I recently started coming here frequently because my son fell in love with this store after he discovered it about a month ago when we were at the mall. We came here 4 times now and I always end up spending a fortune. They have tons of Manga (comics/ graphic novels originated from Japan), Squishmallows, Funko Pop! as well as CDs, vinyls, clothing, collectibles, gifts and other comics + books. I'd say it's a pretty cool, interesting store for both adults and kids but also very pricey. Just realized, comics are not cheap. If you're a fan, then I guess it's worth it. He always picks out about 3 to 4 Manga every time, which ranges from $10-$20 each and some plushes & keychains. The Squishmallow keychains are $13, medium & large sized Squishmallow plushes ranges from $20-$60. Some are extremely overpriced due to the levels of rarity. The blue penguin I just bought today that my daughter really wanted retails for $15, their selling it for $36. Overall, still a good store to check out and the staff are helpful. Bought 2 different records on different occasions, one came with thousands of skips that make sure you can't listen to even one song without at least 3 skips. The second one I didn't even open because I didn't even want to see or try the record after I realized that the cover and spine is absolutely wrecked and crushed. Comic selection is also pretty disappointing compared to the OG in Boston. Save yourself the time and money and go to an independent record or comic store. read more

Came here to check out what they had. To see if this would be my new comicbook spot. It's a pretty cool place. Didn't have as many comics as I thought it would. So definitely keep you accounts wherever you usually get them. I'd consider this place to be a really cool novelty store. Things are overpriced. Not surprising since it's in the mall. But it's all good. I still like the place for everything else. I could spend so much money in there for no good reason! They had a cool pop toy wall. Everything was well organized and upkept. The thing that surprised me was all the cool records they had. Like i said, I'd spend so much there. I do recommend coming here if you have the time and/or the money. Pretty neat comic store with a variety of cool toys and junk for you nerds and geeks. I took a walk around the store and noticed some cool vinyls, shirts, pins, comics/manga, and a really massive wall filled with a load of POP! By Funko figurines. There was a buy 1, get 1 50% off deal when I went. I'm not sure if this is something they always have, but even with the deal.. it's either on par or slightly more expensive than Amazon prices. But like I said, there's a lot of variety here and you may find some rare ones. I picked up the white and green power rangers :) read more

Newbury is a good addition to the mall. It's hipsterish. Young. Vibrant. It attracts a playful audience. The mall has always had the "hangout" vibe for a younger crowd and this is a decent place to hangout. They have Vinyl Records, Comics, pop collectors and complete teen randomness. But.... It's not that great of a comic book store. Only a few of the staff are avid readers so most cannot answer your questions. They don't really do extensive back issues. I think they hold no more than 4-6 issues behind. They usually have great sales on trades and they hold alot of manga. It's a good store for character and current trend fanatics. This is a cute geek store out in Roosevelt Field. Besides comics they do have a lot of other geek stuff like Nintendo, Pusheen, Star Wars, etc. Basically a geek lover's paradise. My friend bought the fat Zelda art book at full price here. They also had Squishable stuffed animals too. read more

I eagerly anticipated the opening of Newbury Comics for a few weeks; noticed it one weekend while I had to make a stop at the Apple store and made a mental note to check it out as soon as it opened. I was especially thrilled since my favorite store in the mall, FYE, got the boot last Spring, and Newbury appeared as though it would fill the void. Made it into Newbury Comics on its grand opening weekend; all bright, shiny and new merchandise. Everything was organized into themed categories, whether it be Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, etc. They do have a slightly smaller section of Funko PoP's than FYE or Hot Topic. However, what I really like about their PoP selection is that unlike the other mall stores, where they might have 20 each of the same PoP and the selection always seemed to be the same; Newbury might have 4 or 5 of the same PoP out on the floor, but a better variety. Also, they will carry some rare exclusive PoPs that are only available in smaller specialty comic book stores. Sweet! They also carry some Funko Dorbz and other collectibles (ok, toys) as well. Now, speaking of comics, they have a good selection of all the popular new releases and a couple of the back issues, but they do not have a huge selection of older comics or graphic novels. Someplace like Midtown Comics, or even Barnes & Noble, dwarfs their selection of graphic novels. Their music section is quite small compared to FYE, and they seem to cater more to the vinly collector than the CD collector. The DVD/Blu Ray section is even less populated. So I wouldn't count on this place so much for music or movies, is what I'm saying. No biggie, there are plenty of other options for those. Newbury also has a huge selection of t-shirts & novelty socks, mugs, and all those other things you seem to always want when you see them, which is another plus. Their customer service is outstanding, and all the employees are friendly & eager to help; as Siskel and Ebert would say " Two Thumbs Up". To say the least, yeah I'm a fan. read more

New entertainment collectibles/memorabilia store opened on the ashes of FYE on the ground floor of Roosevelt Field mall. Nothing really new except the addition of comics to the inventory, but really many of the same toys, books, music, movies and collectibles as the previous FYE store with less emphasis on music CD's and movie DVD's. Even the comics selection is not as extensive as a dedicated collector's comics store. They are trendy, however, trying to capitalize on the Pokemon Go craze, putting their Pokemon merchandise front and center. Maybe they should pop a lure on the doorstep to get some customers in here? read more

One star because I really like the store but I felt very uncomfortable. I visited today with my mom and our service pug. My mom survived cancer and so we take her service dog everywhere. Anyways while we were shopping we had him in a stroller because it was hot and he's a VERY SENSITIVE breed. But the worker (short with brassy blonde hair) here was making faces and talking with other customers or employees about how people take advantage about the whole service animal thing and kept pointing fingers and what not. We had his papers and license so they could've just asked us to see them instead of talking crap out loud. read more

