The food and service was great. The atmosphere is like going to a favorite relative's house. The only problem it's not near to where I live!

When we travel, we try not to stop at chain restaurants. This was definitely not a chain and was excellent.!! The restaurant looks like a house but has a large parking lot behind it. My husband got the deep fried ribs, fried okra, and green beans, my mom had smoked ribs potato casserole, and coleslaw, I had the cat fish, fries and coleslaw. We split a piece of chess pie for dessert. Everything was delicious! The owner and staff were very nice and friendly. read more

The best southern bbq ribs & comfort food & the hospitality is super! They'll treat you like family! We were on our way to Elijay, Ga from Little Rock, Ar. We didn't want to stop in Memphis because of the traffic. This is on exit 56 then take a left. It's about 7 miles in this small farm town. Warm friendly welcome, attentive service and delicious food! Everything is smoked, not BBQ'd, and I don't like smoked meat but I really enjoyed the brisket and the ribs we were given for a complimentary taste test. The meat was tender, tasty and totally cooked, with the rib meat falling off the bone. We tried the homemade chess pie at the recommendation of a couple of regulars. I particularly enjoyed the hot slightly peppery green beans and sweet potato casserole. What a great find!! read more

We loved Mr. Baby Back. Restaurant is in a house so you have to look for it, but well worth the search. The owners and servers are extremely polite and on their game. We split a rib platter: some of the best ribs we've ever had. Not sure if the sides (baked beans, potato salad) are homemade or not, but again, the ribs were great. Also shared a slice of Chess Pie (it's a southern thing) that was one of the BEST pies I've ever had. We live about 25 miles away, but we will be back! read more

My husband and I stopped in Brownsville for the night, and found this place for dinner. It's located in the back of what appears to have previously been a home that is shared with an insurance company. The restaurant area feels very homey and is extremely well kept. We were greeted immediately by the sweetest lady and seated. While we reviewed the menu she brought us some ice cold watermelon. So very refreshing after our 10 hour drive. I ordered the small catfish plate and my husband ordered the ribs. He raved about how good they were, and he gave me a taste. They were absolutely awesome! He said the potato salad and corn were awesome as well. My catfish plate was very good and I would absolutely get it again. The staff were very friendly, inviting, and attentive and came out several times to make sure we were happy with everything. If we are ever in the area again, we will absolutely go back. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you are ever in the area!! read more

Passing through Brownsville & stopped to eat here because of the great reviews. For us, it didn't live up to the reviews. We had a rib plate & catfish plate. Our ribs were meaty & had good smoke flavor but were dry. The fried catfish was very good. Crisp, fresh & not a bit greasy. The cole slaw, baked beans & potato salad tasted like the processed supermarket types -not homemade. The green beans had an odd flavor to them, some kind of seasoning that was off. Wish we liked the flavors better cause the portions are generous, the people who run the restaurant are very welcoming & the atmosphere is comfortable & homey. read more

So, we made a little drive this afternoon, up to Brownsville, to try a new restaurant (new to us). I had read about it on Facebook yesterday and it had really good remarks about how good the food was and the service, too. They were not wrong! Very good ribs, very meaty and no fat (on mine, Jimmy said he had one tiny piece on his), good smoke, good sauce, baked beans were mild and creamy, potato salad was not your typical "food service variety" that most places seem to serve these days, corn on the cob (full ear, not half) was good, and hubby said the fried okra was good, too. (I'll just have to take his word for that!). It's in a little house that they converted into the restaurant, right on the main highway through town. And the place was VERY CLEAN, a BIG PLUS, in my book!! The owners were the ones taking care of you ... seating you, taking the orders, bringing the food and checking on you to make sure everything was okay. Very friendly and welcoming! It was a very pleasant experience and we'll definitely go back again, for the ribs and to try other things on the menu! My husband even said, "you picked a good one this time!" (as sometimes my "let's try this new place" experiences aren't always a hit!) and that they were the best ribs he's had in a long, long time! Coming from him, that's high praise!! Mr Baby Back Restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. The restaurant was one of the cleanest places I have visited in a very long time. No sticky menus, no filthy tables or walls everything was immaculate. The service was exceptional to say the least. The couple that owns this place makes a wonderful team, thanks to the Clark's. I'm from Memphis, TN and this restaurant had the best BBQ/Ribs of my life. The ribs have the perfect amount of smoke and literally fall off the bone. The BBQ was tender, very moist, and is covered in a sweet but tangy sauce. The portions were very generous for the price. This place is an absolute treasure. It was storming outside as we rushed in. We were welcomed into their charming dining area which reminds me of someone's home. I had the fried shrimp plate which had the surprise of some corn fritters. The shrimp were perfect and more than I could eat. The corn fritters were yummy! I had delicious homemade potato salad and green beans with a secret recipe. My husband had the rib platter. They were so tender that that the meat just fell off of the bone.
