My husband really likes this place. For me, it's "meh"! However, knowing that there are NOT many options for soulfood style of eating, I really try to make it work. My Experience: Their fried food is cooked ahead and sits and dries out in the steamer. It appears over fried. Salmon patties, are an unusual offering for a carryout buffet, and one of my favorites, but inconsistent in size. I saw a photo from 2023/2024 store opening with nice and big patties. I have never received patties any where close to that size! Also, can be over done. Turkey chops are fair but size is inconsistent and on the dry side. You need the specialty gravy they provide. I just don't feel excited about the meats available. One day, I will creep outside of my comfort zone and try other meats. I read a review that the pot roast is tasty. Their sides are usually satisfying. I need to explore a couple more options. I would rate this establishment as average. read more

My first visit the food was horrible. They first of all didn't have any fried chicken. It was a quarter to 1:00 in the afternoon the macaroni and cheese was dried out the greens taste gritty. The best soul food in Detroit. I visited twice while in town. The menu offers all the confort food favorites. The food is prepared and served cafeteria style where you select what you want from the steam table. They could turn up the steam table a little more so the food is warmer. The menu includes greens, beans, yams, black eyed peas, pork chops, turkey chops, chicken, macaroni & cheese, turkey and dressing and so much more. I recommend the fried fish. They offer whiting, catfish and perch cooked to order. The service was fast and friendly. You can dine in or take out. Orders are paced at the counter and you pick up your meal at the counter. They have tall tables and booths inside. The desserts are equally good. We tried the sweet potato pie, strawberry cake and banana pudding. The banana pudding was very sweet but the pita or pie was excellent. The inside is clean and spacious. The parking lot is spacious and handicap accessible. The price was good for the amount of food you receive. I recommend if you are in the mode for a nice southern comfort food meal. read more

Did you work late and not have time to cook, well stop by and pick up a fresh southern meal. Service is quick and efficient, you will get enough for two meals, well for me it's two meals! They have the best fried turkey chops and their sweet potatoes/yams are just right. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose for a meal. You can eat there and watch tv or grab and go! There's only room for about 6-8 people to dine, most people get their meals to go. Next time I go I will have to take pictures of our food. read more

Horrific......placed a delivery order two hours in advance. When the driver gets to the restaurant they have nothing that I asked for. I had to get something for my child that she normally does not eat. Called the restaurant to come to a resolution and I guess my number came up on the called I.D and the had the audacity to hang up and then blocked me. I ordered a large order of yams $6.25, large mac n cheese $7.25 and a large collard greens $6.50...had I seen the cups that they were filling I would have told them to keep it and give me back my money! Finally was able to stop in while passing through area...the food was good! We has turkey chops, mac&cheese, black eyed peas, dressing & yams. There were a good amount of options to choose from and the staff was friendly. There is no wait staff, the service is cafeteria line style but there is ample seating if you desire to sit and dine in. I wish the seating area was a bit nicer, more upscale and inviting. Just because it's Soul Food the appearance and ambiance shouldn't be boxed in -dining area FEELS very fast-food. Mr B's new location 30369 Cherry Hill corner of Henry Ruff just opened a few weeks ago. They have 2 other locations in Detroit City. Totally a marvelous experience with dining room and restrooms spotless clean. It's a walk up window you order and they call yo order number out , really fast like 5 minutes. She had fantastic Southern Chicken Breasts w Collared Greens and Mac, tender juicy perfection . Me Salmon Croquettes with Black Eye Peas and Sweet Taters a Cornbread Muffin OMG delicious . While eating inside a hundred orders went out on a Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to trying much more of the menu really soon . Where do I start... if I could leave a half star rating, I would. First off I came to this restaurant happy and excited to order a souls food dinner.. oxtails is what I ordered. Oxtails are VERY expensive. So I don't mind paying for this diligent piece of meat when cooked right. First off the young lady at the register is very rude. Just had a attitude ... but maybe she didn't have a good day. I asked if they had oxtails and she told me they had oxtails in the back and was cooked to order. Huh?? How do you cook oxtails to order?? So I was like, maybe they were cooked yesterday and froze the left overs. Ok not thinking they were store bought packaged frozen oxtails ... gross!!! They literally gave me microwave oxtails with a can of poured beef gravy on top. I was given about 5 small pieces of oxtails AND they were VERY tough. IM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I SWEAR NO SEASONING, no onions nothing, but a can of gravy poured on top??? The Mac n cheese was old and dried out, so I did ask her if she had more Mac n cheese in the back that was fresh and the lady rudely responded, we serve what's out here before bringing out more from the back. If I didn't live in Canton, I would have drove this plate back to the restaurant and request for my 30$ back. This is why it's hard to support black businesses. I called to speak with them about catering my mother's birthday party/family reunion, to be held in May 2024. The lady on the phone, told me that it's January and to call a week before the event to order the food. I told her that I was planning a dinner for 70+ people and I needed to plan sooner, as I don't live there. I then requested to speak with the manager. The manager never got on the phone and she reiterated to call a week before the event. I told her that I plan things ahead of time and she hung up the phone on me in mid sentence. I called back and asked, her if she intentionally hung up the phone and why wouldn't the manager get on the phone. She then lied and said that the manager was in a meeting. Any body with a business acumen would've taken my name and number and called me back, after all, I'm calling to spend at least $2,000. I informed her that even when I come home to Inkster, because of how I was treated on the phone, I wouldn't come there to eat! She hung up the phone again! This is so indicative of the poor service available there!
