They did not have AYCE, when we went. I think it was mostly due to limited seating with the outdoor dining. It may return when the indoor seating is open.

Are they open tomorrow for lunch? Reservations needed? Calling now line is busy?

They don't take reservations but we were seated right away as a group of six on a sat night

We opted to order 2 Sapporos, 1 sea bass taco, a Johnny roll, chu toro nigiri, jabara nigiri, salmon belly nigiri, hamachi belly nigiri, kasugodai nigiri, unagi nigiri, and brown butter yuzu salmon. This ran us a subtotal of $164, and $180 after tax. The Sapporos came in bottles. I was thrown off because I was expecting draft (just an assumption, the menu did not state it was draft). However, it was nice that the glasses were frozen/cold to keep our beer cold. Our waitress also opened the bottle in front of us and poured it for us. I really enjoyed the sea bass, but I personally felt the lettuce part of the taco was just doing too much. I would be happy if they just sold the sea bass as just the fish without all the extras. The quality of the nigiris were good. The pieces were large, and I enjoyed the rice, but I didn't feel like it was the highest quality sushi I've had in the SCV. I also felt like a majority of the fish that we ordered tasted heavily of lemon, which I'm not the biggest fan of. About 40 minutes into the meal, it was clear to us that the kasugodai nigiri was overlooked. When a waitress asked us if she could get us anything else, we brought it to her attention and she said it would be right out. About ten minutes later the kasugodai came out. I was expecting this to be raw, but appeared to be seared. Again, not sure if this is an issue with me and my assumptions, or if it could have been more clear on the menu. Overall, the restaurant was spacious, clean, and everyone was very friendly. Additionally, there is ample parking. However, I personally did not feel as though the quality matched the price. Is it good enough to get your sushi craving satisfied? Absolutely. Would I drive 20 minutes out of the way just for this restaurant? Maybe not, but if I'm in the area then I may consider it again.

My favorite. Tuna or toast. This by far will be my go to dish. I had them keep the spicy mayo off. I just wanted the flavor of the dish.

We were scraping every last bit of it from the bowl. For our rolls, we ordered the California Roll, Baked Scallop Roll, and the Baked Salmon Roll with cream cheese. Every single one was outstanding. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, the ingredients were high quality, and somehow each bite was even better than the one before. It's rare to find a place where every roll is a hit, but Tokai nailed it. The service was just as impressive as the food. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. Without question, this is some of the best sushi my fiancé and I have ever had. It came with a bowl of miso soup, a bowl of white rice, 4 or 5 pieces of gyoza, a salad, cucumber, a pre-cut orange, and 8 or 9 pieces of tempura of a variety. My least favorite is probably the salmon roe sushi as I wish the roes look bigger and more orange-y. Service was great. Although we were told they were busy and we might have to wait a bit, food started to come in less than 5 minutes! We didn't get a water refill but the glass of water was big. Dirty dishes were taken away timely too. I've been abused by the Bay Area exorbitant prices for a long time, it was such a pleasure to see rolls priced at $15. For appetizers we ordered the trio dip and taquitos. For entrees, we ordered the al pastor street tacos, and Enchiladas Sabor. For dessert we ordered the nutella filled churros. I believe our bill was around $135. Pros: everything came out so quickly! Drinks were LARGE. Timing of the food: Drinks were out in five minutes, appetizers in ten mins of ordering, and entrees in fifteen minutes of ordering. The service was also great. Our waiter came in and checked on us, but wasn't overbearing. The quality of the food was also great. I kept saying everything felt very elevated and a great place to go for a nice dinner. I did not do any research before coming here. This was a place that my partner chose, so the two comments that I made (which I later found out was also commonly noted on Yelp) was that the Chips & Salsa were not free, and that my enchiladas did not come with rice and beans. Typically, when I go out for Mexican food, there are certain things I look forward to, so I was a little thrown off that they weren't provided here. The trio dip was a great option because it did have a bean dip as well as salsa, but it was just a bummer that it was an extra charge. I was particularly interested in the Crepas Mexicana, and when it was served the folks around me give the dish the proper amount of oohs and ahhs. Layered poblano crepes filled with shredded chicken and avocado on top of a yellow bell pepper sauce base that was both velvety and hearty. Since it was also one of our friend's birthday, the waitstaff brought out a bowl of ice cream with a candle.

