I keep coming here because the food, staff, and ambience are amazing. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They were knowledgeable about their menu items and had great recommendations. The location is always clean. There is a bar with a variety of drinks. I got some Agua de Jamaica, and it was very tasty. I had their enchilada plate, which was made fresh. It was good, but not pictured is a plate of Tacos Dorados de Pollo, and I wish I could have eaten those first because by the time I got to them I was too full to keep eating them but the taste was so delicious. Tacos are always good, and their burritos are delicious. I'm updating the pictures because pricing has gone up a little and the menu appears to be a little more expanded. Recently, I had the chance to eat at Casa Oaxaca with my family; we had an good time. Casa Oaxaca is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant with a bar, and is located in a shopping center in West Columbia; they offer dine in or you can pick up your food.  The restaurant has fantastic decor and they also have Mexican music playing in the restaurant. The place was also clean. The prices are affordable and reasonable. When you sit down your waiter gives you all different kinds of salsa to use, which is really nice and chips for you to eat at are at no extra charge. I order the chicken fajitas for 2 and the rest of my family order the same thing as well.  Some of the issues I had tonight were that our waiter didn't come to the table a lot and it was hard to find them when we needed him. Also our dinner took a long time, about 45 min, which to me is a long time. The fajitas came with a ton of chicken which was nice. The sides were sour cream, lettuce, beans, and one tomato. The fajitas don't come with rice unless you get the more expensive ones, which at every other Mexican restaurant I have been to they served rice with fajitas. It was nice to try a new place tonight, but I am not sure if I will come back though. read more

I love soup and thought I would try this, but I didn't like it. The is just broth, shrimp, & fish. No vegetables, no rice. It was boring! SHRIMP Now, I am biased, I think because I don't like whole, head on, in the shell shrimp in a soup because it's really messy to peel them and put them back in. But they were large and there were about 8 of the in the soup. THE FISH. There were 2 large pieces of bone in Tilapia steaks that had been fried before dropping them in the soup. I like bone bone in fish, but the soup defeats the purpose of frying that skin. I did my best to debone the fish and put the meat back in. But then it was still just meat and broth. So I ended up asking for a side of rice and added that. That improved the soup greatly, but while I ended up taking most of it back home, I will probably throw it out. Adding the fish back in jus made it too fishy for me. I'll stick with my favorite chicken soup, because that's amazing! read more

Tried to eat at Ruby Tuesdays... server ghosted me so I walked out and found Casa Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant nearby. What a wonderful find. I asked my server for a recommendation and she suggested her favorite... some big meaty sandwich. It was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Casa Oaxaca is a post roller derby practice tradition in my family. It's my 12 year old derby playing Daughter's favorite place in town. She gets the Tacos Supremas. I alternate between the Carne Asada and Chorizo Tacos. All very delicious. You really can't go wrong with any of the tacos. Oddly, my favorite thing there is free, this place has the best chips and salsa in Columbia and it's not close. Extremely fresh tomato salsa with onion, garlic, cilantro and lime served with warm chips. The restaurant is plan and in a strip mall that's being remodeled. Don't let the ambiance fool you, the food is really great and the menu is really impressive. All the servers we've had have been great. My one complaint is it's closed on Wednesdays but I understand they want to take a night off. This place is a hidden gem in West Columbia. read more

Scammy little place. Saw the happy hour online and called to confirm that it was available. Was in town with friends and we stopped by midweek at 5pm. We were told happy hour was available until 7. We were offered menus which matched the ones shown on yelp. We ordered from the happy hour menu. The server took our order, then told us there was no happy hour when we asked about one of the margaritas. We were confused, because we had been told over the phone that happy hour was 4-7. We could see it on the menu. The server just looked blankly and said "there's a new manager. No prices yet. The menu prices are not correct." The server was impatient and didn't make much effort to be polite. Didn't even offer to check the prices on the drinks we wanted. We decided to go forward with it because the order was already placed and we had taken an Uber to get here. The margaritas were not very good. Honestly. Weak, Overly sweet, mostly a lot of ice. And a lot of salt. We were never even asked if we wanted salt. Tacos were good. Salsa was very good. When the checks arrived, what used to be a $6 margarita was apparently $13.50. And there were a lot of extra fees for everything. Felt like a scam. Too bad a place with decent food had such abysmal service, a menu with all incorrect prices, and mediocre drinks on top of it all. Bottom line: do not recommend. At all. Hard pass. 2 stars because of the variety of spicy salsas available. read more

This is probably the best Mexican food I've had since I left Las Vegas. Just a little place in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. My only complaints are they don't have ice tea or Dr. Pepper. I also prefer cholula hot sauce. I will be a regular at this place!!! read more

