I do love this man's cooking but the sizes are ridiculously small and inconsistent with respect to different orders. Even if I get a large, it's sometimes smaller than the special. In addition, the chow Mein was Just some odd dried noodles in a bag?!?! Bizarre. Where are the noodles? It's 25-30 bucks for two dishes and outside of the white rice, I'm still hungry. Moreover, the lady at the cash still needs to learn manners from like I don't know, circa 1700? After a few recommendations from friends we decided to try Mr. Hibachi. We came in to place a to go order. The young girl behind the counter was adorable and friendly. We were so hoping that the food would be so good we would make this our favorite Chinese restaurant. I've yet to find a decent one in South Florida but I will keep searching. The egg rolls were your basic variety. The wonton soup was very flavorful but i wasn't a fan of the wontons themselves. I ordered roast pork lo mein and I liked the noodles, sauce and veggies but the roast pork was very mushy in texture. I began to pick then out of my dish. My boyfriend always gets chicken curry and he did not enjoy it as much as other restaurants. The food here is anyways fresh and tasty The little girls who work up front are the daughters as this is a family owned and operated business. The fried shrimp appetizer is always on point The spring roll is always perfectly crisp The ice cream is an adventure...but I think you have to go in to pick up to get that. It's rolled up designer Asian sundaes. They have several flavors all delish The Buddha delight is always crisp and shrimp with broccoli also amazing. A very pleasant surprise! Came here with some friends and were helped by a group of young girls running the cash register (I'm guessing the children of the owners) they were very kind and careful to make sure our orders came out just right. We are at the restaurant and they came by the table to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed - it felt really homey and sweet. The food itself was really great too. I ordered the Chicken with Curry Sauce which was just spicy enough and filled with flavor. My girlfriend order the Ma Po Tofu, both of these orders came with white rice included. I loved my dish, it was delicious and I was lucky enough to have my girlfriend let me try a bite of hers too, both had such strong variety to them but tasted totally fresh. The servings were great and left us full, at such a good price too. If you're nearby I definitely recommend stopping by this place when you're in the mood for some Asian food. Let's agree up front... No one comes to Florida for the Chinese food. They come for the sunshine and warm weather, you want good Chinese Food? Go to SF, NY or BOS. But, what do us poor souls from the Northeast do when we move here? We search and search to find something... anything we can enjoy, until the day when a great Chinese food joint shows up and puts the rest out of business. This is NOT that place. Yet, it is an OK place for local take out. Be forewarned, you are not coming for the dining experience, it just a take-out place. On to the food: My first experience was with the Shrimp in black bean sauce, one of my favorites, which was a combination of broccoli and shrimp. The sauce was tasty but not enough black beans. There were ample shrimp and maybe too much broc for my taste. I did enjoy the dish. Soup is always part of my meal. They serve Hot and Sour, one of my favs, but there's not enough protein or other ingredients. It needs more everything, more tofu, more black fungus, more mushrooms, more shredded pork and more vegetables. But the soup was tasty. I also had, on another occasion, the Kung Pao Shrimp. WAY too many veggies and not enough shrimp for me, but it had good flavor. This is the theme of this place, the ingredients are fresh, the flavor is ok but not enough of the ingredients that make it satisfying. To be fair, look at the prices, they are very reasonable. When I call for takeout, they say uniformly that it will be ready in 10 minutes. That's not going to happen, at least the times I went I waited 20-30 min for my food. It's OK if you know in advance it will take that long. So be aware that 20 minutes is about a minimum for the times I have visited. This place is right across the street from where I live. I will keep going back because as I try different dishes, I will settle in on the more satisfying ones. I have been to several "Asian" restaurants in the area which are more expensive by 2X -3X but are more satisfying when I want to dine there. For the price, it's OK and I will keep coming back. Place is definitely not closed, got take out tonight and ordered online, got shrimp lo mein combo with no onions or meat in the rice, krab Rangoon and fried shrimp and also wrote in special instructions i don't eat meat and to make sure there's no meat. I walk in and there are two young girls at the one table in there like 6 and 12 years old. The 12 year old gets up and goes behind the counter to take care of me, legit 12 years old no exaggerating. She repeats my order to me and tells me no meat and no onions and we discuss it for a minute. Get home pork in the rice in the same box as my lo mein. Fried shrimp was disappointing but the Rangoon's were amazing, UPDATED VERSION : this review is updated to 5 stars they've fixed all their issues and I highly reccomend it!! The food was mediocre. My son had the house lo mein and there wasn't enough protein to carb ratio. He enjoyed protein that was there but wanted a little bit more. The carb wasn't as tasty as he's used to. Myself I ordered the beef stir fry there was not enough sauce for the amount of rice that I was given; the rice tasted like brown rice... Which isn't a bad thing but when I want Chinese I want white starches yummy rice. The cashier spoke very little English it is kind of difficult to order. And she kind of guided me towards certain things instead of allowing me to pick what I wanted. Amateur hibachi food. I ordered the hibachi chicken dinner plate and spring roll online from their website. Online it asks what time should the food be ready or what time you expect to arrive. I entered my arrival time, which was about 30 minutes away. When I get there not only was the food not ready, they didn't know the order had come in... I had put in the time for a reason but whatever... I decided to wait for them to cook my order. When I get home I see large chunks of undercooked chicken with a handful of veggies, oversized rice and a pork filled egg roll even though I ordered a vegetable spring roll. (I say oversized rice because all of the hibachi restaurants that I've visited had used smaller, stickier rice) The chicken was obviously not eaten so I was left with rice and veggies that had no flavor unless you used the yummy yummy sauce that they provide and soy sauce which I normally never use. I should have trusted my instincts when I had first arrived... All of their doors were open and large amounts of uncooked food was exposed to whatever flew through the open doors.