So so delicious on its own, but the sauces really completed the dish! Garlic Naan: The perfectly cooked, stretchy and soft addition to the overall meal! Buttered, garlicky GREATNESS! Perfect for scooping up sauces with. 10/10. Overall, the staff, the attentiveness of both dine-in and take-out orders, and the food were all outstanding. If it was possible to leave a negative star count, I would. I have been coming to Mr. Sushi for many years and tonight was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We had a group of six people out for a going away dinner. When we put our name down, we were asked for our phone number and told the wait was 30 mins, and we would be called or text when our table was ready. After about 20 mins of waiting, the host came outside and called a name that was no where near mine, but he was looking at our group. We asked him to repeat the name, again it sounded nothing like mine, so we told him it wasn't us. Mind you the group of 7 that put their name down before us had yet to be seated. Once the group of 7 had been seated, my group took their seats on a bench just outside the door of Mr. Sushi and waited to be called. After we had been waiting over an hour, we started to notice people who came after us be seated, so I went to the host to find out how much longer the wait would be. He then showed me the waitlist were my name had been crossed off. I explained to the host that we were never called and I never recieved a text or call that my table was ready. He then started arguing with me and even called a server over to argue with me that they had called my name and we told them no. After explaining that the name he called when speaking to us was not my name, that the party who put their name down before us had been seated moments before, and arguing with him for several more minutes, he finally agreed to get us the next available table. Once seated, we ordered our drinks and food within 15 minutes, so we thought we were out of the woods. We were wrong. Two people in our party got their food within 20 minutes. The rest of us had to wait between 1-1.5 hours for our food. The tables next to us that sat down at least 30 mins after we did, got their food first. We were then told by a waitress that they were doing last call and asked if we wanted to put in another order. We advised her that we had not recieved any of our food and were told it would be out shortly. Twenty mins later, we finally got some of our food. One of my friends items was completely forgotten. Meanwhile, several people seated at the bar and all the sushi chefs were busy taking shots and screaming to celebrate one of the chefs birthdays. A female patron then started yelling across the whole restaurant that one of the chefs was a pu**y (there were several young children in the restaurant). Not once did any of the staff apologize for the long wait, the error with our table, or the completely obnoxious and unprofessional behavior. We will never be going back to this restaurant. Ever since they came under new management the customer service has been horrible. We tried to give them another chance, but tonight was the last straw. read more

I love Song - he's the owner of Mr. Sushi. He used to work at Akasaka but left to open his own place. He is a great sushi chef - he gives great portions, he's fun, and he's attentive. He has a relationship with all of his customers and knows exactly what they are going to order and how they like it to be prepared. He's fantastic. So of course when he left Akasaka to start his own place, I had to take my business with him. THAT BEING SAID. I am very disappointed with Mr. Sushi. At first, it was great. But now... It's always always always busy because of course everyone loves Song and wanted to remain loyal customers to him. But the service is extremely slow because of it. The other chefs just do not run things the way Song does, and there's a slim to non-existent chance of being able to get Song as your sushi chef when you sit at the bar. If you choose to sit at the tables, good luck ever getting your food. They are so slow, it feels as if you've been forgotten. The cuts of fish are slender and not as melt-in-your-mouth. Song makes sure to give the best cuts of fish, and always thick cuts. The other chefs need to take pointers! The restaurant is always loud, too. Annoying. I don't even live in Valencia, and the only reason I would come here is for the excellent service and sushi. We have been going her for years. have referred many friends and relatives as well. Last Saturday we went for lunch around 1:40pm. Closer to closing at 2:15pm a younger Hispanic man was sweeping the floor. While sweeping the floor he was talking to another Hispanic worker who came from the kitchen wearing a hat. They were joking around cursing saying Mother F**K this Mother F**K that for a good 10 minutes. I was in shock that they were doing this while customers were sitting there eating. Than one of the waitress (Asian) was on her phone texting and standing there and the younger Hispanic guy said to her "ha! you look like a white girl doing that!" I being white looked at my boyfriend and we were in shock. I wanted to ask him exactly how does a white girl look? I figured I would speak to the owner Sun who I have left a message for numerous times but yet has called me back after 2 weeks. I spoke with Matt a manager in charge who laughed after I had told him what happened and than apologized for the behavior. We come here at least once to twice a week and spend close to $100.00 easily each time. We will no longer be going back to this restaurant and definitely will not refer any more people to come here. I came here tonight for the first time. It was pouring rain. So, I didn't expect the place to be crowded. But, they were already packed a few minutes after opening at 5 pm. Ironically, this is a good sign. Any place that is this crowded on a rainy night must be popular -- and it must be a great Sushi restaurant. My guest and I were seated almost immediately. It was a bit snug at the sushi bar -- but, the guy to my right moved his chair a bit so everything was OK. The sushi tasted fresh and the AYCE menu was extensive. I particularly enjoyed the salmon sushi compared to other AYCE sushi restaurants. At other places, they make the salmon sushi with a lot of rice and minimal salmon. Here, the sushi chef loaded the dish with a load of salmon and a reasonable amount of rice. Song, the Sushi Chef, was friendly and had a good sense of humor. He was also fast in making our dishes. The sushi dishes were served on a nice plate -- making the presentation exceptional. The price for AYCE is reasonable. It's about $25.95/person, I believe. The one negative is that it took a bit too long to get our check. I had to ask for it more than once. Overall, I am a fan of this place and I will be coming back. read more

