My first visit was back in August 2010 when I bought a large bag of cocoa, definitely preYelp for…read moreme. I've driven past this spot a gazillion times and just read this specialty business has been around since 1997! Props for longevity! I stopped in yesterday (1/22/26) for three reasons: I had a Too Good To Go confectionary pickup, wanted to see their Kasama Chocolate selection, and look around after my 15-16 year hiatus. Parking along Elliott in the Interbay area is dicey due to bus lanes, parking restrictions and traffic flow. Luckily, there are a few parking slots on the south side of their building, adjacent to Holy Mountain Brewing. Walked in and was blown away at the retail layout, so much to see! The counter person (owner?) was busy with another customer. Their convo was very warm and interactive. So I slowly meandered through the store and really liked what I saw. I should have come here for useful holiday gifts. I was later checked upon inquiring whether I needed any help locating any particular item(s). Chocolates, spices, olive oils, sauces, condiments, pasta, and other specialty items that a culinarian, gourmand, or treasure seeker would fully enjoy. The retail displays are so enticing and provides a lot of inspiration. Plus ChefShop is a lot closer to me than heading to PFI on S Dearborn. I ended up having to restrain myself and selected ras el hanout and berbere spice jars and two bars of Kasama Chocolate for purchase. The latter I learned about from Instagram, much closer than having to trek to Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, BC. Plus my TGTG confectionary bag, everything found made for a successful retail visit. Terrific retail layout. Welcoming and informative customer service. With the loss of Chocolopolis further down Elliott, ChefShop is another great resource for quality chocolate varieties. Definitely, follow them via IG (@chefshopseattle) for up to date info & classes. Great to stock your pantry, find unique gifts for others, and treats for yourself. Just don't have such a long delay between visits like me. Highly recommended!

I had picked up some canned fish that had expired several months prior. However, I did not see the expiration date on the 2.2 pounds of pinhead oats that I purchased until I went to use them just now and they have a best buy date of 2/26 (I purchased them in May). I did not buy that many products so I'm wondering how many other items were past date.

As…read morea side comment, it would have been a nice touch to provide a bit of bread to sop up the sauce. One could purchase it separately, but one or two pieces would have sufficed. I ordered their signature dish: the crow lasagne. I am picky about lasagne and appreciate all combinations. This one did not quite hit the mark. The marinara sauce was bright and flavorful, but barely lukewarm. It was hard to tell whether this was deliberate. The lasagne itself was good, but the consistency was odd. It was almost as if the noodles were made of gnocchi (potato) dough. The ricotta and sausage had a nice flavor. I had debated whether to order the chanterelle pasta. One of my dining partners did, and after seeing it, I was glad I did not. The pasta looked as if it was cooked properly with a variety of mushrooms;, but I did not see any chanterelles. I would have been disappointed. The salmon filet and grilled vegetables were presented nicely. The clams in miso broth were an unusual presentation; the stark white shells and plate contrasted sharply with the brown broth. The broth was tasty though. The desserts were also a mixed bag. The ganache on the German chocolate cake was rich and delicious. The pumpkin basque cheesecake did not have the consistency of a typical basque cake, but had a good flavor. The sweet cream mousse topping on both desserts was a perfect accompaniment. A solid restaurant and definitely worth stopping in.

The drinks are fine. But with the higher prices and slower service, you can find better elsewhere. You wait to get a seat at the bar. If you don't have a reservation you can still sit. They will offer you to sit anywhere, but beware... if you skip a seat they may as you to move down 1/2 way through your drinks (happened twice when the bar wasn't even full). At this point, just direct people where to sit and don't let them choose! The ambiance and decor is confusing. A fun Rochambeau idea that' just didn't happen right. The "vibes" just aren't there.

It was overall a great experience with one exception; the chairs are dreadful. While I am sure that helps get people to move along, they are hard, no backs and sized for a small child. Even a small cushion would make it better. The food, that's why I would recommend this place. Everything we had was delicious, made to order (in front of us) and overall great. It's obvious the hush puppies are a favorite as they kept flying out. We ordered them. They were soft and creamy with a delicious sauce! I had the scallops, which were huge and while I almost didn't order them because they came on a bed of frisse, but this was excellent and I really enjoyed it. Others in the party ordered the mushrooms, carrots, and duck. All were very happy with their choices. Such a hip, swanky kind of place. We will definitely be back!

After a long day of exploring, an establishment with an inviting lit up spacious patio caught our eye. We decided to check them out. We arrived to Citizen Collective on a Sunday night for cocktails. The cafe is located in a nice area in the Queen Anne neighborhood in downtown Seattle. Parking is accessible on the street. The cafe is apparently known for their brunch, coffee, and cocktails in a cozy chill environment. There is an outdoor beer garden with plenty of sitting areas, yard games, and multiple fire pits. A small homely room with plenty of board games is available for kids as well. We ordered a Chardonnay and a Fever Dream cocktail. Our drinks were refreshing and crisp. They definitely hit the spot after a long day of walking. We had our drinks by the large fire pit which was a great way to unwind. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Citizen Collective. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The s'more's option is a nice touch. The vibe was relaxing and welcoming. Unfortunately we did not see the inside of the cafe where the brunch is served. We hope to be back when we are in town to try the food.
