So we did a search for other Asian food markets and happened to find this one which is tucked away off Warwick Blvd. Would we find any available items to use for cooking on our day off? We were the only customers inside. It's smaller than E-Mart but if you're looking for items to use for Asian foods, you definitely found the right place. Asian music was playing throughout the market and the vibe was so quiet. It's cool when you're only one of two customers with no foot traffic in sight. And we were able to find bean sprouts which were fresh. And to my surprise, they even had Cafe Du Monde coffee up front. Being from Louisiana, one tradition was to head to a Cafe Du Monde spot and chow down on beignets and frozen cafe au lait and sometimes I had hot coffee. I didn't buy any, but it warmed my heart to see it here in Virginia. I know stores carry it nationwide, but maybe I was a bit naive.....ha!! Anyway, we were able to go in and out of the store with our bean sprouts just like that. When in doubt, look for some backup stores. And that's what we did. A small market, but one where you'll find whatever you're looking for. Till next time :)

The market is clean and has a lot to offer, from canned goods, baked goods, and more. They offer hot food and tasty treats. The young lady who took our Halo Halo order was very friendly. And the tasty Halo Halo packed with colorful ingredients, topped with Ube ice cream and leche flan hit the spot on a warm summer afternoon. 37 North had several customers stop in while we sat and enjoyed our Halo Halo. I stopped in on their opening day and have seen them make large strides from then to now! They listen to the community and respond with their whole heart! You can find many of our favorite Philippine staples there and don't need to drive to Newport News or Richmond to buy those necessities. They have them!! The new location has only half of what I bought at Jefferson Avenue in Newport News (not the other store on Warwick blvd.) E-Mart was relocated virtually overnight and without warning to Virginia Beach from Newport News. Did an army of marauders lug everything south or was it quantum tunneling and computer modeling that displace matter within space...? World Market in Newport News is the new E-Mart and has only furniture, not the Asian food I was looking for. Instead, I went next door to Fresh Market and bought two bags of red, white and blue potato chips. The woman of color behind the counter knew I understood what they had done. She said something out of context with my shopping trip: "It's my turn now."
