Being a sucker for karaoke, I sought out this place for a Sunday night karaoke session last time I was in Denver. It's a basic dive bar --domestic drafts, well drinks, and cheap wine. The bartender that night was absolutely great. The karaoke DJ (Sexy Jesus Karaoke) was friendly and fair, keeping repeat singers in the queue while adding in new singers as they arrived. Our group had a fantastic time and got to sing several times. The crowd was eclectic, supportive, and full of good singers. The one thing none of our group appreciated was that the front windows were wide open and people smoked outside the entire night. They literally had ashtrays on the windowsill. We all reeked of smoke by the end of the night. Kind of a bummer, and something to consider if you're thinking of going here when it's warm enough to have the windows open. read more

Walked in to Mozart's and immediately felt welcomed. Our bartender was super friendly and service was fast. It was obvious that this is a place with a lot of regulars since she called many by name. If you check in with Yelp, you get a free pickle shot. She mentioned theirs were the best in town. I've had many a pickle shot and she was 100% correct. It was the right blend of pickle and vodka and you can add your preferred level of spice. Highly recommend trying one. There are a few nods to Mozart around the bar. The music playing was great and we were told it was the owner's choice on Touch Tunes. We didn't know he was sitting at the bar having a drink until he walked out to go home and thanked every client personally for coming in. Rock me Amadeus! I will be returning. read more

OMG, this is a fabulous neighborhood bar. Took Uber from our hotel and it does not disappoint. Thursday karaoke is awesome. Run by a chick. Sound system very good. Full bar, TVs for sports watching. Only one bartender, but he was keeping up no problem. Seems to be mostly regulars in attendance, but they were friendly to us. Bottles domestics $4.50, Jack and Coke $7. Not so bad. I've driven past this place a gazillion times but never had the opportunity to visit. A group of friends needed a night out for karaoke and we hit the freakin jackpot. We had SO MUCH FUN at Mozart's with "Sexy Jesus" as DJ. The regular crowd was very welcoming and didn't think we totally sucked when we took over the mic for some Lizzo and Bon Jovi (god we were embarrassing...) Definitely plan to visit again and maybe even become a regular myself. read more

Unexpected cool dive bar! It's kind of a dive bar, but kind of not. Place is pretty well kept and clean.. no interesting suspicious looking folks to be a true dive bar lol.. Dive bars are in.. because hipsters love old stuff - not run of the mill fancy bars.. true hipsters anyway. lol... Came here on a Sunday evening with the hubs to grab a few drinks and it was a tad pricey for a "dive" bar than expected. It was our fault not asking what was offered during happy hour.. our bad. Anyway, I ordered the Moscow Mule and it was delicious. Sundays at 6pm they have a live Jazz band playing at the bar and it was super chill. I'd come back - super chill vibe on a Sunday. read more

I love a good dive bar for all the wrong reasons - cheap pours, sticky floors and music so bad it's good. Mozart's is kinda sorta divey, kinda sorta not. One would expect a bit more kitsch, given the sign out front and the name. But when you walk inside it's just a bar. There's some laser lights and Wi-Fi jukebox. Plus darts and a pool table. No piano or mannequins in powdered wigs like I'd hoped. Drinks are stiff and cheap! A "regular" cranberry vodka comes in a pint glass and costs about $5-6. There's local beers on tap as well, seeing that it's Colorado and all. The bartender was very nice and made the random experience a little less weird. But overall I'd say that Mozart's was a bit of a letdown, given all the other great bars on Colfax like PS Lounge and Lost Lake. read more

A group of us, all in our 40's, professionals and parents, were looking for a good Saturday night dive and this place came up in our discussion. We decided to give it a try as it was recently bought and reinvigorated. Now we regret it. The place was clean, but quite empty for a Saturday night... a small handful of regulars were posted at the bar and we had the rest of the very open layout to ourselves. We got a single round of drinks, and sat at a table in the back, waiting for the single dart board to open. When it did I went to the bar to get some darts, saw some pickle shots being served, and ordered two. I am not quite sure what happened, but the bartender served me the drinks and darts, and then told me that he was going to cut us off after the pickle shots. I said OK, but was quite confused. I paid my tab, tipped the guy, and went to play darts. No words were spoken. Shortly after, the bartender walked over to us and said that we would have to leave, "Boss's order." Further confused, I approached the bar and asked if I could speak the the boss. He immediately told me no. Once again, no words were spoken, then out of nowhere, the boss appeared (a tiny little lady) and angrily said she was the boss and we had to leave. Suddenly a big old man drunk sitting at the bar decided to get involved and aggressively told me that I better listen to the boss and leave. So we did, still confused as ever. We were half of the customers. Poor service, higher than dive prices, no pool table, angry regulars, and overall meanness from staff and "The boss." Maybe they knew something I didn't with regards to our group, but as they refused to give me a reason, I maintain that they are just rotten people. I do not recommend this place and never will. read more

Out of the million places to have a drink, this is the absolute last place you should go. The bartender was very rude and the owner also was extremely pretentious and just...arrogant and petty. Hospitality is dead here. Id rather give money to a felony junkie than support this establishment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I really hate that we didn't stay to watch the karaoke on Thursday night. So yes they have karaoke Thursday night and some pretty good specials on Monday night. We were just killing time and decided to stop on based on their Yelp reviews. It was a really nice place inside. They have the classic old school sign outside which is unique and the interior is very clean and spacious. The bartenders were awesome! Everyone there were drinking at a pretty fast pace. The place wasn't crowded but the bartender was moving and making drinks non stop. The drinks were pretty solid. They had a average draft menu but a good selection of bottle beer included a few local beers. Their liquor section isn't too insane, but they have a little bit of everything. Everyone was under friendly and respectful. The place gave out good vibes and left us feeling like we may have found a local bar to be repeat customers.r read more

Small and homey dive bar within walking distance in our neighborhood--what's not to love? Disclaimer: my hubs is a weekly regular. He loved the Mozart, along with its bartenders and friendly crowds. Mozart's feels like home. The bartenders are friendly and quick, the owners (or one of them) are usually around to shoot the **** with, and the drinks are cheap. Their "specialty" is a pickle shot (in the giant glass jug behind the bar) and if you throw in a few beers, your tab will be $10, and that includes a nice tip. Is the bar fancy? No. But that's part of the appeal. Go in on a weeknight evening and you're bound to walk in during darts league. Don't count on getting a seat or a table if darts is happening. And these guys are good! The crowd is friendly and you can sit at the bar alone without feeling creepy. Winners all around. read more

New ownership and a basic re-do of the interior, and this place is a great spot for a cocktail! I've been in a couple of times - great staff, very friendly and quick. The name got me twisted up! I was expecting a dive bar with touches of class. It's just a dive. The venue has a nice open layout with a stage. They have Karaoke on Thursday nights and it feels like a regular crowd. It was worth it just for the people watching and the fact that, some of the folks could sing! I see that this place has only 5 star reviews and I have a hard time believing they are authentic. I would say this place is a great neighborhood dive bar, but the food, especially during happy hour is mediocre at best and overpriced. Just attended their grand opening in November 2016. They clearly have put a lot of effort into the upgrades and the look and feel of the bar. One thing I noticed when I walked in was that it smelled clean and inviting rather than smell like a beer-stained bar. That made a big impression on me. Had a great time and will certainly return. Just plain great! Neighborhood bar that does it the old fashioned way: awesome customer service and attention to detail. We've been coming here since it opened about a year ago and have never been disappointed. Various events make a nice change of pace in a very good location.
