When I walked in I had visions of years past. It looked like a small diner with a small diner bar. I was greeted promptly. I ordered a biscuit to go. One of the things I have come to love on this trip are the Southern biscuits. This place has the best biscuits North or South of Popeye's. A small Mom & Pop operation in a "seen better days" facility manned by the owner. When I complemented her on her wonderful biscuits, she said " Honey, they should be. This was the best place in town to get a breakfast biscuits for many years. Lately the prices have gone up and the portions have gotten much smaller. I just got a biscuit with a piece of tenderloin that was paper thin and smaller than the biscuit. For $3.73 they should be arrested for petty theft. The coffee has always been really bad. About like the stuff served in an auto repair waiting room. The RaceTrac across the road has much better brews for the same price. The staff is old, grumpy and very rough cut to be serving food. The place looks like a shabby hole from the 1960s. I will never go back until new owners take over. Hopefully that will happen soon. read more

Interestingly enough, I typically do not like Bologne, but Mr. Biscuit's Bologne & Egg Biscuit is always my go-to. Close to a 5- 4 and 1/2. Coffee good but not great. That being said I am not really a biscuit person. However- there was something about these biscuits that were really really good! They were not dry - Love the flavor. The owner is Mr. biscuits niece who has owned it now for two years. She has worked there 40 years! Back to the food. It was quick and they absolutely know how to make a over medium egg. The grits were exceptionally good however super hot so be careful. Bacon crisp - cooked perfectly. I can only speak to the breakfast as I have never had lunch there. This place has the best biscuit in Dalton hands down. There are lots of good biscuits around Dalton/Rocky face but Mr. Biscuit is my favorite. The biscuits are consistently a perfect golden brown and not too dry or moist. I almost aways get the sausage biscuit with mustard. If you aren't from around here and traveling up I-75 in the morning stop at exit 336 and try them out. I am going to warn you this is a Mom and Pop shop. They don't take credit/debit cards. No one wears a uniform. The drive through consists of someone leaning out the back door to take your order on a pad before you drive up to the cashiers window. It shares a building with a liquor store. The decor hasn't been updated since the 70's. But, I like it just the way it is and wouldn't change a thing (except maybe the debit card thing. We randomly found this place while searching different breakfast restaurants online. I would highly recommend going to Waffle House or Cracker Barrel over this place. Biscuits were the size of a half dollar, the chicken looked like it came from Long John Silvers (yes I know it's a fish place). We have visited Mr Biscuit several times for breakfast. So this time we got there at 11am and had lunch. It was awesome! Meat and three for $5.29. I had grilled tenderloin (which was $1 more) with mixed beans, fried squash and cole slaw. She also had mashed potatoes as a side. All of the sides were homemade. The mixed beans were pintos and white beans with some meat in them. Great flavor ! And the fried squash was delicious. Sliced yellow squash beaded in a cornmeal mixture and fried like you would fried potatoes. Cole slaw was finely grated cabbage and carrot with a heavy mayo dressing. I'd give it a 4 if the goal was large portions because you are definitely getting your money's worth at Mr. Biscuit. However, we are big into biscuits and grave and never had biscuits and gravy come without sausage in the gravy before, so to us it was really really bland and disappointing. To people who are use to getting their biscuits and gravy that way this might be just fine but when you are expecting a mess of sausage in your gravy and you just get white stuff, it's a bit of a let down. OK, driving from Florida we were forced to stop in Dalton Georgia for the night by a massive storm, it was a monsoon! Got up this morning searched on yelp for a breakfast restaurant and we found Mr. Biscuit Number 2. All the other reviews are correct; great prices, great biscuits, friendly people and I'm full. I had the sausage plate with two eggs fried over easy and all meals seem to come with two biscuits and a bowl of gravy. I ordered an extra couple of biscuits... Good choice! So after cutting a biscuit in half and putting one egg on each half and a piece of sausage then covering it with gravy I was in breakfast heaven! Sure it's atmosphere could be a little fancier, but I don't think the food could be better. If there was one drawback it was they don't provide spoons to scoop up what's left on your plate. But that's where the two extra biscuits come in. Just sop up that gravy and don't worry about it because you got a roll of paper towels right there on the table to clean up any mess. read more
