Matt B. and I decided to take our toddler to a pumpkin patch this year, mostly for the photo ops, and we were pleased to learn there was one at the Farmers Market, a short drive from our house. We went the Sunday afternoon before Halloween, and predictably, the Farmers Market was packed (the parking lot was full, so we had to park at the Grove, which is its own thing). We figured this might be the case but were willing to deal with the crowd because surely, the pumpkin patch at the Farmers Market must be fun and festive, right? Apparently, not at all. I don't know if this was a pandemic downgrade, as this Mr. Jack O'Lantern's has pretty positive Yelp reviews, but what we found was a sad tent pitched over asphalt, half-heartedly strewn with hay and a few odd pallets of pumpkins. There were, by my estimation, about the same number of pumpkins you might find at your average Trader Joe's. There were a couple of places where you could place your child for a photo, but they weren't particularly good. One of them just had a plasticky backdrop with the Mr. Jack O'Lantern logo printed all over it. This was such a disappointment that despite caring very little about pumpkin patches until that morning, I became mildly obsessed with the idea of taking him to a good one, and built my following weekend around a field trip to Shawn's Pumpkin Patch in Palms (farther away, but worth the effort). I like the Farmers Market and I'm sure my kid will spend plenty of time there throughout his childhood, but never again for the pumpkin patch. read more

It's nice to see a pumpkin patch right off Highland Ave! I read about it and wanted to check it out since this season it's harder to find activities to do. The place is very small, cute with a few photo opportunities, prices are high and the parking is a nightmare! They even have staff helping in the parking lot, but that's mission impossible. If you have a kid, it could be cute. If you just want to shop for a pumpkin, skip it. Also if you expect a big area with lots of activities, keep in mind, this is a small affaire! read more

In summary, it was a really sad pumpkin patch in comparison to every other pumpkin patch. It's potentially fine for toddler aged kiddos, and maybe if it's your first pumpkin patch experience ever; otherwise it's disappointing. We received a Groupon as a gift to visit and experience this pumpkin patch. The description mentioned a petting zoo, bounce house, games, pumpkin decorating, and possibly a maze. When we arrived at the farmers market we didn't immediately see the setup because at first glance it looked like a Halloween display; like just nice pumpkin decorations. We walked around for a bit looking for all of the aforementioned, and eventually found the patch - there were 4 games, pumpkin decorating kits, some hay, little tchotchkes for sale, and maybe 50 pumpkins strewn about but that. was. it. And the "all in" cost to play all the games and get a pumpkin decorating kit was less than the Groupon. The highlight was the kit. Otherwise our 5 and 7 year olds got through the games in 3 minutes (golf, corn hole, bowling, knocking down cans). They collected their prizes (farmers market pencil and ruler), and we were done. There were a few little tables out should kids want to decorate their pumpkins on site, but ours opted out. We just took the kits home, which were great. But decorating there just felt awkward since there was just one other kid there, it was oddly quiet, and the one employee seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there. So we left. Such a cute little pumpkin patch! The workers there were so friendly and attentive. You can tell they're taking COVID sanitation seriously but also wanting to provide customers with a fun experience. There were so many cute pumpkin photo stations. They even offered to take our family picture for us and had sanitizing wipes for us to clean our phones immediately afterward. There's sanitizer everywhere, and the worker who checked us out even cleaned our credit card for us afterwards. Theres a wide assortment of pumpkins that are great quality and affordable. We were hoping there would be a petting zoo like what we've read about in old reviews, but given the current pandemic it's totally understandable that there wouldn't be the same type of activities. Came here after looking at all the yelp reviews and photos, and I was super excited for the pumpkins, photo booth. To my disappointment the backdrop for the photo shoot was just a orange cloth with their logos. There were about 5 pumpkins left. And most of those were dented or discolored. There was one child painting in a very small table. When we were checking out they said they had ran out of all of the carving sets and other things. There was very little parking so we parked in the neighborhood and walked over. It was the day of Halloween, so I understand that they are low on inventory, but I wish they could have uploaded it on their website or on yelp? I drove an hour from my house to come here. I also even called them twice right before going to make sure that they were open and operating, and they didn't mention anything about possibly running out of things. I hope we can just blame this on quarantine, and have a better year next year. read more

If this wasn't the cutest pumpkin patch ever for the kids! They JF all adorable kinds of activities. I heard that they used to have a petting zoo but because of Covid, things have changed. Well this definitely makes up for it! Our babies had a great time! The best part of it all was their employee Tim. He was the most caring person for us and the children. He checked on our every need even when we didn't ask. I told him he would be in trouble once he had kids of his own because of how much he catered to all the kids. He gave them juices and knew how to show everyone a great time! I would most definitely come back and recommend to all kids. We painted pumpkins and had some cute Photoshoot's! read more