This WAS my favorite Sushi bar until recently. I'm really disappointed in this place, the last few visit here were very unpleasant. The staff is unorganized, two male staff members were cursing and joking around while out on the floor. Was amazed that they said the "f word" at least 5 times while we were sitting there. They didn't seem to care who was around or who heard, very unprofessional. They were also making comments about other races. I was so shock and offended and now wish I had walked out versus giving them my business. We had 3 different servers. It took 20 minutes to just get soup. The choice of music they play for their customers is ridiculous. Almost ever other song had a cuss word. Last time I checked this was a restaurant not a club. I called to speak to the owner in regards to my experience and still yet to receive a call...shocker! Obviously he doesn't care about his business and that's why it carries through his racist incompetent vulgar staff. It's a shame,we are here at least 2 times a week. We now take our business to Kishos or Shogun for all you can eat. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place read more

We went to Mr. Sushi based on Yelp reviews. We heard the Sushi was great but that the service was slow. Understatement. We never even made it to a seat. That would have been fine except the restaurant was empty. We arrived and we're told we would have to wait for the restaurant to calm down. Yet all of the tables were empty. The gentleman who was the host was rude. He stated that his experience was that if people were seated right away, that the customer had an expectation of eating right away. So instead he said we would have to stand 20 minutes before being seated. That customers are more understanding that way. Then he went on to say that they had a busy day the day before and that all of the sushi chefs were exhausted. I told him I had a bad back and couldn't stand for a long time. He suggested we could go somewhere else then. This is all after standing at the front reception with no one in front of us for 20 minutes. We left and went across the street to Kisco where, although crowded were seated almost immediately. I have attached pictures of the empty tables. read more

I tried to give this restaurant another chance after our last 2 visits here but this last visit really made me and my wife pay our bill and walk out. The food made by the chefs are always superb but its honestly the service that ruins it. this time it was a health concern Our server constantly touched his face, while serving our food, cups, silverware etc. One instance that really bothered me was waiting for the restroom for quite some time. After hearing the 'flush' of the toilet I never heard the water run from the sink. The same male server walking out was a server/kitchen cook, but I have also seen him come from the kitchen area handling food. (tall, hispanic male, 25-30, medium build) this leads me to believe this person never washed their hands. I stood there waiting for the bathroom for over 10 minutes. which is absolutely disgusting. I reported this restaurant to the CD-public health as there is a clear mis-management of its staff around its patrons health. this isn't the only employee I've seen not be mindful of washing their hands. read more

