I never write Yelp reviews.... ...but, without exaggeration, this was one of the worst food truck experiences I've ever had. My wife ordered a regular bowl with beef. I ordered the dumpling special. They immediately handed me the dumplings (no sauce) and said my wife's meal would be "15-20 minutes." My wife insisted that I start eating so the dumplings wouldn't get cold. Didn't matter. They were already cold. Also, the half serving of fried rice that came with it tasted like wet cardboard. About 20 minutes later, they handed us the beef bowl. They screwed up the order and gave us white rice instead of fried. Not a huge deal. But the beef. Ohhh, the beef. Guys... It. Was. Gross. I tasted it to make sure my wife wasn't exaggerating. She threw it away. Let me say that again. She paid $10 for food and almost immediately threw it away. I've had some pretty abysmal food trucks before, but they've never been "throw your food away" bad. It was pretty impressive. The best part of the meal was the Sprite. Nope. Yuck. PS - I'm attaching a picture of a text I received from our neighbor while I was writing this review.

Spicy pork bowl with all the things

Mr. Mongolian is a food truck with their ish together! They have a well-done website with online ordering! (Unheard of for a truck) and a simple straight-forward menu. I love that they offer a combo too, and a virgin pina colada! It should be stated that Mongolian make-your-own is not one of my favorite foods. By the time I "make-my-own" it's just a bowl of all the things, without any particular flavor profile. Given that baseline, this truck was excellent! I picked spicy, and they delivered! It was a nice, warm, dry spice that had me sniffling, and had a ton of flavors from all the veggies I packed in it! The portion in the bowl was excellent, the veggies were fresh and plentiful, and the seasoning was, well, there was a ton of it, which I love. The chicken dumplings were a bit disappointing as they were somewhat small and rather cold by the time I ate them, and the sauce was a bit odd. They were probably very standard frozen dumplings though, and nothing to complain about. Really enjoyed this place because it's different, and will try a few different varieties next time they come. I recommend online ordering from your desk first though, because these guys took quite a while to get everyone's bowls ready.

Mr. Mongolian came to a food truck event at our community festival. Thank you for coming to the summer festival on one of the hottest days of the year! The options were a bit more limited and you could pick a dumpling option or bowl. You have to select what you want on a piece of paper and then turn it in. I sampled the pork dish and also a dumpling. To me the food tasted salty and I was not overly excited about the flavor. I see they go to various events at breweries and seem to be at many venues. For me, it was just too much salt.

I tried Mr. Mongolian when they were at House of Hops one Sunday. Overall it's a very cool concept for a food truck. You create your own bowl on a piece of paper that you mark with what you want or don't want... like at the sub shop Which Which. The food was just okay for me. I thought that there was a some flavor, but lack of depth in flavor. I've had better Mongolian for the same price, but more quantity and quality. Also, I ordered with my family (3 different bowls), but we had a lot of ingredients missing or mixed. I didn't get the pineapples that I wanted, which are SO good and important in the dish. They also ran out of white sauce and didn't say anything to us until we went back to ask for it. We payed $1 for the sauce.

I had the chicken dumplings, they were good & sauce was good. Didn't love the rice though. Guy at the window was pretty nice. & they accept cards.

    Where's the chicken?!

Tried this at a recent food truck event. I ordered a bowl with supposedly chicken. I got a plate of more vegetables & pineapple and can't even find chunks of chicken. It's not good at all! It's not worth $11 for sure!! Big disappointment.

We had this truck in our development tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a big fan of bbq but this was really flavorful and not like regular bbq. I ordered chicken and tofu and lots of veggies and asked for "hot" and it was a great combo of spicy and sweet. The regular bowl will be 2 meals for me so portion size is good! I ordered online, got a text when it was ready, and the guy was really nice!

Great food. Good customer service. Exceptional for a food truck. Will definitely eat here the next time they come to Crossroads IV.

Our waiter was a nice guy (didn't get name, longer hair and mustache) and was attentive without being intrusive. They have a really good wine selection. I had several things off the menu, including the mussels and the brisket, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. The garlic bread was prepared well without being too hard. The space is a little loud but not overly so; we were still able to have a pleasant conversation. Highly recommended.

