We came here for an appetizer/afternoon snack as I'd read on Yelp that they had chargrilled oysters and that appealed. The restaurant is on the east side of 441 just south of Sheridan street. We came from the east and made a u turn at 441 and entered the parking lot through the Mobil gas station. Parking is at a premium here as there's a Family Dollar store and a Sedano's supermarket in the same strip. They specialize in seafood boils. On the window outside they were advertising chargrilled oysters for a $1 each. Dine in only. Woohoo. My husband and I each ordered a dozen oysters and one side of potatoes. The chargrilled oysters were great. Dowsed in garlic butter, and served hot, they actually tasted chargrilled. They came with lemon wedges and a few slices of bread to sop up the oyster flavored butter. The side of potatoes were three small red bliss potatoes that had been steamed. They were plain -- no seasoning --but that was okay as I also dipped them in the leftover garlicky butter. Two things I didn't particularly care for were 1. that they served plastic ware to eat the oysters. And 2. They automatically include a gratuity on the bill (but they said so up front). To sum up: Bottom line -- liked the oysters (especially for $1 each) but didn't like having to use the plastic forks. read more

My wife found this place on 441 just South of Sheridan. There is a large sign in the window advertising Grilled Oysters $1 each, Dine In ONLY. With a 15% automatic gratuity on dine in meals, this was still a bargain. The grilled oysters were very good and came with bread to dip into the garlic butter from the oysters. We also shared an order of potatoes. They do not have all The Bottle Beers they list on their menu and you can't go look at the cooler to see what they do have. The Men's Bathroom does not have any soap in the dispenser and the dispenser nozzle is crusted over, indicating there has not been any soap for a while. read more

It's a decent size restaurant, very busy with loud R&B music. Also they automatically charge about 15% gratuity. The first time I went here I ordered the seafood boil with snow crabs, shrimp, and CGL sauce; not much flavor. The snow crab legs were meaty and the sausage were flavorful. I was willing to give this place a second try so I ordered the same seafood boil but with the Mr. Q Special sauce and it was delicious. The sauce is a yellow color with a savory flavor. Unfortunately, the drinks have absolutely no liquor in them. The service is slow and they don't check on you to make sure you have everything that you ordered or need. I just went to the bar to get gloves and to request my missing items instead of waiting for the waiter. Advice to Management: Management needs to assign someone to bartend so the waiters aren't making drinks and they can focus on providing better customer service. This whole in the wall don't miss with their char grilled oysters. The first time I had them I came back the following week. Im addicted and I'm not afraid to admit it. They have a special for dine in customers which makes them a dollar each. So I'm going to sit down every time. My only issue is service is slow and definitely a hit or miss. Just meaning that after you order some of your waiters will never check on you again lol... luckily other people will step up where others lack. He was absolutely fantastic when above and beyond and gave us the best customer service I've ever had in my whole life. I don't eat seafood so going here was definitely out of my comfort zone. We were greeted by our host "Josh" who was super friendly and polite. Helped us with everything and was excited to explain the menu to us. They had sports on the tv's playing but the music they were playing was so good, had me and my guest dancing in our chairs. Now onto the food, up first we had their famous grilled oysters (I've never had oysters before) and surprisingly tasted like grilled chicken. They were seasoned perfectly and really flavorful. Key tip is to add a squeeze of lemon and a dash of hot sauce. We also tried their fried calamari which was very tough but the breading was really good. Then we tried voodoo rolls which could use more filling but were super good regardless, we also tried their fried chicken wings, which also tasted like your local Chinese takeaway. (Which is a compliment) the breading they use on all of their items are super crunchy and delicious and their oil doesn't taste old and burnt. We also tried some seafood pasta and that was delicious also, it was like an Alfredo pasta without the creamy sauce. You can't go to a crab house and not get a crab boil! Friday 1/30/26, Hubby and I decided to visit Mr. Q. Crab House before going I checked them out here on Yelp to read the reviews. I noticed some reviews were not as positive. We decided to give it a try, but darn it was a very disappointing experience the fish boil didn't have any flavor not New Orleans that's for sure, I ordered soft crab box and the portion was so small and our bill was $80.00. The seafood boils are delicious here! I didn't realize until I tried a few other seafood restaurants in the area and I constantly found myself comparing those places to Mr. Q. Everything we ate there was good. The chicken fingers were crispy, tender, and tasty. The fries were also piping hot! My crab legs were delicious and beautifully seasoned. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Honestly, with the price, the speed of our food coming out, and the taste would make me come back! The only negative thing I would say is the bicycle wicker baskets that the chicken fingers and crab rangoons came out with are cute but not practical. Shrimp gumbo was good lots of shrimp , but to much pepper. Shrimp corn soup wasn't appetizing at all. We both had combo A for one with mild Cajun seasoning. Portion was perfect for one person. Corn needed to be cooked a little bit more, but the seafood itself was very tasty. Location wasn't crowded and the close late. We made our own seafood bag with snow crab, clams, green mussels, and shrimp. Bag came with corn, potatoes and sausage. This was the perfect portion for the 2 of us. The flavor was great but being from the west coast the medium was flavorful but not spicy. Had an extra charge on our wine but waitress Jasmyn corrected. My son was treating me to dinner so of course I picked this restaurant. I had been dying to try it. We went on a Saturday about 6:30pm and there were a few parties there. They were setting up for live music which is always a plus. Who doesn't like to listen to music. The food was so good, but yes it does get messy even with the bibs they gave us I did my shirt. The appetizers were not really good. I didn't really care for them, but now the seafood boil "YES" that was out of this world. You get to pick the seasoning you want with it. Just thinking about it right now makes me want to run over there for dinner. The service was great. Our servicer was constantly coming to the table to check on us. This is a for sure a to go place, but maybe not a first date because you will be eating with your hands and getting all dirty. Was craving seafood for lunch so I ordered for pickup. I never have an issue paying for my food but I handed the clerk over my card. I noticed the charge of $18 something after she swiped it once I went to sign it - my own fault for not paying attention. I FULLY understand inflation but I'm not happy about two things. I read menus AND visit their website before I ordered - and my meal was to come with FOUR softshell crabs for $13.99. It even says that on the website right now. I only received two crabs (yes, I checked before I left) and said to the cashier its only two and she said yes. So, I paid $18 and change for two softshell crabs and a side. If I had received that total on the phone when I placed the order AND knowing it was only for two I would have chosen a different meal. Also checked but I didn't see anything anywhere that said prices are subject to change. It's a shame - because my softshell crabs are actually really good, just wasn't expecting to spend that on two of them :( read more
