Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage - virtually no sauce,

My son picked up three meals for us. The chicken and rice are EXTREMELY dry. He asked for extra sauce for the meals and not only did we not get it, but it appears as though they put VERY little on the chicken. I just finished serving for my church's Saturday service to open the container to find this. My dinner is basically ruined which is odd because I have not had u Issues with them before. Hopefully this is just an off day... Unfortunately they close at 8. I have had food from here before and it is generally good, but you may want to exercise caution if you are ordering toward the end of the day. I am going to take this back up to the restaurant Monday as they are closed on Sunday. I hope they will replace this meal. Again, maybe an off day so don't let my bad experience determine whether you try them out. This was just irritating because I feel as though no effort was made to satisfy our request for extra sauce or to use adequate sauce for the meals because they were close to closing. I'd rather you inform us that you are unable to prepare the meal to specification.

As soon as I walked in I was asked if already knew what I wanted looked at the menu had a questions about how the menu worked. The food was saucy, flavorful, and well portioned. I got Oxtail, cabbage, peace and rice. My partner got jerk chicken (regular flavor) and plantains. I hate that they are the way in Hampton because I'm a Virginia Beach girl but is definitely a spot that I would go multiple times a month if I lived around here. The place is small but they have enough seating not for parties and the had a banger playlist. Nothing like eating good food with a good playlist.

Small individual fast food joint. Inexpensive prices and casual atmosphere with four tables and high chairs. Food was warm and decent, better than fast food. Service was okay. 2*Curry Goat: goat was okay. I picked two sides of collard greens and string beans. The greens were salty, felt very thirsty after the meal. 2*Veggie Patty: warm and freshly baked, tasted okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. 3*Oxtail: soft and tender, not salty, side dishes of yam and cabbage. Yam was pretty sweet.

How are you open but pick and choose what you wanna cook! I was on hold for 22 mins, so I just drove there, while still on hold. Was ordering 3 items but was informed that 2 of them items couldn't be cooked cause they were not cooking anymore.

Went here and got a beef patty & cocoa bread and was very disappointed. I got a hotdog bun and I don't know what else. As a New Yorker this to totally unacceptable a beef patty is supposed to fit inside the cocoa bread. I swear the Jamaican spots out here just ain't it when it comes to these. Not to mention the beef patties aren't even mad hot when you bite into them ‍

Tough oxtails and Mac and cheese and yams

The brown stew chicken was amazing better than the tough oxtails the Mac and yams never disappoint

In town working for the week, so needed a lunch spot close to the project site.. saw this place when visiting tropical smoothie in the same plaza. It caught my eye and it being Ash Wednesday, I knew today would be the best day to visit to avoid eating meat. I also enjoy trying different Vegan spots, as I don't consistently eat that way, but I love all food! I originally was going to order a black bean burger, yet the red bean burger was suggested and I always go with suggestions when somewhere new. It did not disappoint at all! I ate every single bite and felt full and satisfied after. I topped it with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and the creamy bbq sauce that was also suggested. Very impressive menu, so I will be back as I saw several items I wanted to try!

    Red Velvet Cake

Ordered from their vegan side - crab cake platter with Mac, rice & beans and plantains - side of greens and a piece of coconut cake. The "crab cake" was good, nice flavor, rice was a little dry (but ok). Mac was unusual - kind of had a hint of sweetness. The cake I received was very dry - I couldn't eat it. The greens were too salty. I would eat there again -but skip the cake.

Listen! I've been coming here for years and I've never been disappointed. Now the prices jumped up a couple of dollars at the beginning of 2023. The lunch special that ran about $8 is now $10 when paying with a debit or credit card. They do pass off the credit card fees to the customer so be prepared to pay and additional 3.99% to use your card. That being said, it is still the best lunch special for the quality, quantity and over all taste of the food. I religiously get stewed chicken, collard greens and cabbage with the plantain and a half lemonade and half sweet tea. Bomb!!! They don't have everything on the lunch special, but they have exactly what I like. For the lunch special, make sure you get there before 2pm. You are welcome.

    Restaurant sign about refunds!

