I waited a couple of months before rating my new pool repair company. Partly to see how the new equipment performed and partly due to procrastination. I am happy to say that my new Jandy variable speed pump is running perfectly. The old pump overheated to the point that the water in the strainer basket was boiling! ACE Pool deserves 10 stars. We had been suffering from a horrible contractor for 8 months, who could not do anything right and failed inspection multiple times. We contacted ACE to have them take over swimming pool upgrade - pluming, re-plaster, heat pump and electrical work. Their pricing was itemized, transparent and very reasonable. There was no sales pitch. Alex and his team were very professional, experienced, reliable and always did the right thing. Also, gave us a lot of advice. Unlike some other contractors, they did not cut corners (do minimum) or shift responsibilities to others. When our pool skimmer got broken, the horrible contractor faulted Alex, as he was the last person who touched the skimmer. Although Alex (and we) had a feeling the contractor did not install the skimmer right, Alex took it on him and replaced the skimmer, so our pool gets done right and timely. In addition, he fixed all the wrong things done by the contractor, and we were finally able to pass the inspection! Whatever Alex touched, we know they are good quality. He double checked his diagnosis with Pentair Customer Service and was able to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. David and Alex from here were very honest and helped me out with a fluke! The Santa Ana winds blew our metal swing into our pool and it scraped the bottom. I asked ok can you do a 5:30 call , cause of course for a big project like this you would want your better half there correct. Well she then informed me that well it would be a call or video call and no later than 4:30 did they make any calls. Not sure how a company has stayed in business when you don't do evening calls . I then said , ok initial call that's fine, ok that's fine at 4:30. Then I asked ok but can someone come out on the weekend to do the quote, because in my world my husband works weekdays and is off some weekends. Crazy times I I'm living in that some people work on weekends . Well apparently this company doesn't work on weekends. Very fortunate company . Our pool equipment was making a horrendous SCREAMING sound every time it started up. It sounded like an air raid siren, except louder and more annoying. My neighbor whose bedroom window is right across from it, complained (and rightly so). It would sometimes go on for minutes until the system got up and running. I would often have to turn it off immediately on startup as it was mildly terrifying. I had FOUR companies come out to look at it. One thought it was the vacuum breaker in the solar heater, one thought it was "just something that happens," some thought it was the pump, etc. I should have just called ACE right from the beginning. Joe came out, and before I could even get outside to meet him, he had diagnosed AND FIXED the problem! It was a spring inside one of the valves. He lubricated the spring and VOILA! Problem solved. He even texted me a link to where I could buy a replacement spring in case it happened again, and showed me how to replace it so I could fix it myself. Took five minutes. I could have saved HUNDREDS of dollars and so much time by just calling Joe first. Do yourself a favor and use ACE. I will be calling them first from now on. Thank you! read more
