Found this food truck in downtown Raleigh during the Memorial Day festivities, and this truck felt like a godsend. Originally, I had left my friends who were relaxing and listening to the music to browse around the other trucks. Initially, I had wanted ice-cream, but after seeing the enormity of the line for it, I'd decided to wait a bit before coming back. Along the way, I had stumbled upon this truck, and I hadn't had beignets since visiting New Orleans. I bought a small pack of 3, and each was like a little friend and powdered square from heaven, honestly better than what I had whilst in Louisiana. Give me an A! Give me a B! Mr. A's Beignets! Stopped by their food truck for a morning treat and I was in powdered sugar heaven. This square French doughnut was so fluffy on the inside yet crisp on the outside. You could smell the sweet smell before even taking a bite! Soooo good. They even have chocolate dipping sauce, can't go wrong with Nutella! The box has a cut out of Louisiana which is a nice tribute to its popularity in New Orleans. read more

We've been visiting Mr. A's for years now. As my 5 year old said, "the people that make these beignets are the BEST!" The only downsides are that we wind up covered in powdered sugar, and they don't travel all that well. That aside, the full sized beignets and the bites are delicious. I enjoy the coffee with chicory, too. Both the owners and the employees are friendly. Just wish they were still open more often. read more

The only beignets I've tried are the ones I've had here and they were delicious! Hours are limited to Th/Fr/Sat from 7/8-12pm but worth it to check out when you're in the area. It's located right next to downtown apex so it would be great to stop by and stroll through DT apex for a short walk. There is a good amount of the parking space in the lot. My new favorite (and vice)! Read the great reviews and had to give them a try. We've had them twice at their usual spot, and once at Fenton. I'm not really a fan of the minis - though others in my family liked them. The full size version is where they truly shine! It seems like such a simple thing, but it's the execution that makes it such a treat. Fried fresh, but not greasy - good amount of sugar, deliciously light and fluffy. Service was with a smile! Delicious! The hardest part about eating these delicious desserts is the powdered sugar. With each bite, a cloud of sugar will get on your mouth, nose and clothes. The yellow truck came to our office for special events and you can normally find it parked on Salem street in Apex. These pastries made of deep- fried dough are scrumptious and rival any donut I have had. Get your napkins ready and enjoy every sweet bite. read more

Update: Mr. A sent me a nice message to tell me that French style and New Orleans style beignets are different - the latter are more dense and doughy inside. So if you like that texture, go for them. Hm, not sure why so many people are giving 5 stars. The beignets were okay, but the outer layer was not crispy enough and the inside was too dense and doughy. I took several bites when they first handed the beignets to me, so it can't be that the beignets were left out (unless they gave me an old batch). It's $5 for 3, but I can go to Rue Cler and get 6 for $5 that are higher quality. Shame. Had hoped to like these. read more

A bite of New Orleans! Served piping hot out of a yellow truck just outside the downtown Apex main street. Got the three beignets for four dollars. They were slightly smaller than the ones I had in Louisiana. Of course square in shape and with a very generous amount of powdered sugar. It can get messy, so I ate on top of my car instead of inside the car, it would have been a white layer everywhere. Wet wipes available outside the truck. Beignets were so hot, I had to wait a good five minutes before I could even touch them and tear it apart. The inside was slightly doughy. I have noticed a few folks making it this way, even the famous Cafe Du Monde. I would come back for more. You can also get the 12 mini bites and they have dipping sauces for an additional cost. I wish they were open later in the day because they close already at 12AM on Saturdays. read more

Yum! Hot, fresh, sweet powdery goodness. Decided to stop and give it a try given the good reviews and I was impressed. The beignets seem small given the price (I'm comparing them to a regular donut) which is why I took off one star but it was definitely filling and delicious. read more

I finally got to try Mr. A's Beignets! I have not had very many beignets but judging from the reviews these are comparable to the ones you would get in Louisiana. These are good but they are denser than Cafe Du Monde. Great job for a food truck. The service is good and the lady working was nice. There isn't variety except for a choice of dipping sauce. The choices are Nutella, caramel and fudge. You get three beignets for five dollars. It is a fair deal. The dipping sauce is a dollar each. Also, chicory coffee is available. All and all, it was a delightful treat. My only feedback is the texture inside the beignet needs to be a little lighter. read more

Today was my first time going here. I've seen it on Yelp many times but I'm usually not in the area on the weekends but thank goodness the chance presented itself. The presentation alone had my mouth watering. I decided I wanted the best of both worlds so I ordered the minis and the big ones. I ended up finishing the minis before I made it home. Beignets are one of my favorites and I am super picky but these were everything I could ask for and more. I highly suggest if you're ever in the area to stop by this food truck and stock up. I can't say enough good things about Mr. A's, not only is the customer service great while he interacts with each of the customers... But he's always willing to support local schools. He's showing up at the last minute to substitute for food trucks who haven't shown and also provided donations back to the school. It's parked (right now) at Super Sod off of Davis on Mondays, - but their calendar shows their locations during the week.