We originally frequented this place and gave a great review but noticed the quality dropping. Today, we ordered the oxtail and the one where we requested a little gravy was drowning. More importantly, though, it was salty and tough! Although there is a sign which states you must bring back the product if dissatisfied, when it was brought back, the owner was NASTY and refused to refund the $36.00 less the fee!!! We then drove to Norfolk to Higher Heights where the food is always good!!! Keep in mind, the photo of the food is after quite a bit of gravy had spilled into the bag on the way home. We want to support businesses during this time! This was not a donation!!! They only received one star because the review won't post otherwise.

Buffalo chick'n wrap (vegan). I hadn't taken any bites yet.

Now the restaurant service left much to be desired. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable but scarce. After at least 15 minutes she finally approached the table saying she thought we wanted to catch up. How nice. But we are here to eat lunch. Here's a tip. If I say please give us some time to chat then come back in 15 minutes, THEN do that. My eggs and grits bowl was good and the turkey sausage patties were inedible. Also for some reason they always serve a mix of sweet and white potatoes. I do not eat sweet potatoes ever. Dana I beg you stop putting them in everything from soup to entrees. The salad bowl is an odd shape and difficult to manage. No place to set a utensil on the lip. The vibe is industrial cool and very spacious. More attentive service and some food changes would be better.

My vanilla cupcake was hard, and the icing for all were not too sweet. I prefer sweet icing. These were more of a whipped icing. But, that's just preference. Each cupcake was $4.50, which I think was spot on. They were bigger in size. I don't think I'll be getting anything else from the bakery at this time. There are so many cute, fun items in the store. I plan to stop back to get a few things I saw. Once I was done at the bakery store side I headed over for lunch. I was seated at a booth, chair combo seating. The booth was really comfortable. Our waiter was really good. He was attentive made sure our drinks were filled. He answered any questions we had. My starter was the Chesapeake Bay crab dip. That dip was one of the best I have had! Melty cheese, with wonderful flavor! It came out piping hot a d was paired with crispy yet soft pita rounds. I opted for the BBQ Brisket on a sweet potato bun. The bun was really delicious. I was happy the waiter informed me that this was not a hand held sandwich, but more of a fork and knife kind of dish. My side was a salad. The lemon dressing was amazing. My friend also had the same dressing and she raved about it as well. Over I'd like to return and try out more dishes and maybe some of their breakfast items I've heard good things about the Brunswick stew as well . The location is in Phebus and I think it is a really great area to be at .

You can have the biscuit just the way it is, or put the apple compote on top, and finish it off with the streusel topping and it really is a great mesh of all flavors! The fried green tomatoes were my favorite! You have to put all the ingredients together... the salad, the sauce and the tomato. There was so much flavor! The berry french toast was my favorite sweet treat of all the things I tried. The gumbo was packed full of shrimp, meat, okra and more. The temperature was cool not as hot as I would have liked. And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. We were given some time to look over the menu and we decided to start with drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Dolce Vita Margarita, a Whiskey Sour and the Tuna Bites, ordered medium. The drinks were okay and the Tuna Bites were actually pretty good, but unfortunately, some were cooked well done while others were slightly medium rare. For our entrees, we chose the Crab Cake Dinner with Girl Sprouts & Mashed Potatoes and the Rasta Pasta. The Rasta Pasta came out first and had great flavor but it was lacking that jerk seasoning taste that you would get from traditional "Rasta Pasta". My sides were then brought out and the Girl Sprouts were great but the Mashed Potatoes definitely needed some salt. I was then served a Crab Cake Sandwich, which I didn't order, so I had to wait another 10 mins for my Crab Cakes, which came out a little burnt. Overall, I wish I can say I had a better experience. I opted for a sugar-free dark chocolate latte which was delicious - perfect level of sweetness and just the right temperature. I also ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on naan bread. They have multiple cheese and other bread options. The egg was a little over seasoned but flavor was good. Compared to the major chains and other independent coffee shops, prices here are reasonable. Overall a great visit with welcoming and helpful staff. Looking forward to a trip back!
