Mr Shap entertained both kids and adults at our son's birthday party. He was accommodating and easy to work with.

I booked Mr. Shap for our son's 7th birthday party because our son specifically requested him! My husband and I had taken him to see Mr. Shap perform at a library near us a couple years ago and we all three loved his show then, and even though it was two years ago, our son has continued to talk about how much he loved Mr. Shap's show at the library, and he asked if he could have Mr. Shap at his party this year! Three days after I had booked Mr. Shap for a date in April 2024, I ended up needing to change the date from April to June, because our son's school notified us that the class picnic for the small group of students in my son's class (and their parents) was scheduled for the same date in April, and at the same time as we had scheduled our son's birthday party. The majority of guests we were inviting to our son's party were our son's classmates and their parents so it would have likely meant that no one would have been able to come to our son's party. Mr. Shap was very understanding and was able to accommodate moving the date of the party to a date in June. A few days before the event he reached out to ask about the theme for the party and I told him that the theme and all the decorations were based on our son's favorite TV show, and gave him a link to that show. On the day of the event, he arrived on time and performed a wonderful magic show, full of fun and humor for both kids and adults, along with amazing balloon twisting that all of the kids and the parents thoroughly enjoyed. During the magic show he included my son and each of his friends in the show by inviting them each to have a turn to come up and "help him" during a part of the magic show, and they all loved having chance to do that. During the balloon twisting, he surprised our son by making him a "balloon birthday cake" with the two main characters from our son's favorite TV show on top of it and made him a couple of the other characters from the show as well. To say that our son was over the moon excited about that surprise is an understatement! :) He then invited each of the kids up individually and asked them they wanted him to make for them with the balloons--he suggested many different things that he could make and gave them each a choice, and every child was excited to get to pick what they wanted and they each loved what he made for them! Mr. Shap also "saved us" when it came time to bring out our son's birthday cake as the lighter that the venue provided for us to light the candle on our son's birthday cake was not working....but Mr. Shap pulled out a lighter from his pocket that he says he always has with him for such a situation! Our son loved having Mr. Shap at his party so much that toward the end of the party, he went up twice to Mr. Shap and hugged him and thanked him for being at his party. Then, on the way home, our son asked if we could have Mr. Shap come to do his magic show and balloon twisting at all of his birthday parties going forward....I don't think that there is any higher compliment than that! :) We would absolutely invite him to perform again and we highly recommend him ...he really made this a "magical day" for our son! The day after the party we received an email from Mr. Shap with some wonderful photos of our family that he had taken for us during the party, (which was so thoughtful of him as we hadn't had time to get any until he asked to take them for us) and he mentioned how touched he was that our son had gone up to him and had given him a hug and thanked him for being at his party. read more

Mr. Shap was FANTASTIC! We had a drive-by birthday party for my daughter, and the original balloon artist we hired fell sick the day before the party. Thankfully, she introduced us to Mr. Shap.