Headed to the farmers market location because my daughter really was excited about going to a pumpkin patch. Instead, what we found was a squared off, partially tented area in the parking lot with, say, 30 pumpkins. The "activities" area was a joke. I'm not sure what this place was like last year or before Covid but if you're planning on hitting up the Farmers Market for a pumpkin patch experience. Find other things to do. read more

I took my kids to the pumpkin patch and it's decent sized with painting, bowling, candy corn hole games and the manager Tony is absolutely incredible as a host. Our kids spent a good hour happily running around and doing different activities. Regarding the other negative reviews I don't understand why people complain about irrelevant things like parking, the size of the patch and the prices (which are normal/decent. At the end of the day this isn't a $1 store) but I have seen adults and kids alike enjoy it. It's the perfect fall activity and I am grateful Tony brought us such a wonderful and thoughtful scene in the middle of the grove. I really didn't want to write this review but it's kind of hard not to especially when I spent $60 on pumpkins at Mr. jack-o'-lantern's. Don't get me wrong the staff is extremely friendly and I know going to a pumpkin patch is always going to cost more money than buying a pumpkin at the grocery store but I haven't had my pumpkins for a week yet and two of them have already rotted Just sitting there on my kitchen table. Very nice and helpful staff, activities for kids, and some animals. Was great, and not expensive.

Our first visit here was today. I thought this place was pretty easy to find. Traffic was a little crazy since we were near Hollywood Blvd. They have a small lot for parking. The pumpkin patch wasn't as big as we're used to but they had other fun things to do. There is a bounce house, bowling, balloon popping, a maze, and a little petting zoo. Oh, and they do have a food truck stop by in the afternoon. You can check their website for the schedule. Most of their pumpkins, by the way, were in great shape. None were beaten up and most were perfectly round. Everyone there was so friendly and willing to help. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. It was much closer to home than any of the other pumpkin patches I had looked up. read more

We had a great evening with the kids! My daughter is 12 months old and she enjoyed the petting zoo and bounce house along with my 17 yr old niece and 20 yr old son. Lots of fun activities for the kids...That said it's fun for everyone!They had a nice selection of pumpkins to take home. Parking was free saving lots of hassle for being in a busy area! This delightful patch in the heart of Farmer's Market was a major unexpected find for me! I desperately needed to find mini pumpkins for my daughter's softball team and was having a heck of a time finding the right size. Had a great evening with the family picking pumpkins, petting cute animals in the petting zoo, playing darts, cornhole and jumping in the bouncy house! Also live music under a huge tent (good thing because it started to rain). All of this right in the middle of Hollywood! Make sure you are coming southbound on Highland and turn right into the parking lot. Its a very busy area so if you miss it it will take you a while to get back. Had a huge assortment of pumpkins to choose from and reasonably priced given the time of year. Really well organized and they help you if you need assistance with those big heavy vegetables. Went there with my family and my friend's family. Everyone had a great time. The kids ranging from 1 to 3 were kept entertained and loved it. Scott helped us out and he was friendly and wonderfully helpful. He made sure games were setup for the kids, got animals out to be petted, explained pumpkins,etc. We had a groupon but even without it the prices seemed great especially for the pumpkins. We had a fantastic time at Mr Jack O'Lanterns Pumpkins. Every person on the staff was so friendly and nice - it was actually my 9 year old daughter who said "Mom, we need to write them a great review on yelp!" She loved feeding the twin goats, chickens and bunny rabbit. The games were great (pumpkin bowling and pop the ghost balloon) and she won two prizes. The bouncy house and hay maze were both big hits, too. We are going to go back in a week when her two cousins are in town. Went today to pick pumpkins with my 2.5 year old. We had a great time, wasn't too crowded and parking with fine between their lot and the church lot next door. Nice people running the place. Will go there for our Christmas trees too. Can't understand why anyone with kids would give this place a 1 star. As a business owner myself, I know how hard it is to run a business and a one star review for a nice place like this is laughable. It's amazing how rude people can be online. Seems like a nice group of people trying to make a nice experience for families. How can you criticize that? We enjoyed it a lot AND it was raining! We had the bouncy house to ourselves! I do not know the owners of this place and just Yelped it to find it today. It's frustrating to see people be so thoughtless when they have no idea how their words impact this business.
