After many years with Mr Poolman, he abruptly dropped us saying his poolman's truck kept breaking down. Week after week they continuously missed servicing our pool. He told us that he no longer has anyone to service our pool in our area and dropped us with zero notice, effective immediately. Over the last year I have been very disappointed with the lack of service, responsibility, notification, and communication in regards to our pool. As paying customers, it should be of utmost importance to provide excellent customer service by a simple phone call to let us know that service won't happen on our scheduled time but will be reschedule promptly. However, that communication was non existent and I would have to call, leave voicemails, and emails requesting a response as to when service will occur. It is unfortunate that this occurred. We've been a customer of Mr. Poolman for many years (10 or more) and used to be very satisfied. However in the last few years the business has deteriorated to the point that we finally cancelled our service. My daughter works remotely from home and would let us know when the pool guy was a no-show. This happened on several occasions. We would call and the answering service would tell us she would send Brian the message. His return calls were hit or miss. The last straw was when the pool guy showed up, supposedly to shock the pool water since it had turned green. He was only there 3 minutes (my daughter timed it)! That was a week ago and it's still green. My husband finally went to Leslie Pools and got the chemicals to do it himself. He was told that he should clean the filter first. When he opened the filter, it was so clogged and dirty, he couldn't believe it. It was obvious that the pool guy hadn't done anything. That's enough. Don't waste your time. Horrible horrible business practice, I spent more than $2k for pumps and filter with technician Bryan, he promised at least 1 year warranty, now 6 months later there is problem with the filter and pump as water is at times not pumping, he does not take calls. When I texted him over a month ago, he responds and says this is really busy time and cannot come. What kind of unethical business is this? I was referred to Mr Poolman by my pool builder. I wasn't expecting to have a pool man but after receiving my initial startup shock service I was very impressed by the knowledge of Ruben. I got a quote and his pricing was very fair. So now he comes every week and my pool is immaculate. I was referred to Mr. Poolman by Mr. Carlos' Pools. Ruben showed up on Wednesday at 2:00pm. He was punctual, respectful, and friendly. He immediately went to work and programmed my pool for the initial start-up. He then began his 101 lessons and I took notes. He was very detailed and patient as he explained the mechanisms of all the gadgets. The coolest thing about this was that HE TESTED ME as soon as I told him "Ok, seems easy" I had to demonstrate to him that I knew what I was doing in order to protect my investment! I went thru the same thing that Lori D. went thru below. They are all about quantity not quality, as they brag that they have over 700 customers. I only used them for 6 months as they service was terrible. They missed two weeks in a row I called and canceled my service. The following week the pool service guy came and I had to tell him I had canceled their service. I then got a bill in which I disputed. Then 6 months later they took me to collection. Luckily for me I kept great records and beat the collection claim. I had a very different experience. We had Mr. Poolman clean our pool for approx. 6months. After that time, we canceled service. We paid the bill with a letter inside saying to cancel service. A week or so after, I saw their guy coming out of my backyard. I mentioned we had canceled service. He didn't know that. This happened two weeks in a row even after my husband called. I just so happened to look at my credit and what do I see? A collection notice from Mr. Poolman. I didn't get any notice from them. Terrible customer service. And be carful. Do not do business with this company! I used this company for a couple of years and it was a nightmare. They applied my payment to someone elses account - twice. Then had the nerve to call me to demand payment and charge a late fee. I had to do the legwork to prove that I paid them both times. They CONSISTENTLY did not show up for service and when they did the guy was there for a total of 6 minutes. Then to top it off, we watched as the pool man walked off our property with our supplies! When we called them to tell them about the situation, I was called a liar. Funny, the next day our ful case of chemicals re-appeared in our shed. I deducted 4 weeks of service for the many times they did not show up which was more than fair however, they not only kept billing me for that time, they also billed me even after I ended my service with them. The issue is that I did not even know they were continuing to bill me because they never actualy sent me a bill or a statement. After a year, I had forgotten about all this, but I get a letter in the mail from a colIection agency asking for over $300! I explained to the collector my situation and sent them all my documention. I was sure this would take care of the situation, I never heard back from him. Many months later, I find out that they reported this as a collection on my credit report. In searching on the internet, I have found that I am not the only person to experience a similar situation. I believe they and the debt collector are working together to collect money that is not owed to them by putting people in situations that give them no other option but to pay them. I have been using Mr. Poolman to service my pool for about 2 years now. They're awesome!! I used to clean my pool myself but in the summer time it was very hard to maintain. I started calling a few different pool companies and out of all of them Mr. Poolman had the fastest service. I called a few other companies to get a quote for service, and most of them didn't even pick up the phone! The 2 companies that actually picked up were on a cell phone and the call kept dropping, which was very frustrating. When I called Mr. Poolman someone answered immediately and was able to have someone check my pool right away. Omar services my pool and he is great! He takes his time and makes sure the pool looks perfect before he leaves. I had a leak on my pump recently and he came and knocked on my door to tell me about it, and he showed me where is was at. The office then called me to schedule the repairman to fix it! I have three dogs that are usually in the backyard and Omar always takes time to make sure they are not able to get out while he is servicing my pool. These people do not clean your pool. They put their initials on the card to make it looked like they cleaned your pool. I came home Friday, the bottom of the pool wasn't vacuumed. All he did was skim the pool. Another time my mother in law was home and she said he sat in his truck for 15 minutes then walked into the backyard, signed the card and left! When we complained all they did was send him back... really. It happened yet again and when we called to complain the manager didn't even apologize. He replied "I will call you back." I had a very negative experience with this company and would not recommend them. I own a home in Pasadena with a pool, and hired Mr. Poolman to take a look at the equipment. We were having problems with the pump, water levels, etc., and wanted their opinion on the nature of the problem, and their help with ongoing maintenance of the pool and the equipment. Mr. Poolman (someone named Robert, to be exact) came out and told us that they were very knowledgeable about our pool equipment, and that they would be happy to service the EQUIPMENT each week (checking all the gauges, making sure there were no blockages, spiderwebs, etc.), along with skimming the pool and generally keeping it clean. So we hired them. Their poolman came, but did a terrible job cleaning the pool and did not even check the equipment once. He never checked the gauges, valves, water level or anything else relating to the equipment. He only came, poured chemicals into the pool, did a terrible job of cleaning it, and then left. So we disputed the bill, and compained that the pool was not even clean. Rather than negotiate with us, send someone out to do what they promised, or even discuss the issues with us, Mr. Poolman sent our account ($104.00) to a collection agency, which promptly threatened that they would make a negative report on our credit if we did not pay up. There was no consideration whatsoever of our issues, our complaints, or our feeling that Mr. Poolman did not deliver the services that they promised. With a gun to our heads, we agreed to pay $80.00 to settle the debt. Mr. Poolman is unreasonable, unfair, and does not deliver services that are promised. And they don't even do a good job of basic pool cleaning. If you need a pool service company, go elsewhere. read more
