Great selection and knowledgeable staff. Sometimes overhearing interesting music conversations between staff and customers adds a nice bonus to my search for cds

Big Eric Clapton fan and these are great finds

Moved out of New York 3 years ago but remembered this place from a while back. Had to visit Long Island last weekend and thought I would see if Mr Cheapo's was still there. I was in for a treat, found some DVD's and CD's I was really looking for and it helped make my trip even better. Well organized, well stocked, and just a terrific shopping experience. I will Deffinitly return here whenever I am back in NY. Now I am hoping its soon.

    Receipt and 45s i purchased.

The Mineola location is ok, and well stocked, but the staff isn't as cool as Commack.

I work for a small mom n pop music store, so I really appreciate the small businesses around Long Island.

I recently started coming here frequently because my son fell in love with this store after he…read morediscovered it about a month ago when we were at the mall. We came here 4 times now and I always end up spending a fortune. They have tons of Manga (comics/ graphic novels originated from Japan), Squishmallows, Funko Pop! as well as CDs, vinyls, clothing, collectibles, gifts and other comics + books. I'd say it's a pretty cool, interesting store for both adults and kids but also very pricey. Just realized, comics are not cheap. If you're a fan, then I guess it's worth it. He always picks out about 3 to 4 Manga every time, which ranges from $10-$20 each and some plushes & keychains. The Squishmallow keychains are $13, medium & large sized Squishmallow plushes ranges from $20-$60. Some are extremely overpriced due to the levels of rarity. The blue penguin I just bought today that my daughter really wanted retails for $15, their selling it for $36. Overall, still a good store to check out and the staff are helpful. Fyi (9/11): their currently having a buy 1 get 1 50% off all Manga and graphic novels deal.

The second one I didn't even open because I didn't even want to see or try the record after I realized that the cover and spine is absolutely wrecked and crushed. Comic selection is also pretty disappointing compared to the OG in Boston. Save yourself the time and money and go to an independent record or comic store.

On an annual trip to NYC, I decided I would visit bookstores and take in all I could. B&B was right…read moreby my hotel, and I was delighted to find a comfortable room full of baseball memorabilia and a great variety. They specialize in 19th and 20th century English and American literature, which means you're going to see a lot of titles you're familiar with. I stopped in late in their day, so I wasn't surprised to be the only one there, but the team gave me space, answered very basic questions I had, and - gasp - LET ME TOUCH THE BOOKS. This is far from a stuffy environment, and when I finally convince my partner that I need that very expensive piece that has F. Scott Fitzgerald's music for Princeton, I know exactly where I'll go.

5 minutes before B&B books was closing, I buzzed the room located on the third floor to see if they…read morewould let me in "just to look." Well, 45 minutes later, I was still oohing and awing at the marvelous selection of first edition books they have to offer. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

Let me get this quickly out of the way. I do not read comic books nor am I a collector. I came…read morehere because I met a participant in their charitable cause the prior day and wanted to support the effort. This store is about one mile from my house and I had never been here before, even though they have been here over 20 years. This was their annual charitable event. I was greeted the door by Storm Troopers and Darth Vader. It was obvious that they have the right formula here. The small shop is PACKED with comic books and memorabilia. This is clearly the home base for comic book collectors and aficionados. I was here to see one of the artists drawing and support their charitable cause. I always find it amazing to watch an artist go from pen-paint-pencil to paper. Amazing talent. I had the opportunity to meet a cmic book author. We had an amazing conversation that was capped off by determining we went to elementary school together in Queens. It's always a small world. The owner is a wonderful man who is dedicated to his passion and charity work. I am looking forward to next years show and will look to possibly partner with them in my own charitable events. The staff here is wonderful and truly passionate to their hobby. KUDOs to the team here at Grasshopper's Comics