I've been here twice already and can I just say, yessssss. I went before the grand opening, totally stumbling on this store without knowing anything about it, and then came back for its grand opening, which they delivered immensely on. I was one of the first people on line and received an amazing goodie bag. Several vinyls, a bunch of CDs, a Beatles mug, shirts, a comic, a tote bag and some other goodies. I checked out also with a couple shirts of my own, a vinyl that I had never seen before and a Pop figure, capitalizing on their grand opening 20% off deal. I didn't splurge too much because I happen to have a birthday coming up and directed my friends and family to go here for my presents. What I love about this store is that it marries nerds of all backgrounds. Comic nerd? Yeah, you're covered. Vinyl nerd, you too. GoT, latest trends like the Pokemon Go craze, silly cookbooks, etc. This store is a haven. And it's a great stop to pick up a gift for anyone. The staff is super friendly, and just excited? But who can blame them. They are surrounded by fun stuff and shoppers who are just as excited to be there. read more

This location of Newbury Comics is decent but isn't the best. Their selection of funko pops, plush and comics are all great as they do appear to be switching new items in. The only problem came in a manager that felt the need to micro manage everything we did inside and outside the store (even though there shouldn't have been an issue) . This employee definitely had an attitude issue and didn't really give an impression of their store being welcoming. Hopefully things get better though. read more

My FAVORITE store in the mall, mostly because I can geek out on everything from comics to vinyls. This is also a GREAT store to shop for gifts! The selection of POP vinyl characters and vinyl records are impressive. There's also a ton of tees and accessories with your favorite shows printed on them. My experience was really good, ever since I discovered it coming to the mall. My daughter fell in love with the K-POP isle in the store. But she was really disappointed when she found out they didn't have her favorite group's light stick, TOMORROW X TOGETHER I suppose it is. That's her all-time favorite part of the store. K-POP is one of her top priorities and, I would really appreciate if you added TOMORROW X TOGETHER light sticks in the store. It will be a help to her, when she goes to the concert upcoming in July. The store is a very good one, but it could be better if you added more stuff to the stock. read more

Disappointed in todays visit. Clerk saw me and never even acknowledged me. Just kept moving funko stock off wall. Had to ask another associate what i was looking for. Most of the action figures what little they had were moved to small corner in back. Most items were beat up in bad shape. Usually have better toys-action figures not todaus visit in this store. Every time I go to Roosevelt Field Mall I have to go to Newbury Comics. I love the store and the staff are all extremely nice, friendly, and helpful!! I always love going in and looking at their vast selection of records and I find their exclusive pressings to be awesome c: The comic section is more focused on the newer series and storyarches, but they have a nice selection of graphic novels to catch up on some of the greats of the past. As CD retailers are slowly fading from shopping centers, it was refreshing to see such an extensive selection as well as such a nice variety. Also, if comics and records aren't for you, they have a ton of movie, tv show, and designer apparel to browse. read more

As an all-around geek who has actually been to the original Newbury Comics in Boston, I found the location in Roosevelt Field Mall to be a complete joke. It's basically a cross between Hot Topic and Spencer's - only carrying "trendy" items. Their collection of comics is completely unsatisfactory, disappointed to see they carried more records. Staff was not knowledgeable and unhelpful, the first two employees I spoke to have never even heard of Dungeons & Dragons. All elitists will have better luck finding what they're looking for at the Barnes & Noble across the street. read more

I walked in to get my sister in law a birthday present and found the 3 Pop figures I needed and brought it to the register. The young lady there pleasantly told me there BOGO 1/2 and so I went back to get a fourth. I saw a small ladder with no visible sign and I figured it was a situation like a clothing store where they leave the tall hangers out so that customers can get to the clothes at the top. I grabbed it in order to get the item I wanted and half across the store and a woman screamed at the top of her lungs "IF YOU WANT SOMETHING FROM THE TOP YOU NEED TO ASK!" And proceeds to roughly shove in my face a small 1/2inch piece of paper that was taped to the ladder. Literally that was her proof for getting so upset. This tiny piece of paper that a customer is supposed to see. I tell her Im sorry I didnt see it and didnt see anyone around to assist and figured that it was a get-it-yourself situation. She proceeds to continue to yell at me about how its a liability, which I fully understand. What I dont understand is why her reaction was that way. I was actively trying to de-escalate her response and she just kept yelling. I took the Pop figure from her and went back to the register as I obviously still needed to purchase these items. After I bought them, I went back to her. I asked her if she thought yelling half way across the store was an appropriate reaction and who her manager was. She said she did feel it was an appropriate reaction and would not tell me who her manager was (everyone answers to someone, so unless Naomi owns Newbury comics Im sure she reports to someone). I honestly told her I wasnt trying to upset anyone and that I didnt see the cut up post-it note. Didnt seem to matter as she would not even acknowledge the fact that she did handle this whole thing poorly. This is not someone who should be in management or retail as it appears she is not equipt to handle the job if her first reaction is to yell at a paying customer. Reactions like this can cause damage to a business and should not in any way be acceptable. I have worked retail before and in my life have never seen someone like this last at their job and I think it would be in the best interest of Newbury Comics to review her employment in the company. read more

Amazing store, the staff was so awesome and down to earth and eager to help you find whatever you need. It's so well put together and fun to just look around.
