When we walked in, the owner was sitting down and didn't approach us right away -- he only came over after a couple of minutes. For that price, I expected a richer matcha flavor, but it honestly just basic matcha powder from Costco. The taste was disappointing -- about 4/10. What's not to love? Open early great coffee and a shop with all kinds of interesting things from Turkey and that area around the Mediterranean. It's tucked away in one of the neighborhoods within Queen Anne that are always fun to go to and you appreciate the fact that there's a couple of stores on a block that you can walk to and make part of your neighborhood experience. I don't know what it is about this coffee, but it is so good! I usually order a caramel latte but have had their americanos as well and there's something about their coffee that tastes amazing! The cafe itself is in an area with plenty of free street parking and a 30 min spot right in front if you just want to grab and go. The cafe is full of little trinkets from Turkey (jewelry, pillows, etc.). It's also nice that it's rarely overcrowded and I can always find somewhere to sit. As far as coffee shops go, there are the pacific northwest coffee shops, and then there are the international coffee shops. This being the latter, Turkish. I wonder what you get, and what you do, is a perfect neighborhood shop. What they feature, is Turkish coffee... which is served unfiltered, with grounds, almost what you might call an espresso shot. Pro tip, don't drink the grounds, it's for fortune telling. Yes, it's not much in respect to volumes, but you drink to the end, then plant the cup upside down, wait 10 minutes, then read the tea leaves.. I mean coffee grounds. You can't do your own fortune, but there are plenty of websites out there to help you pretend to decipher. Back to the coffee, try the drip. No seriously, it's tasty, and weirdly yummy. On a grayish afternoon, feeling under the weather, Coffeemind is a lovely escape on the 10th Ave W retail strip on Queen Anne. This my first introduction to Turkish coffee...demi tasse with smooth ground dark coffee ( AZ with 1 tsp of sugar, ranges from none and up to 3 tsp). Let it settle per the personable barista/counterperson. Definitely a must to thoroughly savor. Comes with some water and a Turkish Delight bite. Soothing music, juxtaposed with shiny coffee ware, intricate ceramics, bright linens, pillows, and other home furnishings. Nice selection of baked goods. I can see hanging out here with a book or to write. In the time I was here, all tables but one filled up. Sometimes when slowing the pace down, one catches something new along the way. read more

I came here several times one week when I was staying with a friend who lived just a short walk from the coffeeshop. My friend had recommended it as a great place to pick up snacks/coffee, and to get some work done during the week. I tried a pretty wide range of items over the course of the week, including some Turkish items that I'd never tried before. My 1st visit, I got the Turkish black tea and the simit sandwich to stay. The tea was lovely, and served in a cute cup, and the simit sandwich was very hearty and filling. It was a bit too cheesy/greasy for me to get as more than just an occasional treat, but I was glad to have tried it and could see myself getting a craving for it every now and then. The simit bread itself was very crunchy and covered in sesame seeds, and was my favorite part of the sandwich. I'd definitely eat one of these alone, even without any filling. My 2nd visit, I got a chai tea latte and a cheese pocha. The cheese pocha was so scrumptious; if you like cheese, herbs, and pastry, this is the perfect snack. The chai tea latte was sweet and very tasty. My subsequent visits were all to-go; I also tried the mastic delight cookies (which come in threes), which were basically little cookies with pieces of Turkish delight in them. I had been curious about them since seeing them the 1st time I was in the shop, and they wound up being a lovely little snack. Another visit, I got a blueberry danish/pastry thing that huge but otherwise not too special; I think I'd stick to the more Turkish food items if I'm ever back in the area. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Most of my visits were in the mornings, when they weren't too busy, but one time I stopped by around 3 PM and they were a lot busier than I thought they'd be, and there was a bit more of a wait at the register. When I checked in on Yelp the 1st time, I got a $1 off any coffee or tea voucher; the cashier said he'd never seen 1 of these before and wasn't sure how to redeem it, but he was happy to ring my large chai tea latte as a small so I could get $1 off. There's a good number of tables/seats if you're there to work or to chat with friends, but the wi-fi was rather slow. In addition to coffee/tea/food, there's a small retail area of the coffeeshop where Turkish scarves/jewelry/other knick-knacks are on sale; these are super cute to browse when you're waiting for your order. They also sell a small selection of refrigerated food and drinks, including multiple varieties of kombucha. They have a punch card loyalty program. Overall, a super cute coffeehouse with a great atmosphere and some unique and tasty food options. Definitely stop by if you're in Queen Anne! read more

Quaint neighborhood coffee shop ambiance... cutest little store inside. I stop by there and end up buying something almost every time I visit Seattle once a quarter or so. We live in Portland. The store has very cute and readable priced gift items. And the cutest seasonal chachkis, Now why would I stop at this particular coffee shop in Seattle? Aside from the coffee being great.... They have a lemon/blueberry scone that is simply the most delicious scone I have ever had. I literally crave it. The owner is from Turkey so there are a few "Turkish delights" in the shop, including a delicious olive bialy, if you are an olive lover it is a must have. It's in the fridge and they will warm it up for you. Yes, they also have small bags of Turkish delights as a grab and go! Friendly baristas. Croissants, gluten-free chocolate chip cookies (which were surprisingly tasty). This neighborhood is full (I.e. spoiled with) phenomenal croissants, however. I was really hoping for some stellar baklava or something which I did not see. Maybe just the day I was there? I did get a free piece of Turkish delight with my coffee, and it all came on an adorable silver tray. Additionally they sell jewelry and those Turkish towels that everyone raves about. And handmade felt baby booties. Good service, cute spot. I'd definitely return for the coffee. Also: it was hard finding street parking nearby (11 am on a Sunday). I like this store! The coffee is excellent, carefully poured and presented. Coffeemind offers a rare, artisan small-batch roast that yields delightfully nutty and savory flavors with berry and anise notes. Retail offerings include local arts and interesting imports, jewelry, interior decor items and textiles, and whole beans by the pound. The missing star is for distracted service and uninteresting, phoned-in food offerings. The former is understandable; the store is often run by only one person, who is responsible for every aspect of operation including food prep and dishwashing while trying to help customers. Sign of the times: I get it. Small businesses have to keep expenses low. The food offerings are familiar and not very interesting. I sampled a scone; it was sconey. There were cookies and some sort of pastry that looked past it's prime. Some work could be done here in terms of presentation and selection, especially if you put a good day-old and/or charity donation program in place to offset the costs of potential wasted product. Still, this is a beautiful example of a great Seattle-style neighborhood cafe; clean, welcoming and offering unique and delicious coffee and fun retail shopping experiences. Recommended! read more
