I did have to wait a bit due to coming late and the shop having other customers and then also wait for the swap itself, but I really needed it due to a leak in a tire. My wife went there to simply swap the summer/winter tires as I was out of town. I warned my wife not to agree to anything they would try to sell besides the tire swap. But little did she realized that they were making big plans and target her to upsell in a big way the moment she arrived. While removing the wheels, they convinced her that she MUST change oil because it is a must when changing wheels, despite I had just changed the oil/filter few weeks ago ! While changing the oil they repeatedly told her that she must do the rust proofing as the undercarriage will rust by next year. They should have already seen the fresh wet rustproofing that I had already done a couple of months before, but they somehow convinced my wife that she must do it. Once they lowered the vehicle, they said that her battery is dead it must be replaced ! Since she knew that I had replaced the battery not so long ago, still under warranty, she realized that they were taking her for a ride and started questioning all of the MUST do things they got her to agree. She also noticed the technicians had left the headlights on manually all of that time draining the battery and called me and I questioned the technician. He immediately sensed that I knew mechanically about the car and told me "don't worry, we will give her a battery boost without replacing the battery" !!! But by that time they had already racked up a huge bill and my wife had no choice but to pay. NEVER, EVER go to this Mr. Lube on Yonge St, Richmond Hill !!! DO NOT GO!!!! They sold my wife spark plugs on a 2019 Honda that had 36,000 km on it for $180.00!!! You don't change those for 7 years or 160,000km. They charged her 10.00 to get rid of the old plugs too!! Then they charged for every air filter they could find for prices twice as much as anywhere else and even charged 40.00 to 'sanitize ' the cabin with her sitting in the car!!. How safe is that?? She went for a simple oil change and was charged almost $600.00!!. Do not go here. We will never come here again. They work on commission and I am sure they made a lot of money that day. All About Tire up-sell scams! Beware of getting your tire repaired at Mr. Lub, Richmond Hill. I came in to fix a driver-side rear tire flat at my neighbouring Mr. Lub, Richmond Hill. I was told it would cost $59 plus tax and to make an appointment and wait for 45 minutes. I did and when my appointment came up, the service person lifted up the car, removed the tire and showed me a screw wedged approx. 1/2 inch past the flat part of the wheel (the "crown"). The service person refused to fix it and said I needed a brand new tire. I explained that the vehicle is brand new (with a little over 400KM on the odometer), and that I didn't want to buy a new tire. The service person insisted he wouldn't be able to fix it because it wasn't safe. I said that I will be willing to sign-off on the $59 plus tax repair and take full responsibility in writing by signing an invoice that read "temporary repair, Mr. Lub is not responsible for the repair". The service person refused. I explained that it's not fair to let me wait for 45 minutes with an expectation that the flat will be repaired (for $59 plus tax) and then strong-arm me into buying a new tire once the car was already hosted on the lift. The service person said "I'm sorry it's just your bad luck" referring to the "bad luck" of having a screw stuck 1/2 past the "crown" of a brand new tire. I replied that my life is filled with good luck and that the "bad luck" is his - in strong-arming me to buy a new tire after the car was on the lift. I went to my car mechanic friend and he said the flat is 100% reparable and that a new tire is not necessary. My friend was glad to fix it for me if the OEM (Toyota) refused to do it under warranty as it is a brand new vehicle. I went to Toyota and they fixed it no problem for $25 plus tax and wrote on the invoice "a temporary repair". The last negative review I wrote on Yelp was many many years ago and Mr Lub, Richmond Hill deserves this one star review 100%. Why? Because last year I happened to have the exact same incident and ended up buying 2 new tires at my neighbourhood Mr. Lub, Richmond Hill, because they didn't want to assume the responsibility of fixing a flat tire. Why 2 tires? Because they said it was hazardous to change one tire and not the other. I recall experiencing the same duress at making a buying decision after the car was hoisted on a lift. I cannot comment about Mr. Lub, Richmond Hill oil change services because I do mine at the OEM. They upsold her on a premium synthetic package and told her the car also needed "rust protection, new air filters and rear end fluid". Service here is good, the guys are nice and do a good job. The main issue I find is that you got to pay attention to all the super-size selling they do. You go for an oil change and they try to sell you on coolant fluid change, air filter change, etc. Of course you can't blame them for offering you additional services, but be careful as you might need then but also it could be something you might not need or that you have already done in another place. Other good things: They do keep record of the service you have performed to your car. Try to bring your coupons with you as you can save $10 or 15 They offer you water, coffee or tea. This Mr Lube is located south of Major Mackenzie on Yonge Street and generally has a lot of customers. If you don't already know, Mr.Lube is sort of known for being more expensive and "higher" class, they'll give you a paper, coffee or whatever as you're waiting and the service is done while you sit in your car. Fast and great, huh? After I came to this Mr.Lube, my car check engine light went on... now I take very good care of my car, it's NEVER had a check engine light go on... Car was due for transmission fluid and coolant change. Mr. Lube can be pricey, but they occasionally have some decent deals. I stopped by in passing to check (their website gives no pricing info whatsoever). They had a reasonable price for the transmission, so I went for it. They run the vehicle through the computer to see what other services are needed and to no surprise, the coolant came up. I have an appointment with The dealer the following week for a (free) oil change, and was planning on taking advantage of a coolant service special that was $10 less than Mr. Lube's price. The manager at Mr. Lube offered me $40 off the bill if I got both done while I was there. He didn't just match the price, he gave me an additional $30 off! Thanks for the great deal. read more

Mr Lube Richmond Hill, Ontario I had my oil changed last week at Mr Lube in Richmond Hill on Yonge Street. I noticed oil on the ground at home and at work. So today I took it to the dealer. Mr Lube stripped the threads of the drain plug. Installed a different drain plug with two rings. They knew they screwed up and tried to hide it. I wondered why it took so long and they kept having to add oil. Deal with real technicians please. Not these quick in and out places. Now, on a Friday I am without car until the oil pan arrives. Why is it so hard to be honest? I understand it's your job to up-sell your services, but to blatantly lie to people and recommend them types of fluid changes and deem them "urgent or else" is just bad service. I don't know if I just came on an evening for an oil change when they were particularly bored, but I had like 5 people checking my fluids/tires/doing the oil change when it's usually a 1 or 2 person job.. Long story short; they wanted to charge me 125$ to change my rear differential fluid.. he went through a whole schpiel about how urgent I need to get it changed or else... had it checked by another shop and it was fine. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible! We're extremely upset with this Mr. Lube location. We too are a local business in the area and have been brining our fleet of cars here for a while now. While Mr. Lube Richmond Hill is higher priced than most, we keep going back solely because of their efficiency and speed. However, after our most recent visit here...we will not be coming back; at least to this location. Technician purposely stripped one of the drain plug bolts on one of our cars after we refused two previous up-selling attempts. To make matters worse, the charge for the stripped drain plug was not brought to the drivers attention at the time of billing and was sneakily put onto the bill....which was only later noticed by our owner. The 'stripped' drain plug is a very common up selling tactic used by Mr. Lube technicians. The cost for each drain plug is roughly $1-2 and they sell it for $9.99. Took quite a long time, almost an hour, before I was finished and I ended up with over $150 invoice for air filter, radiator cap, which I am not sure if they had to be changed at all, replacement of two on the rim tires and a regular oil change and I had to come back to pick up my replaced tires because they forgot to put it back into the car.
