When it comes to computers, I am my own worst enemy. I tried to clear a full C drive with no success. I took my "baby" to Mr. C. He explained that it was not a memory issue but malware! He fixed the C drive (got rid of all the malware), and actually took the time to sit down with me to explain how not to invite more malware in. He's a truly nice guy. I called Greg and inquired about a battery replacement for my iPhone 5, he said he was able to do it the same day. I arrived and it took about 15 minutes for him to swap out the batteries, he did it for a great price (Far less than what Apple wanted). He also told me that I may be overcharging my battery (DO NOT LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN OVERNIGHT). On my way home I noticed that my screen had a few squares on the top of the screen. I told Greg about my situation and instead of making accusations he genuinely cared about my issue. I tried to take screen shots of the issue to no avail, I sent him links to forums about similar issues. He was perplexed. He told me to restore the phone and see what happens from there. We scheduled another appointment to reset the screen, camera, and battery if need be. I was able to look up a few things online in regards to my issue. I tried those and the issue has not come back. I told Greg that the issue was resolved, he told me not to hesitate to contact him if the issue arises again. Greg runs an honest business and he genuinely cares about the work he does. Greg rocks. He unlocked my iPhone 5 so I could use it while traveling out of the US. This is no ordinary unlock - it sets up the phone as if it were purchased unlocked from the factory. That means it's permanent in the hardware; not a software jailbreak that has to be re-done with every new iOS upgrade. I slipped in a new SIM card in Hong Kong and, hey presto, I was in business! NOTE: you might want to buy a nano sim card cutter, in case you have to cut a regular/micro sim down to size. Not all providers have nano-sim cards, especially pre-paid. Not only is Greg a total pro, he also explains exactly what's happening the entire way through. For iPhone unlocking, you don't have to visit in person. Just call him, give him your iPhone's IMEI number and payment. In 24hours he will notify you that the unlock has occurred and your last step is to Restore the phone on iTunes. read more

I just picked up my HP from Mr. Computer. The power cord mechanism broke and had to be replaced. Not only did he replace the mechanism, he ran a scan on my computer, updated old software and installed a free anti virus system as I had let me paid subscription expire. Way over the top service! I contacted them twice by phone with a question about a cracked screen on my macbook air. Twice I was told that they would call me back because they were on a conference call, and they never called me back. I next tried email and also got no response. My 2.5 yr old PC wasn't booting up properly and I thought I had a virus, despite having a virus protector. I brought it to Mr. Computer (Greg) who is a former IT professional at Dell to have a look at it, and he said my hard drive was corrupted. Not only did he give me a new hard drive but he updated my computer to Windows 10 (for free) and this was after the free trial period had expired (I wanted to stay with Windows 7 but he said moving to Windows 10 would keep my computer updated and better protected. He also gave me a free trial version of a much better virus protector than Webroot. When I went home I found out my WD external hard drive, which had over 300 GB of data on it, would not open under Windows 10 (I subsequently I found out this is a common problem when changing operating systems) and I had to take it back to Greg several days later to get rid of all the permissions from my external hard drive (after I spent over 10 hours over a two day period trying to do it myself). Greg was able to unlock my hard drive and remove all the permissions in less than 15 minutes. My bill was about $230 for all the work he did to put in a new internal hard drive, update my operating system, and unlock my external hard drive, but the thought of losing 20 years worth of data was even more terrifying and soul destroying. In summary, I highly recommend Mr Computer (Greg) for all my computer repairs. I had also called around before picking Greg to repair my computer and found out cost the cost of what he did was comparable to several other computer repair shops in South Austin. FYI, the shop is on the second floor a a little retail building (which is a pain if you you have a desktop). You also need to call Greg ahead of time and make an appointment to meet with him since he's often out of his shop doing home installations. read more

We travel quite a bit and have a tendency to pick up viruses and malware. We spent $250 at another shop and our computer still wasn't usable. Greg diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 24 hours for less than half the cost of the original "repair." In addition to fixing the computer, Greg recommended a better antivirus software.
