Came here on a recommendation from my Manager (Daniel) and I'm so glad I did. Sandwhich bread is Artesin, crunchy, warm, tuna is not overly salty. It can get busy during lunch so call ahead. Small mom and pops deli and market right off Eastlake Ave in a convenient location. Pop in for a quick sandwich (they've got many options) or a coffee or a bag of chips. The sandwiches are great and the owner is very nice! I came by as a part of my Eastlake Escapade (see Other section for description of what that is. Food I got the Eastlake club sandwich and it left me wanting to come back to try the other sandwiches! The have the Boar's Head meat sandwich sign outside so that is what I guess they use. A common chain deli meat provider for the Seattle area I believe and it's still good. The vegetables they used were fresh. The bread was soft on the inside and I appreciated that the sandwich wasn't all bread. They even throw in a pickle on the side! There's a wide variety of chips and snacks up can also pick up to compliment your sandwich. Atmosphere Nothing fancy at all. Just a deli and small market you can quickly pop in and out of for whatever food or drink needs you might have. The surrounding area of this deli is very nice though. Just walk down the hill and you'll find a picnic bench on the edge of Lake Union that overlooks the lake and Gas Works park!!! Perfect for a summer day! Came here to order a chicken sandwich w/ muenster cheese, lettuce, and whole wheat bread. It was tasty and satisfied my hunger. It was what you would expect for a sandwich. Wouldn't say the service was quick as it took 10-15 minutes for a cold sandwich (it didn't need to be heated). I saw another person waiting for his order at the time so I took a walk and had to come back twice for it. I would come here again to get a sandwich craving when in the area! Really over it with all the racism and colorism I have to experience every single day in Seattle even from other people of color? It makes no sense! Jake is working here tonight at 5:45 and he was either being racist colorist or he is not aware of the correct law when regards to alcohol. If a customer is obviously of the legal age you do not have to check their ID. I have my mast permit and I am a bartender and I know this for a fact because you have to read the laws in regards to the alcohol codes when you get the mast permit. My go-to sandwich spot for lunch in Eastlake. Tried the Porky Melt (new pulled pork barbecue sandwich) today, and it was bomb! Also a huge fan of the Gobble-Gobble-Gobble (Turkey w/ bacon, Mayo and cranberry sauce). The staff is very welcoming, prices are affordable as a student and they have a nice selection of beer, wine, and snacks. They are also equipped for contactless payment incl. I questioned, "it's only 2:45 & you're supposed to be opened until 3pm.". The deli sandwiches are delicious, no matter which one you order. The owner and employees are nice too. The prices are a little high but there aren't many other stores or mini marts in this area. The sandwiches are made to order and come with a pickle spear. They use to come with an andes mint, but I guess that has changed. I recommend the lake union: turkey and bacon on wheat; big dipper: roast beef and au jus sauce (they frequently sell out of this so I have to ask if they have any that day); tokyo tuna: tuna sandwich with wasabi mayo; blt bomber: bacon with guacamole. These are my regular go to's. They also have a large variety of drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic, chips and snacks. There are plenty of frozen items available but prices are pretty steep. The Asian sesame noodles and smoked mozzarella pasta aren't to shabby either. Or you can get a breakfast bagel and coffee or even a boiled egg and yogurt. Delis/markets... especially when they are in a residential/office/etc areas with little else within at least a couple blocks.... are SO wonderful! It was a Saturday morning and I was on my way to do some volunteer work planting some (native) trees/shrubs... and I wanted coffee. I walked a few blocks and then saw their sign advertising Vashon Coffee (Company). Extra points for working with a local company (that is apparently also family-owned)! They have a deli, cheese (blocks like in grocery stores- Hogs Head is the brand, I think? They have Delis and stuff in some QFC/Safeway locations?), all kinds of misc food items, bottled drinks, etc.... and the very important selection of drip and espresso drinks (as well as some tea/chai/etc). I got a tall mocha and it was pretty good. They also have a little "bar" type seating area against the window, which seems great for anybody who wants to eat their lunch there and/or possibly use their laptops (not sure about that one, but I did see one charging). read more

