i walked in STARVING and with a game plan and i was not disappointed by mr sushi! we were seated quickly and our food came out at a good pace. we started with the cucumber salad appetizer which was a generous portion, enough for both of us. instead of the regular garlic chili dressing it was a umami ponzu sauce that was very refreshing--we ate the whole thing lollll our first 2 rolls were the spider and dragon rolls. i love eel so the dragon roll was a hit, the eel in particular had a great flavor! the spider roll was good too. now imagine my face when i saw that there is a roll called crazy spicy white boy. i'm not a crazy white boy but i had to try it just because of the name tbh. it was so good!!! the fish had a nice char flavor, and it was genuinely spicy, not like regular sushi spicy where its just spicy tuna. there was actual hot sauce on top of the roll lol and it tasted really good all together. there is a non spicy crazy white boy on the menu too so maybe i'll try that next time. all in all id give it a 9/10 because not gonna lie the crazy spicy white boy was kicking my butt after a bit but worth it! read more

I've been coming to Mr Sushi for almost three years now (going on four), and it's easily one of my favorite spots in town. In my photos I ordered a few of my go-to items like the crispy shrimp tempura, a crunchy roll loaded with tempura flakes and sauce, and their fried dumplings. Everything came out hot and perfectly crispy. The shrimp tempura had a light batter and the dipping sauce paired perfectly. The roll had great texture with the crunch on top and fresh avocado inside. This is one of our usual spots. I don't check in every time because I get sidetracked by the conversations and quick service but rest assured the phone eats first here. Great ambiance and good vibes too. The bento boxes are a good alternative to ordering rolls because you get all the good stuff like the miso soup,salad,mixed tempura,rice, sashimi and sushi rolls. I love this place growing up one of my friends actually worked here so we always come in and get big old bowls of Ramen and it was amazing. Flavor was great. It's under new management now. My son chose Mr. Sushi for our (early) dinner date. As one of his favorite places in SCV, he said he dines here often and wanted me to try it. Located in a small plaza at the corner of Valencia and Cinema, parking was very easy. We arrived just before 4pm to an almost empty restaurant. We were immediately greeted and seated in just a couple of minutes. We were both quite hungry. We started with the Baked Green Mussels and Dynamite, then ordered the Terak, Hama and Rainbow Rolls. For dessert we chose the Banana Tempura Ice Cream. Everything was fresh and so good! Very nice presentations. Portions were generous. During the course of our meal, the servers went through a shift change. It also got noticeably busier as tables started to fill and a large party arrived. This place has become a very easy go-to for me and my wife--often after a full week of work. Their green tea is a great alternative to always having a soda with your entree throughout the week. And their Bento Box always feels like a better meal than most anything you could select elsewhere. I feel like I have treated myself better after eating there. Their shared parking lot is a little tight--I would rate it for properly-parked Honda Civics and below! If I'm in my truck, I'll park in an adjacent lot in an unobtrusive way and walk in. For me, it's worth doing. All of their sushi selections are great, and bringing a party goes well in terms of "something-for-everyone" food offerings. A friend and I stopped in for a mid-week lunch. It was my first time there, but he goes all the time and loves it. Mr. Sushi is now on my lunch list. The restaurant was not very busy (we got there about 11:30), but it is nicely built out, with a sushi bar along one wall and a mix of booths and tables in the middle. We were greeted promptly and offered drinks right away. Service throughout the whole lunch was very good, and the staff is friendly. I ordered two of the basic cut rolls, a spicy tuna and California roll, along with a house salad. The house salad is a bit overwhelming, as it is in a small bowl and piled high with ingredients. I enjoyed the fresh greens and shaved carrots, but it's impossible to eat without spilling on the table. The dressing is good. I would have actually preferred a smaller amount of ingredients in a bowl where you could control things a bit better, along with more dressing. The rolls were larger than expected. Two rolls was plenty for lunch. Both the tuna and Cali rolls tasted great and were very fresh. Mr. Sushi provides ginger, wasabi and both regular and reduced sodium soy sauce on the table. The total for me was about $20, and I felt the meal was a good value. They also offer combos, specialty rolls, bento boxes and more. I would definitely recommend that you give them a try. read more
