even after you tell them you're not interested. It got to the point where I said if i listen to your sales pitch will you leave me alone?! Guy claimed that "all of my neighbors use his services." Definitely not true and my neighbors also told him to get lost. Again for hours this kid that definitely doesn't know anything about pest control hovered in my neighborhood soliciting anyone that came within 20 yards of him. If your service was that great and your products were that reputable, you wouldn't need to send door to door sales. read more

Moxie has made numerous attempts to mitigate mice and insects, but has been unsuccessful. I still have to lay down my own traps and they can't figure out how mice get in the house. I get it's tough to completely eliminate these pests, especially since we live out "in the country" on 5 acre lots. Despite their inability to control these pests, I'm being forced to ride out the remainder of my contract so I must continue to pay for a service that doesn't work. Not sure how they think this is fair when they are not living up to their end of the bargain. Buyer beware! read more

This is the most expensive contract that I can imagine. They charge $139 per service for just the outside of the house! I can't even imagine what the charge would be for the inside too, $500 maybe? Who knows. It's whatever they think they can get away with, you can be sure of that. I feel like I was swindled. And the service contract will continue even though I don't want it after the last service on this contract. They just automatically roll it over into another contract whether I want that or not. Rather than stopping the contract and asking if I want to continue, they roll it over and I have to call them to cancel it even though the contract should by all rights end after the final service. Do not under any circumstances hire this company unless you want to be paying for service that you don't want. read more

At first everything was great. Bugs literally died en route to my house. I saw dead bugs all over the patio. Nothing was inside either. Overtime customer service declined but the number of bugs seen inside my house increased. After this last "quarterly spray" I have seen more bugs- especially spiders inside my house than before we ever started getting sprayed. We also had a wasp nests that they 'took' care of- got rid of and sprayed. But didn't knock down all the nest. Didn't think I had to supervise their work. I had read reviews like this before we started- but decided to give them a try. Started out great and then declined. Not worth it. We are canceling and will figure out how to do better ourselves and cheaper. read more

They replaced my insulation in my attic. ​They were very inconsistent on the techs they sent out. Only one laid plastic down, ​another one left a cigarette butt (not sure if they smoked in my garage or not). And they didn't do a good job cleaning up before they left. They just blew out the garage​ also creating a mess instead of sweeping ​​it out and containing the mess. So I had to sweep it off my driveway and clean up after them. ​ read more
