The last couple times I've been hitting the road at 3:30 a.m. to avoid DC and getting to Harrisonburg by 6:15. The Panera doesn't open till 7:00 a.m. here but then I spotted this place and noticed it was open and decided to take my break here. Nice assortment of bagels, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast plates. I got a Sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. My sandwich was delicious, the bagel had just about the perfect chewy texture you would expect from a NY style bagel. Counter service was quick, but remember I was her at 6:30 am so I don't know how fast they are during a rush. The coffee bar, dining room and tables were clean. Two anyone bathrooms; the one I used was clean and well stocked. Definitely stopping here again while traveling.

And the savory sandwiches were a step up from the basic white bread standard - roast beef on a pretzel bun, tuna on a croissant, open faced cucumber, chicken with roasted red pepper spread. ' Anyway, this Cubano Tartine shows up on a plate in front of me. I dig in and keep digging. The ingredients, ham, cheese, pickles, etc, were plentiful and delicious. They were sitting on an ample slice of their sourdough bread. That was the first issue. It was IMPOSSIBLE to cut. I guess I could have asked for a steak knife or maybe a power tool. But, there was so much other stuff that I was able to have a very filling meal without it. The other issue was that the lightly dressed side salad was doused in dressing. Again, didn't complain because, for me, it wasn't a problem during this visit. Issues aside, if I come back to Hagerstown, I'll look for an excuse to come back.

The sourness and the nicely browned exterior spoke of a quality process in making the bagels. Their menu includes a small beverage selection and some sandwiches and spreads that weren't really of interest to me.
