The muzak music was too loud just as it was our previous visit here a couple years ago. Order of 3 rolled tacos was good. Several salsa accompanied them. Love having salsa options. Cheese enchiladas combo dinner not so good. The thing is -- everything (rice / beans / cheese inside the tortilla, bag of tortilla chips) was good, but the red enchilada sauce wasn't good. The red sauce is the heart of the meal, isn't it? This sauce had a bitter bite to it that even sour cream didn't mitigate. So, thumbs down on the cheese enchiladas. Sprinkings of cotijo cheese (I think) on pretty much everything, which is probably a good thing. Made the meals look nice, all in all. Needs Improvement: Red enchilada sauce as mentioned above. Less bitter, please. Reduce plastic / paper waste: Our two orders -- dine in orders -- came on an actual dinner plate situated on (2) 12" x 12" sheets of paper (function as a placement? not sure why it was there) atop a metal tray. Chips were served in a paper bag and we got 6 single serving plastic container of condiments. These usages of paper and plastic represent nice touches as far as serving goes -- lets us customize our choices and have a tidy meal. But that's just a lot of paper and plastic waste for 2 meals. Cost is probably not inconsequential (adds to meal cost which wasn't outrageous but not cheap, either) and it's just more stuff that goes to the landfill kind of unnecessarily. I probably would lean toward dropping the sheets and switching single serve paper cups for the plastic. Or maybe do a salsa bar and skip the single servings. Bottom Line -- we'll probably be back next trip to Yuma and try something different (maybe tacos or a burrito, definitely something with beans and rice) but if I lived there it wouldn't be my go-to Mexican food joint. read more

Mr. G's has once again proven to be the bottom of the barrel type of vendor. We ordered food online Sunday (4/5/26) with Mr. G.'s, per Google it was open. We go over there to pick up, it's closed. Easter Sunday. Totally forgot. There's zero way to cancel or even make contact so we figure we'll deal with this Monday. No big deal right? Monday (4/6/26) gets here and we forget about the food order and go about life. I guess Mr. G.'s phone number shows up under an unexpected title so we didn't know that's who called us around 11am. We tried to call and even message the number, no response to either attempt. 7pm, (4/6/26) my daughter goes to see if we can get fresh food and pay any overage to change out egg product burritos for bean & cheese due to safety. Nope. They hand my daughter the bag of TWELVE hour old food and tell her how to safely warm it up at home to make it edible. Seriously? (The food had been prepared since 7:15am that morning.) So yeah, the next time you get food and it seems not fresh, it's probably truly not fresh. They'll give you a shpeel about the warmer temperature and argue to your face, but won't make fresh food for a paying customer. A simple mistake turned into a vendor showing their true color. A good break when driving to Phoenix. This place is bright and very clean. The food is good and it's a much needed break from a long drive. The Jamaica was good and not too sweet. Had the small taco salad with carne asada and the meat had a lot of flavor. Enchilada plate had 3 enchiladas and the sauce was good. We also had the beef taco and tamale. My family and I traveled through Arizona last week, and Mr. G's was recommended by our friends as a "MUST" stop. So of course, I needed to check-it out. Being from San Diego, I consider myself a taco shop/Mexican food connoisseur, so I had high expectations for this spot. I arrived about 1130AM, and that appeared to be a great time. There was no line and the restaurant was not that busy. Fast forward 30 minutes, the place was very busy, including their drive-thru. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. There is a beautiful mural on the wall that illustrates Yuma's history. There are a ton of tables and a nicely themed side area that is like a little private dining area. The entire dining room is very clean and well-kept. The staff was amazing. Very friendly and they worked fast. Our food was brought out to us pretty quickly. When our food came out, my first thought was "wow...that's small". Compared to San Diego taco shops, the portion sizes are very small. The food tasted good, but was not much different from Mexican taco shop food I have had in the past. The only thing I noted was the flavor of the carne asada was very good. Other than that, it was just good. Nothing that made me feel like, this is a "MUST" stop. The other downside was the cost. Our family of 6 spent just over $100 for our order. We ordered the same things that we normally do at our regular shops, where we spend on average $50 to $60...so being over $100 with the portion size was a shock to me. This is like if you lived at home and you're opening food containers in the fridge of the food that was leftover from the entire week. Some stuff taste super old some a couple days old. According to the menu, they are known for a good bean and cheese burrito and it did not disappoint! The burritos do appear to be on the smaller side but they were filling and satisfying to be able to keep driving while eating. We ended up not using the drive thru simply because the line did look longer, ordering inside estimated a 20 minute wait but the actual wait time was closer to 12 mins, maybe because we only ordered two burritos which is probably a faster item to make. Let me first start by saying I haven't lived in Yuma for about 15 years now but I grew up here until the age of 19. I went to 4th jr high ave so obviously this was my spot ! A staple in our household when we could not afford much. Im so disappointed into what this has become ! Is there new ownership? The bean and cheese burrito use to be my favorite and it was AWFUL !!! The tortilla was cold and cardboard like.. like taco bell's tortillas are softer! What happened to the soft home made tortilla ?? the beans were cold with hardly any cheese ! Before the cheese literally use to hang from the burrito to your mouth ! Rolled tacos were alright but also not the same meat inside, not to mention the prices are outrageous for yuma...
