Watching them perform, handle the crowd, recover from little mistakes, and finish strong was incredibly moving as a parent. School of Rock is a truly great program. It teaches music, but more than that it teaches teamwork, discipline, and how to show up when it matters. You can tell these kids are learning life skills along with guitar riffs and drum fills. Hawthorne Theatre was the perfect venue for this experience. It feels real and authentic, not polished or sterile. Being close to the stage made everything feel personal and immersive. He has a lot of knowledge about a wide range of music styles for the piano and guitar, and is receptive to helping me learn anything I'm interested in. Of course, he's also patient and encouraging, and as an elementary school teacher for fifteen years, I know how important it is to be both patient and encouraging to one's students. As a child, I took some piano lessons from an older lady in the neighborhood. She only brought me hymns to play (when I wanted to play classical) and didn't teach me anything about theory. I didn't take lessons for very long, as a result. Over the last thirty years, I've tried to work at it and get better on my own, but it was only when I started lessons with Robin, that I finally began growing and progressing to the next level of both playing and understanding. What's interesting is that now when I learn a new piece, whether it's a classical piece or if I'm trying to pick out a song by an artist I love, I approach it very differently. I am able to learn it more quickly and without having to memorize as much, because I better understand the structure of music. Great experience!

Without fail, either through lack of sleep, dehydration, the weather, yelling, or earlier bad habits, my voice has always found a way to be thrown off-balance. But those worries are now in the past. I've found a rehabilitation center, in the 45-minute weekly lesson, where my voice enters the hands of a vocal surgeon. I enter with a voice tensed up and short on range, and leave with an instrument I can be proud of. On top of all that, It doesn't hurt that Daniel's an all-around great guy, making lessons not only instructive, but enjoyable. 5 Stars. Highly Recommend.

I sing with a lot more confidence and have genuinely enjoyed doing my daily exercises, which he sends me in an audio file after each lesson. He's a very good teacher: patient, efficient and has specific, substantive skills to offer. Rather than trying to teach me a specific style, he's helping me get my voice muscles trained up so that I'm more capable of singing in the style that I'm interested in. It's sort of like Physical Therapy for your voice. I've had a lot of music teachers over the years, and I really think Daniel has a strong gift for teaching!
