My son is visiting this area and has been at Cava 3 times so far. I joined him today at the Oyster Point Tech Center location. There was no line today which I'm told is unusual. It is an add on type eatery where you choose a base ie greens, rice, etc and then add on meats, veggies, sauces for a Mediterranean bowl experience. I got a child's size which was a very generous portion. The drink offerings are diverse and tasty. Seat yourself in a sunny, industrial setting. Take out is probably brisk. Price point is reasonable, and food is tasty. Nothing to improve or recommend! It's very good Mediterranean fast food! read more

This may have been the best salad I've had in years. I would encourage anyone to come to this particular restaurant and have a salad. It's so many things you could do with it. Love Mediterranean food, the concept and most of the food is good, going down hill a bit compared when they first opened, I'm sure they are low staffed but they need to keep up with the cleanness of the tables and drink areas. My regular is the kids meal which comes out to be $8.12 after tax it's good option for those that want to try it out or even it sample it comes with the option of one spread with two topping and sauce as well as the option with pita chips which are my new favorite with a drink I'm lemonade person and there's is really good just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. also I get my order place to go and I usually give about 15 minutes and I've never had to wait on my order after placing it. It's always ready on time and still warm and everything and the staff are very helpful if you need any assistance and they don't hesitate to stop what they're doing and to assist you very quick and giving you great service. There a lot of space to unwind on your off day and work day to eat in. I can't believe I've neglected to write a review for this location. I love CAVA. It's so good. I brought my friend here the other day to try it out. She was only here for a weekend and wanted to come back again the day after we got a bowl. Safe to say she's a believer. The food tastes fresh. The sauces are on point and the service was pretty great! The employees were pretty friendly. The only thing about this location is that I always have to come back and ask for a pita. The location in VA beach does ask, they just give you the pita slice with your bowl. I got the harissa avocado bowl and it hits every time. Just spicy enough and the flavors are chefs kiss! My friend and I went on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty crowded and the line was long but to me, that means there must be something very good about the food to cause people to be willing to wait. They were not wrong. My friend and I each got a build-your-own bowl and the food was very good. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The portions were good too. Service was fine. There wasn't much time to be overly friendly as the workers were focused on serving everyone as quickly as they could. One thing that stood out to me was how well the team worked together. It was poetry in motion. It was almost as if each person was anticipating what the others were about to do. Such great teamwork and coordination of efforts. I was very impressed. I'm still on the fence about this place. For one, I'm still upset Zoe's Kitchen, that use to be here is gone. Zoe's was my go to for lunch. Secondly, my first experience at Cava I got sick to my stomach. Not sure if it was because I hadn't eaten all day or the meatballs in my bowl didn't agree with me, I don't know, but it made me sick. The set up is cafeteria style, were you walk through, place your order and pick it up as you pay before preceding to your table. One of the prep personnel did a nice job explaining options and what was what. The menu options is not plenty, you can either get your mix in a bowl, wrap or salad. There were greens and different rice mixtures, some kind of spicy chicken, meatballs but I didn't see a steak option cause that is what I really wanted. Check out was good, the restaurant was clean and the service was exceptional. Its just the food did not excite my taste buds. Well I admit I will miss Zoe's, especially their roasted vegetables, but CAVA is a perfectly adequate replacement. I had been to the one in Virginia Beach as well, and the fact that there is now one across the street from my house, that's pretty stellar. I ordered my meal online and it was ready right on time. The Right Rice is a great upgrade from regular rice for $0.55. The grilled chicken was juicy, really good stuff. And the option to add avocado, even if for an upcharge, is certainly welcome. The Shug sauce is really not spicy, like it is at other Mediterranean fast casual joints. If you're looking for heat, maybe get the spicy harissa? My complaints are about the proteins. I don't understand why they can't have steak on the menu though, like Mezeh does. And how are roasted vegetables a protein instead of a topping? Makes no sense. I did a pickup order and they all started blaming each other as to why it wasn't ready and that my order was nowhere to be found when I was told it was going to be ready at a certain time. I gave them 5 minutes before going in just in case there were any issue and then they completely ignored me for 10 minutes. Two of the girls were arguing about who deleted the order and when I went up to ask what was going on with the order she told me they never received it. After waiting 20 minutes for my pickup order it's safe to say that just coming in and ordering is faster and easier. CAVA... what happened!? I order pick up at least once every two weeks from here and I gotta say, either staff are not paying attention to orders or they're purposefully holding back on toppings and pita bread because my bowls have been getting smaller and prices aren't dropping. So, what's the problem here? I usually get the right+rice bowl or the potato bowl and add a couple of things like pickled onion, or tomato and onion, Persian cucumbers, and olives - but this is the third time I've had only one of those added to my order and it was maybe a matchbox size amount. AND - every time, without fail, I add the "free" pita onto my order on the app, but it never makes it to the bag and I have to go back in and ask for it. What's worse is the size of the free pita is now an absolute joke, it's a 1/2 of the 1/2 a pita once provided, but if you come late at night, you might just get a 1/3 of the 1/2... Bit of an insult, really. I use the app to save me time when I'm on the go and whilst there have been major improvements to the customer interface, it evidently doesn't save me anytime as I always have to go back in and ask for something that was missing from the order (or a few things.) I hate hate hate leaving bad reviews and the food is so delicious here that I feel annoyed that I have to drop my 4 star review to a 1.5 rounded up. Staff are so friendly and kind in here, so I don't get where the misconnect is happening. Please, do better. read more

Finally! So excited that CAVA finally opened up in Newport News Tech Center where Zoe's formerly was. This CAVA is clean and fresh like all the other locations. The staff is extremely friendly and their servings are generous. Even though it was their first week of opening, the staff kept the line moving and took the time to ask people how their day was. What a welcome this new addition is! My husband and I have tried almost all the bowl combos that CAVA offers -- however, Harissa Chicken is our favorite. They have a plethora of combos with their hummus options, toppings, and sauces -- all which are delicious.