Hamlin Market and Deli is a cute, mom-and-pop convenience mart located on Eastlake Avenue. In this tiny store, there is a tidy selection of frozen food (think Amy's, DiGiorno, and the like), wine, beer, soft drinks and sundries. Since Eastlake doesn't have a grocery store, Hamlin Market is a decent substitute when you need stuff in the immediate area to tide you over till you can visit Trader Joe's in the U-District or QFC in Capitol Hill. The deli sandwiches and the service are the main draws here. I'm a big corned beef fan, so the Long Island Shuttle sandwich (corned beef, pastrami, Muenster cheese, delicatessen-style brown mustard, and horseradish on rye bread) really hits the spot! This is a small neighborhood convenience store which is, well, convenient if you live in neighborhood. They have a limited amount of groceries at premium prices and a surprisingly diverse beer and wine section. There's also a deli where one can buy sandwiches and such during lunch hour. One major drawback in my mind is that when I'm desperate for something (e.g., coffee, milk) their $5 minimum on credit cards forces me to purchase more than I intended. This store will do in pinch, but as soon as there's a real grocery store in Eastlake that's where I'll be spending my $. read more

Love this spot! Little New York style deli. I got the Long Island sandwich and it was so tasty. They use boar head meats which are fantastic and they used fresh horse radish on the sandwich which was amazing. They also have a pretty good beer and wine selection. A little sammich and beer during a sunny eastlake summer day? I'll take it! The only bummer is that they are closed on the weekends. Next time I'd like to try their coffee. Also, I wouldn't recommend going here for a grocery trip by any means. The actual shelf items are incredibly expensive. read more

I have yet to have a sammich here that isn't freaking delicious. At present I'm munching on The Lake Union, sans tomatoes plus avocado, and holy yum. Love the crispy pickle and the Andes mint that come with every sandwich. Good, small selection of other foods that you might need if you live in the area and just don't have time to head to the supermarket. Sandwich area a liiitttllleee pricey, but not overwhelming. I've always been a big proponent of getting what you pay for, and this place makes that old adage ring true. The Quality is in the bag. Everything is a bit overpriced here. Everything. Their selection of what would be considered your standard convenience store items is a little odd but it works. If you're claustrophobic you may want to skip over this quick-e mart since you need to be about 90 pounds or greased to the nines to navigate their aisles. They do have a deli here... if you're fortunate enough to come by when it's actually open (the deli keeps different hours from the rest of the shop) they make some great sandwiches and breakfast munchies. Again... over priced but tasty enough that I'm giving 3 stars for their yummy sandwiches instead of the 2 stars this place likely deserves overall. Hamlin is more a beast of convenience than someplace I would go as a destination. If you're in the area and need a pack of gum or something to drink it'll get you handled. read more

This is a fantastic neighborhood store/deli. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here, but if you're in the area this is a solid spot for a deli sandwich. Might I recommend the Tokyo Tuna? It has a wasabi base that gives it an awesome bite. They have breakfast sandwiches too, but I haven't tried them as of yet. Everything I've tried for lunch has been good. They carry a variety of other items like any quick mart would. The convenience factor raises the prices so this isn't going to be someplace you buy your groceries, but it is a really great option if you need something last minute. At this very moment I am eating their Not Your Average BLT sandwich and felt compelled to spread the news that it's effin' DELISH!!!! This is one of the best BLTs I have ever had, not that I'm a certified BLT expert... but seriously, amazing. The bacon itself is not greasy, not flimsy, perfect cut of deliciousness. The tomatoes are thick and plentiful with lettuce and nicely-toasted wheat bread. The market is just down the street from my home and has a wonderful selection of typical market food, but surprisingly I saw some more gourmet products such as Sahale Snacks, Kashi Frozen Foods, etc. If you ever need beverages, snacks, ice cream, sandwiches, even pantry items, this place is convenient. Anyway, they have very good sandwiches (my personal favorite is the Long Island Shuttle on wheat), even though they all taste the same after a while. The Urban Cowboy is very good too. They have a limited selection of fruits and vegetables, wine, crackers, and a plethora of soda (some natural cane sugar) and chips. I love that in addition to some of the typical convenience store junk food that you'd expect, they carry a lot of organic and natural convenience foods (Amy's Kitchen frozen foods, to name one). The prices are a little high, but not too bad. I had not been there in about a year and was looking so forward to my old regular order which was either an All American or a veggie Reuben sandwich. A human Pavlovian response! I opted for the former and it did look and feel a little different upon opening i. As soon as I took the first bite I knew that a change had occurred, and I am hoping that the new owners can continue to strive for the old success story.that the owners that I knew must be gone.
