Armando's Mexican restaurant | St.George, Sc…read more 5792 County Rd S-18-200, St George, SC 29477 Armando's Mexican Restaurant - St. George, SC Review 3.7 out of 5 stars If you find yourself rolling through St. George, South Carolina and your stomach starts making executive decisions for you, Armando's Mexican Restaurant is probably going to pop up on your radar. And honestly? It's a bit of a mixed bag -- like a taco that's mostly good but missing that one key ingredient. The Good Stuff First off, the staff? Solid. Friendly, attentive, and quick on their feet -- the kind of service where your drink gets refilled before you even realize it's empty. That alone scores points. Food comes out fairly quick too, which is always a win when you're hungry enough to consider eating the chips basket itself. Pricing is also very reasonable. Around $15 per person, which in today's economy feels like you just got away with something. Decor? Let's call it "classic." Not bad, not great -- just kind of there doing its job. The Not-So-Good Now... let's talk about the salsa. This wasn't your typical Mexican restaurant salsa. This was... something else. It had a strong marinara vibe -- like it got lost on the way to an Italian restaurant and just decided to stay. Chips deserved better. The restaurant itself is showing its age a bit. "Dated" is the polite way to put it -- like stepping into a time capsule that hasn't been updated since flip phones were king. Bathrooms? Yeah... we're not writing home about those. And parking? Tight. Limited. A little rough around the edges -- literally. Think potholes and wear that's seen better days. Final Verdict Armando's isn't trying to be fancy -- and that's okay. It delivers on quick service, friendly staff, and affordable meals. But it definitely has some areas that could use attention (starting with that identity-crisis salsa). If you're in the area and want a quick, budget-friendly bite, it'll do the job. Just maybe don't go in expecting a life-changing Mexican food experience. 3.7 out of 5 Good service, fair prices... questionable salsa decisions.

The server was super nice, his accent was thick but he was patient with us. Our food was great. I order Carnes azandas and the steak was perfection. The flavor was on point. Id be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in not getting the grilled jalapeno. We also ordered a margaritas flight. Each were amazing. I will continue to recommend this place.

Although I don't remember the bartender's name, he was such a cool guy and did a great job of introducing me to the restaurant. I got a margarita to drink, which was a little more expensive than most other margaritas I've gotten, but the quality easily made up for the price. To eat, I simply got three (3) cheese quesadillas, as the rest of the menu was a little too complicated for me. Although they're a simple dish, they were still really good! As for the ambiance, Coa was also a really cool, upscale, and atypical Mexican place! I think it nailed the vibe it was going for, and there are few, if any, comparable places in the surrounding area (that I've been to at least!) Overall, Coa was an awesome upscale Mexican restaurant. I loved stopping in, and I will be back in the future. As such, I'd recommend it to anybody looking for the same vibe!

We ordered 3 small plates and the octopus. 2 of the small plates came out and were each missing a component that was on menu description. The tamale was a dry very benign item, that was needing some type of accompaniment. If you are looking for small portions at high prices, this is your place. The 3 small plates and the octopus with an ice tea and a coke was a little over $100 with tip. Columbia is severely lacking an upscale Mexican dinner option and unfortunately Coa continues the trend.