This review is offered as constructive feedback to the staff, management, and ownership of a restaurant we want to see succeed. Today we stopped in during Sunday brunch and placed a takeout order for one pound of brisket and jambalaya. The wait was approximately an hour. I understand that brunch is busy, and the restaurant appeared to be working with two servers, a bartender, a busser, and several people in the kitchen. The front-of-house staff seemed to be doing what they could. The issue appears to be kitchen execution and order flow. Operationally, an order consisting primarily of slicing a pound of already-prepared brisket and portioning jambalaya should not remain in the same production queue for an hour. This is less a staffing criticism than a process problem. Management may want to look at ticket prioritization, a dedicated expediter during peak periods, separation of simple takeout orders from full dine-in tickets, and clearer ownership of orders from receipt through handoff. When the food is already prepared, throughput should be measured in minutes, not an hour. That matters because a restaurant can have excellent food and hardworking people and still lose customers through a bottleneck in the process. The objective shouldn't be to make everyone work harder; it should be to design the kitchen flow so the same people can work smarter and move appropriate orders through faster. Parking has also become increasingly difficult and is worth considering as the restaurant continues to draw a crowd. None of this changes what we enjoy about Succotash. We love the food, the music, the authenticity and the character of the place. We'll be back. But an hour for this particular takeout order points to an operational problem worth fixing. Great food deserves equally great execution.

A1 Gyro and Philly, a food truck that serves lamb gyro, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and grilled…read morechicken sandwiches, came to a neighborhood in Carrboro, NC today, and as a lamb gyro enthusiast, I decided to buy a couple (1 for my girl). I was the only customer, and the friendly Middle Eastern guy in the food truck asked what I wanted: 2 gyro wraps. He asked if I wanted to add hot sauce to my gyros with tzatziki sauce, and I said, "Yes". I asked him where the food truck is based, he said that he goes to different locations, and didn't mention a permanent location. I checked the address here on Yelp and it says it's based in Durham, NC, which is not too far from here. Each gyro wrap cost $12, and my total came up $26+ (I assume with tax included). I was about to pull out $25 cash but after he said total, I pulled $30, and he said not to worry about it. I insisted to give the $30 and he gave a $5 change. I guess I got a $1 discount. He finished cooking both gyros in about 12 min., a bit longer than I expected, considering I was the only customer he was serving at that time. The gyro wraps were served inside a small paper bag, and wrapped in aluminum foil. I was quite surprised at the size of the order for 2 gyros. When I opened my gyro wrap, the size looked regular yet a bit smaller that what I had in last October's State Fair, which was fine, considering the State Fair gyro (which came with side of Greek fries) cost me $18+. However, unlike that State Fair gyro, I did not enjoy A1's main specialty. I would have to agree with what the previous reviewer Renee said, "Onions does not make a Gyro make". I love onions but not too much on my Gyro; this one is loaded with so much onions, lettuce, and tomato to the point that it's drowning the flavors of tzatziki sauce and hot sauce (Did he forget to put it?). The amount of lamb gyro meat didn't seem to justify its $12 price; it's not even spiced well, and the mush of ingredients to hide the fact that it's lacking meat just looked as bad as it tasted. That's not even the worst part. When I ate the gyro wrap, the pita bread tasted soggy, and that unpleasant texture and taste were more emphasized on every bite than the lamb gyro. I was not able to finish it; and just threw my leftover away. As I'm writing this review, my girl hasn't eaten her gyro wrap yet, and I haven't told her what I thought so she could judge by herself. We recently enjoyed an $11+ gyro in Kebab Skewer in Cary, and a $12+ chicken + lamb over rice at Tasty Halal Eats food truck in Morrisville, NC (both I reviewed here on Yelp), and I'm sad to say that A1's gyro wraps were nowhere close to the food quality of those foods and the State Fair gyro I mentioned earlier. The food truck's friendly customer service and 99% Sanitation Score are the only positive things I could say about this food truck. A1's gyro is clearly the opposite of what "A1" means. Overall Score: 1.1/5