I placed three online orders for chirashi and went to the restaurant to pick them up. To my disappointment, the orders were not ready, and the employees displayed a nonchalant attitude towards my presence. After informing them that I had made online orders, they checked their computers and began preparing the food. Throughout my wait, there was no apology offered for the inconvenience caused. I observed that the employees lacked organization as they failed to greet incoming customers, causing some to leave without being acknowledged. Despite waiting an additional 30 minutes for my order to be ready, there was still no acknowledgment or apology for the delay. The overall experience left me disheartened as the restaurant appeared to be lacking in customer service and care towards patrons. I've eaten a lot of sashimi in the past and very few places have ever given me a "wow" effect. I wasn't expecting much when walking in and looking through the menu... everything appeared to be very standard. Then my sashimi order came out: generously large slices of fish. I asked the waitress the differences between the two tuna's on my plate, and one was lean while the other was a cut closer to where otoro is cut from. She also pointed out that there were two different cuts of yellow tail. I've never been to a sushi restaurant that served multiple cuts of any fish other than tuna. It was simply amazing. I think this is where you go to get real fish. The quality is top notch and the portions are pretty big. I would definitely recommend. The staff is incredibly dedicated, and if you say "omakase" ("up to you," or chef's choice), the people behind the counter will give you something really wonderful. read more

It was actually my favorite spot. I go there almost everyweek Today i had the worst customer service ever with the new manegment. We were 7 adults and 4 kids , orders 5 all you can eat and ordered one side for one of the adults . When the food came there was a shrimp so 2 of the kids every one got one shrimp and then we had the waiter came to us with an aggresive attitude and a really disrespectful way , and he said we will charge you for the shrimp. We agreed and just commented on the way of talking , talked to the owner and was even worse and said dont come again. I am sorry to say . New manegment this is not how u want to treat your customers . We have been in santa clarita for 3 years and everyweek end we are There and we refered all our friends . I don't usually post negative reviews on yelp. I try to recognize businesses for the great job instead of the bad. So, here goes my first bad review. I came here for the first time with my friend. We choose this place based on their yelp reviews. This is the first time ever yelp reviews let me down. Let me start by saying the food was good however, the service was horrible. They took way too long. We had a different server for drinks, food and to clean up and hand us our check. Wasn't sure who to tip or base our dinning experience on. The music they chose to play would not be my first choice for a restaurant. the music choice seemed to have as much profanity as the obnoxious racist young waiter. Who runs this place? We went here on a recommendation from a family member. When we walked in we asked if we could sit at the sushi bar that literally half of it was empty and it was starting the football game on Sunday. We were told we could not sit at the bar because the sushi chef was on break. That seemed odd. We than asked if we could sit at a table on the same side so we could face the TV and they said no. I thought that was odd. I was told that the rules are no sitting two people on a four top. I asked to speak to a manager as the restaurant wasn't even half full. They hustled about and took a few min and came b-ball and said there was no manager to talk to and nobody in charge. It was really ridiculous and disappointing. We went to shogun sushi around the corner who has fantastic service and great sushi. read more

we wanted to give this sushi spot another try yesterday (Friday evening) since we have come here many times. the food is always good and on point, but the service has gotten terrible. our last visit was almost a year ago. my GF and I saw 2 male employees drinking alcohol outside the restaurant and proceeded to come in and begin working and serving food, attending customer. I don't know what kind of establishment thinks this is ok, to allow your employees work under the influence/drink on the job. But our waiter/server was the same one we had issues with on our last visit. You could smell the vodka on his breathe! We are not coming back here again and will be reporting it to CDPH read more

This place is VERY popular so please plan accordingly. Best time to come here is when it first opens or towards close. If the food wasn't so damn good there would be no wait, servers wouldn't be running around from table to table and you would get what you ordered quickly but the food IS that good so just be prepared to wait, drink and fill up your belly. You should expect to be here for approx. 2 hours from start to finish. I've always gotten excellent service here so I don't know where the negative reviews are coming from. My daughter and I walked into Mr. Sushi 11-8-14 at 2:00. We were fully aware they close at 3:00 , because we called. There was a lady in front of us and she was served. The host looked at my daughter and I and said SORRY WE ARE CLOSED . I look at my phone and said ITS ONLY 2:00,DONT YOU CLOSE AT 3:00. The BEST, The BEST, The BEST Santa Clarita has to offer for sushi! PERIOD! The owner, Song, has been a long time sushi chef here in town for several years at other well known places, and has always shined wherever he serves. Now he has his own place in Mr. Sushi, and definitely brings his expertise for great fish and presentation. The fish is so fresh and the cuts are excellent! BEST ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI IN SANTA CLARITA. I eat a lot of sushi all over LA and this is by far my favorite place right now. I love the all you can eat here since so many options are available for all you can eat. Be prepared to wait 20-40 minutes for a table on any given night, come hungry and try as much as you can cuz everything is stellar here.
