The Flounder & Shrimp Basket was an incredible deal at $14--2 pieces of flaky, delicious flounder, 8 crispy shrimp, and a generous serving of fries. The chicken livers were some of the best I've had, and there were so many I couldn't finish them! The meal also included 3 flavorful chicken wings and fries, making it another great value. The smash burger was juicy, cheesy, and perfectly messy--the kind of burger you need extra napkins for. At $10, it's hard to beat. To top it all off, the corn nuggets and hush puppies were excellent and rounded out the meal perfectly. The food, portions, quality, and prices were all outstanding. We came here based on Yelp's reviews. We didn't realize it was part of a truck stop so the surrounding area was very unappealing. Still, a steady flow of traffic so we proceeded to enter and order. We ordered 13 pc fried jumbo shrimp and 5 pc wings. The food was served hot and crispy. The shrimp didn't come with cocktail sauce so we requested. The wings came with a side of hot wing sauce which was good. The wings themselves didn't have much taste without the sauce. The fries were also not good. Try to upgrade to other sides. With that said, there was a man who said he's a regular and always orders fried fish. So maybe we just ordered the wrong items. The food was 3 stars, ambiance was 2 stars. read more

Friendly counter service. The gentleman helped me choose the best fish for my meal and asked before putting the normal lemon pepper seasoning on the fish and chips. It is made to order so it took a few min. - worth it! I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere so people realize it is more of a takeout vs date night spot. More like 4 1/2 stars! This is a very casual eatery. You order and pay at the counter. They call your ticket number when your food is ready for pickup. They do a lot of takeout, but we decided to "dine in". Food is served in takeout containers. It's located behind the gas station but not far off the interstate (I-95). We were hungry when we stopped so everything sounded great and we couldn't decide what to order. We wound up getting their 3-item platter. The items we chose were chicken livers, fish, and fried oysters. We got the fried flounder (a dollar more) although we'd wanted snapper -- it's too expensive now and not included per the gal taking our order. It didn't take long for our food to be ready. It came out in a big aluminum tray. And we requested tartar and cocktail sauces. They also gave us some ranch and blue cheese. The portion was huge!!! The only problem was that they gave us scallops instead of oysters. When we pointed that out, they gave us a side of fried oysters in addition. My husband said the oysters were some of the best he'd had. The fried flounder fish -- there were two large fillets -- was so light and flaky. The fish was my favorite. The chicken livers were good also. And the plate also came with a ton of crinkle cut fries. We did have leftovers. And we said we'd certainly stop here again. Fresh fish, needs more seasoning, sketchy location. Saw signs on the way and decided to stop here to eat some fish. We got the large catfish nuggets. It's a great amount for $12.99. The fish was crunchy, perfect inside, and tasted fresh but there's no flavor other than salt (that you can see in the photo, lots of salt on top). They have potential, just need to add some seasonings to the fish because it's a little bland. Fries were ok, regular ones. The area is sketchy. Abandoned gas station with a lot of birds eating trash outside. Not their fault . We parked real quick to pick up our food. It didn't take too long. Overall a great road side stop. We wanted to make a quick lunch stop. This is next to a truck stop in a building with a closed convenience store. The food here is cooked fresh and fast. I had the fish and shrimp lunch special for $9.99. The fish was super hot, the french fries were crisp. It was served with hot sauce and I had to ask for cocktail and tartar sauce but that was OK. We were looking for a place to stop for lunch while traveling and found this place on Yelp. After seeing the reviews, we figured we needed to check it out. It seemed pretty busy, but we didn't have to wait long to place our order. We waited maybe 10 minutes or so, but everything was made fresh. Here's the breakdown of the food. Fish nugget meal with fries - My son devoured this meal! I mean, he's a talker, but we didn't hear anything coming from the backseat of the car for about 15 minutes. Chicken Wing and fish nugget meal - I was also very quiet in the front passenger seat! The serving sizes are big, and everything was so fresh. I will say the fish nuggets could've used a bit more seasoning, but I almost think maybe it wasn't included by accident since everything else was seasoned so we'll. It is a bare bones kind of place that is mostly take-out, but they do have plastic booths that serve their purpose. We tried fried shrimp, which was good, and catfish filets which were disappointing. The texture of the catfish was a little soft, which I think is a result of being soaked in milk for too long. Also, the breading has no seasoning and is pretty flavorless. Salt, pepper, maybe a dash of cayenne? They do have hot sauce at every table. Everything is made to order and they are open on Sunday. read more

