I was slightly disappointed by the food here. However, I acknowledge it may just be personal preference, especially when eating the raw oysters. I usually really like raw oysters, but I found these ones were pretty briny and oceany, which I didn't love, although that could just be my personal preference. I did appreciate how the oysters were very large, so if you really like them, this is great for you. I was disappointed in the Caesar salad. It just felt kind of bland. I wish there was more dressing. Nothing really stood out about it. I did like the moqueca. That was definitely the best thing of the night. It had great flavor, and they were generous with the amount of seafood they gave you. If I were to come back, I would get that again and pass on the two other items I had. We love Taylor Shellfish and were excited to have their special Valentine's Day menu. Started with a good dirty martini and Holy Mountain Black beer-a little too earthy for my husband. Then 1/2 dz Virginia Totten oysters! So delicious! Next Dungeness Crab Cake- very disappointing. Both breading and crab tough and chewy. Scallop Crudo was fantastic! Black Cod was also really good with a wonderful crisp skin! Gnocchi we didn't like. Chewy and the teeny tiny "Manila" clams were also chewy. Sauce was good-all sauces were good. Have been attempting to try this spot for a while and finally made it happen! Their patio is almost never open even in summer and we have come by with our dog before to try but no dice. The food is really good though and we would definitely come back for more if their patio opened up more (we are usually walking our dog when in the area). The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in answering our questions about the food. The indoor ambiance is nice, though the tables are a little close together and I imagine it's lovely on the patio when it's nice out. The place was completely empty at 1pm on a Tuesday so we were able to be seated immediately. The food did not disappoint with the seafood being fresh and with good flavor. Roasted Brussel Sprouts - nicely cooked with good coating of balsamic sauce. Steamed mussels in garlic butter sauce - delicious and well cooked. I personally like the sauce a little thicker and richer. Geoduck crudo - fresh with an interesting red pepper sauce. The siphon was crunchy while the body was soft and chewy Caesar Salad - nicely dressed with fresh ingredients. I really liked the flavor and texture of the anchovies. All the good things we've heard about this place are true! I've been meaning to go here for a long time, as I am huge shellfish lover. We finally decided to go for lunch on my birthday, which is New Year's Eve. They were doing a "countdown to the new year" special where there was a special on a different item everyday. We were lucky that on NYE the special was on the Salish Sampler, $20 off the usual price. What a steal. Even without the discount I think the sampler is sooo worth it. It came with a dozen oysters (x2 of 6 different varieties), a whole Dungeness crab, 4 fat shrimp, marinated mussels, geoduck caviar, and two little spoons of caviar. We also opted to get the baguette which was HUGE and so worth it for dipping and pairing with the different sampler items. Oysters were fresh and delicious. It was so fun to try all the different ones which each had their own levels of sweetness, brine, and umami. I loved adding the hot sauce that it came with to my oysters. The crab, omg! Sooooo sweet and delicious. Like crazy sweet. The crab butter - WOW. Star of the platter honestly. I dipped everything in it, the crab itself, the shrimp, the bread, even the marinated mussels. Best bite of the day - I had my final crab leg dipped in crab butter with the caviar on top. Servers were very nice and helpful. Drinks were good. I have had wonderful experiences at a different location before, but I guess I was just not lucky on the day I visited this one. My friend and I came for the geoduck, but we stayed for some oysters. I really can't get enough of the geoduck, it is my favorite. It wasn't until later on in the night that I had the worst episode of food poisoning that I have ever experienced. I have never had food poisoning like this before, and will most likely be avoiding all oysters for the foreseeable future so that I can never have to experience that again. Came here with a friend before a concert over at Climate Pledge. It was around 6pm and the place was pretty busy. We were seated at a long table in the back, sitting across from each other, with two more parties of two that came in shortly after us. We decided on the Salish Sampler and two Geoduck chowders. The sampler was good, but way over priced--at market value it was over $140. The star of the show was the smoked oysters. The aioli sauce was sweet. The slaw was heavy on ginger and could have been balanced more nicely with a good amount of cilantro added to it. The chowder was mediocre. I did not feel or see any clams, basically potato soup. They also use julienned carrots in the soup--which is not my preference, but okay. I do not like that they only have a digital menu that you have to pull up on your phone. I also loathe businesses that tack on an automatic service charge "to pay their employees fairly". While the ambiance was chill and the place had a little charm to it--I did feel it was a bit cramped. It was difficult to eat comfortably. Not enough space on the table, especially to be sharing with other parties. This seating area would best be used for those just getting a few drinks and sharing an appetizer. There was nowhere to hang your coat except for a coat rack in the corner with who knows how many coats already on it. Maybe invest in some table stool with back so folks can hang their coats there. The perfect spot for a seafood lover -- stopped by this location right before the Kraken game for HH since it was walking distance from Climate Pledge, which ended up being a great decision. I've never been huge on oysters, but I loved the ones they have here -- very light, not too briny! HH is well-priced and I really loved whatever lavender cider they have on tap at the moment. For food, I loved literally everything we had but some of my standouts include: Crab Mac: SO. GOOD. The mac was flavorful and had a solid amount of crab meat, as well as delicious breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. Broiled Oysters: for folks that are picky about raw oysters, these are the gateway. The broiled cheese is so good and I would happily come back to eat this and only this. Smoked Oyster Dip: a smoky, complex flavor which is SO. FIRE. They were bigger than my favorites, but still tasty. I found the mignonette to be doing the bare minimum in that department. I saw the Louis salad could come with a half crab, and because I didn't want shrimp, asked if they could do that for Caesar, too. They did! Just not sure why that isn't reflected in the menu.