We went here for the first time a few weeks ago to order takeout for our family of 5. The food was great! My only complaint is customer service wasn't that great and they forgot my daughters two tacos. If it wasn't so late, I would've went back up there and let them know, but they already acted like it was an inconvenience because we ordered quite a bit of food and a few changes to our food due to allergies. Excellent lunch while traveling from FL to Asheville, NC. Yelp once again didn't let me down. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. They stay full...not crazy busy but steady. The food was hot and fresh. I had the quesadilla and my husband had the namesake burrito. I can't remember the name of it. The food here is really good, but I wanted to point out an issue I had when trying to order for pickup over the phone. The girl seemed very inattentive when I spoke my order, when I asked for her to repeat it back to me to verify she had it written down correctly she was unresponsive. I asked her again politely to repeat it back to me, again I was greeted with silence and then the phone connection ended. I called back immediately, and had to tell her who I was again as she acted like I didn't just call to try to place an order. I repeated my order slowly and clearly, then asked if she could repeat it back. Again she was very unresponsive and I asked her once again if she could repeat my order back to me. Once again silence and she hung up on me again. I don't know if she was just rude, incompetent or both, but I've never had such trouble trying to place an order over the phone; good luck if you try. read more

We decided to try Casa Oaxaca based on reviews and a friend's recommendation. The place is clean and the service is attentive and friendly. The kid's menu is good. Our girls found things they'd eat. My wife and I had the chimichanga meal. I had beef; she had chicken. It was good. The food seemed fresh. How does it compare to Real Mexico? It is not as salty as RM, which is good. But it lacked a little something I can't quite articulate. Here's the thing... it is a parking lot away from Taqueria El Jarocho, a great food truck with amazing tacos. Casa Oaxaca has some stiff competition. But we will give it another try. No doubt. read more

The restaurant is hidden in a strip mall on US Rt 1 in West Columbia, behind Sonic and Starbucks for reference. There are other places to eat there as well. We placed out order over the phone with no look at a menu,simply asked if we could order - ground beef tacos and chicken tacos. We then provided the toppings we wanted on the tacos, shell type as well as ordering a side of bean, and chips with salsa. We picked up our order quickly, it was ready when we arrived. WOW, the good was still hot when we arrived home and fresh which was the first wow! All too often the foods are half cold, not fresh or incorrectly prepared. Everything thing we ordered was present - and correctly prepared. Awesome. Now for the taste. Delicious! Sold on the food right here with the first bite after the visual. Getting fresh properly prepared food seems to be hard to find but Casa Oxana nailed the food! The tacos were as ordered with proper toppings and meat choices! The shells were warm and soft as they should be. The taste when you bit into the taco provided you a full bite with proper amount of filling. No skimping on the fillings here. Impressive and in addition they provided pico for us as well to add on our tacos. I do want to add that the young lady taking orders was polite and seemed attentive, which she was to get the order proper. When we arrived the restaurant was clean and neatly decorated. When traveling, I want a restaurant that is authentic and locally owned and Casa Oaxaca is true Auténtica Comida Mexicana! The Molcajete Oaxaca is as authentic as it gets!!!! Well cooked and seasoned beef steak, chorizo, spicy pork, nopales, charred jalapeño pepper, in house special salsa, Oaxaca Cheese, generous portion of sliced avocado, beans and rice then topped off with in house made corn tortillas!!! An hour after receiving this masterpiece and the bottom of the iron bowl was still mouth watering hot! Enough for 2 but I didn't as it will be my lunch tomorrow! Not easy to find and from the outside, a place you'd quickly dismiss.... abet your loss as this is now my favorite Mexican restaurant in South Carolina! Came around 9 pm and wasn't sure how the food would be that late but it came out fresh and delicious! It was my first time. I ordered a chorizo taco, pastor taco and carne asada tack. They were all equally tasty, I was pleasantly surprised. I saw they have good happy hour with 2$ margaritas. Also ordered beans and rice on the side, it was good but not anything out of the ordinary for Mexican food. The salsa that came with the chips was very good and when the tacos were delivered they had a bottle of homemade salsa verde to go along. I will definitely be back and will be bringing friends. I'm from out of town, Houston Tx, and I found this location to be as authentic as can be! Great job sticking to the roots!! It has great Tex-Mex food choices But their pride and joy definitely Mexican food. I was upset they didn't have red enchiladas which is what I typically get. Casa Oaxaca sure made up for it with their sizzling fajitas!!!! I posted a video of it. Great flavor and large portions. Come hungry! This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have visited in Columbia. The place is clean, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious! I had tacos al Pastor "Omg!" So fresh, so flavorful, so tender! Just the best! I also have the beef quesadilla, and it was terrific. Beans and cheese were tasty and fresh (I can tell when been are old); the quesadilla was very flavorful and not dry.