We had been on the road all day and we were really ready for dinner. It was after 9p which tends to limit your options. Found this place on Yelp and discovered it was practically across the street from our hotel. It's not in the truck stop but is next door to the truck stop and behind a row of gas pumps. The girl working the counter was great (and very patient as my wife studied the large menu. I had the shrimp po boy which was excellent. It came with a generous portion of really good crinkle fries. My wife settled on the tilapia and shrimp dinner. Her dinner included generous portions of tilapia, shrimp and fries. She said her tilapia was about the best she had ever had. We were greeted by a nice young lady whom just started and she explained it was her 2nd day. She explained the meals to us and they were freshly cooked to order. The prices were very decent and nice amount of food. The owner did have a little sarcastic comment but maybe he was stressed. They stole my heart when they had my favorite cake which was the Key Lime Cake but they also had Strawberry, Lemon, and a New York Style Cheesecake to choose from. Missing Charleston for certain so we got a recommendation from the clerk at the truck stop and decided to give it a try. Worth it. The portion sizes alone made it worth the cost! This little hole in a wall spot located in a gas station just off the highway admittedly made me a little nervous. But I was starving after a long drive and wanted something different from the usual fast food. The interior has definitely seen better days - the circa 1950's decor made it feel a little grimy - but the food was actually really really good. I got fried chicken tenders and catfish and both were fresh and tender and juicy. The chicken was unbelievably juicy not at all dried out. Update on this review.... The best chicken I have ever ate. So so good. Chicken livers are so crispy. We drive to Brunswick from a Jacksonville just to eat there. I had to update my review. It used to the best fried chicken. I have been there many time but the last two times the chicken was fried hard and so so small. Waste of $35. Tiny little shrimp for 10.00. Soggy and nasty. I told the lady about how hard the chicken was fried last time. I even gave a tip. Nope will not be back. She assured me that they would not fry it hard. I think they refry the cold chicken. Oh and the fries were stale. Only a handful. Not enough for a 20 piece. I am so disappointed. Had Popeyes the other day and it was delicious. I'll just stick to Popeyes. I ordered chicken wings (30) w/fries. Also ordered Catfish nuggetts. Went in and order was ready. The young girl handed me a bag with 2 dinner trays in it and I wrapped it around my left arm. Keys were in my right arm and she handed me a big tray of the chicken wings THAT WERE BOILING HOT. I took the tray not realizing how much hotter it would become while walking to the door. I was being burned by the tray and saying "I can't believe she just put this in my arms". Thank God for the very nice lady that knew I was in pain and about to drop everything. I let it slide...got home and the chicken wings were so hard I could not chew it and it tasked like it was 3 days old and been put back in the oil to heat up. HORRIBLE FOOD!!! I visited this place on Sat, 1/10/26, for dinner about 5:30. It was crowded and it took a great deal of patience waiting to get a table and to be served. I had eaten at a seafood place in Jacksonville that was so bad that I was compelled to comment; for this place, it is just the opposite. I ordered shrimp which doesn't come with a side but were cooked three ways. I recommend fried. I ordered a side of loaded potato skins stuffed with cheese and bacon pieces and sour cream. As I wanted to try their fish, I ordered a fillet of whiting grilled. I started with the whiting and it was incredible, perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned! The shrimp were the same, both grilled and fried. The potato skins were good too. I mentioned to the waiter that the whiting was fantastic...and a short while late, the owner brought me another plate with another fillet, completely by surprise! The bill was approximately $44, the same amount as I spent in Jacksonville, but the difference was the food and the pride the owner puts on the plates as they leave his kitchen! I looked on Yelp and Mr. Snappers had good reviews so I went in. The restaurant is a no frills kind of place, but there were people there ordering food and eating. I ordered a side dish of fried oysters with cocktail sauce on the side. The oysters were so good.....we had driven away by the time I tasted them. Found this place when getting gas on I -95 at Sunoco. The food and service was great! From the amount of people who kept coming in for orders I knew it was going to be good!
