    Octopus sushi
    Paul R.

I'm visiting family in California right now, and coming back to Sushi Story is one of the things I look forward to the most. I've been eating here for over a decade, and it never disappoints. Bruce -- the owner and sushi master -- is truly one of a kind. His talent, consistency, and kindness are a huge part of why this restaurant has stayed my all-time favorite for so long. Tonight's dinner was another reminder of why this place is unbeatable. I ordered: * 2 orders of albacore sushi -- buttery, fresh, and perfectly seasoned * 1 order of edamame -- simple, clean, exactly how it should be * 1 order of fried shu mai -- crispy, savory, and ridiculously good * 2 orders of yellowtail sushi -- melt-in-your-mouth perfect * 1 Rattlesnake roll -- rich, balanced, and beautifully plated * 1 special order (yellowtail + albacore) -- Bruce's custom creations never miss * 1 order of octopus sushi -- tender with great texture * 1 order of mackerel sushi -- bold, fresh, and expertly sliced Everything tasted phenomenal. The fish quality is on another level -- fresh, flavorful, and handled with the kind of precision and care you just don't find everywhere. Each dish in my photos not only looked stunning but had that signature Sushi Story taste that keeps me coming back year after year. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and personal. Bruce always remembers faces, always cares about the experience, and always delivers sushi that blows you away. If you're anywhere near this area of California and love sushi, Sushi Story is an absolute must. Ten+ years later, it's still my #1 -- and somehow, it's only gotten better. Thank you, Bruce, for another amazing meal. I'll always make time to come back when I'm in town.

    BEST SUSHI in Santa Clarita

10000/10000 review. I come here every time I'm in Santa Clarita. By the far the best sushi and the garlic edamame is the best. Love this place!!!

Dining at Bruce's sushi bar isn't just eating, it's an experience that lingers long after the last bite. Every plate that leaves his hands feels like a carefully orchestrated performance, where balance, color, and contrast meet in perfect harmony. Bruce doesn't simply make sushi he composes it. His dishes blur the line between art and flavor: ruby cuts of tuna nestled beneath golden quail yolk, translucent ribbons of white fish crowned with black caviar, or the whisper of microgreens and citrus weaving freshness through every bite. Each presentation glows with intention -- the kind of beauty that makes you pause before lifting your chopsticks. What sets Bruce apart is his fearless creativity. He fuses unexpected ingredients -- bright herbs, house-made sauces, and subtle heat -- crafting combinations that are both surprising and deeply satisfying. His food honors Japanese precision while celebrating flavor in a way that feels entirely his own. As a regular, I've come to recognize his quiet rhythm behind the counter: the measured patience of a craftsman who treats each piece as if it were the only one that mattered. Watching him work reminds you that excellence is born from humility, discipline, and joy. If you think you've had great sushi before, you haven't until you've tasted Bruce's. Come with an open mind and let him lead you through flavors you didn't know could coexist. Trust him -- every bite tells a story of passion, precision, and pride.

Best sushi in Santa Clarita. I don't care what anyone says. The owner owned a restaurant in Vegas for many years and has brought that freshness and flair here! 10/10 would recommend

Sushi was fresh and plenty! They didn't skimp on the pieces of sashimi or on the rolls! They gave us edamame as a free app. The service was great, I'm guessing our server was the owner and she was nice and on it. The place is clean and the bathroom even has a bidet!

damn near broke my belt eating here. server was attentive to detail on my order and nice. food was fresh and warm. good bento selection and lunch options. nice sashimi and sushi potions as well. place was full during lunch. lots of foot traffic with school nearby when it was let out and a starbucks next door so lots of moving pieces around lunch but the vibe inside is cozy with sports playing.

Shortest review ever .. I absolutely love this place and location and every time I go down to Castaic, my youngest, and I have to stop to get the LB roll. 3 of them actually.. 1 roll each and another to share.. Yeah like that... anyhoo The L.B. Roll offers a fusion of flavors with its combination of crab meat, cucumber, and avocado, baked to perfection and topped with succulent lobster and masago. The textures and tastes blend seamlessly, creating a savory experience, call me biased but this is the best role they have and the only role that I get. The attentive friendly, funny and bubbly wait staff adds to the overall enjoyment, making it a must-try for sushi enthusiasts. The sushi chefs make for a fun time. I can't praise them enough because I only eat sushi once a month and I make it a point to drive from Bakersfield to Castaic for their sushi. Thanks for listening. See you there.

Overall the bento meal was delicious. The gyoza had a bit of spice I didn't recognize but it didn't over power the flavor.

Still really enjoy going here! went today, it was slow at the time we went so food was coming out quick & HOT! We enjoyed the Spicy Volcano Roll, Crazy Boy Roll, Rattlesnake roll, miso soup (so good every time) & tempera veggies/shrimp. Everything was delicious & we recommend the Crazy Boy Roll if you want flavor. If you are a tempera veggies/shrimp lover like us the large was sooo much food! Highly recommended. The waitress today was super kind & helpful. She helped pack out go items & was extremely mindful of checking in on us.

What happened? Rock shrimp miniature size now?
    Nada Q.

What happened to the rock shrimp orders that are now 1/4 of the size they were originally? $97 total for this order? $40 alone for the two tiny rock shrimp orders. Unacceptable Check my previous reviews of how great it WAS. Wow, unbelievable. We called the restaurant to inform them of our extreme disappointment. They offered to refund us for the rock shrimp, but if this is the size now, we won't be reordering.

As always, I love sushi and always looking for some good places to eat at, I walked into sushi story not really expecting too much as there are many restaurants that disappoint us at times. I ordered a couple of things, including sashimi and rolls. The food was pretty good it took a little while, but I prefer to wait a bit if it's for freshly made food the service was good the waitress was really nice and helpful in helping me decide what to pick as I wanted to eat everything on the menu lol, One thing I did notice is the way the restaurant employees interacted with everyone as soon as I walked in the door everyone turned to greet me and welcome me it is a small place so it could get packed relatively fast but when I went In it wasn't, I kept noticing all kinds of people come in and they were treated like family and friends it was nice to see because I don't really see that to often and I've been to alot of places and some really nice but never with this kind of warmth and acceptance might not be the right words but you get me. I spent about 50-60$ on about 3 dishes and a large Asahi. I can't complain. I enjoyed it. I do recommend this place to eat or try at least once, Here are some pictures that might not be the best, but hey, lol.

Bruce making one of his original and incredible sushi creations. You can't go wrong when Bruce delivers omakase/chef's menu!!!!!

First, I would like to say that my family and I have dined at your restaurant on several occasions and have always had positive experiences. We have enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service, which is why the experience we had last night was particularly disappointing. My family and I visited your establishment again and ordered from the à la carte menu. After we had finished most of our meal and paid our bill, some members of our party, including my brothers, were still enjoying their sake and finishing their drinks. To our surprise, a staff member approached us and asked us to leave the restaurant. While I understand that it was a busy evening and that there may have been other customers waiting for tables, I found it inappropriate and unprofessional to be asked to leave when we were still consuming items we had legitimately purchased. We did not order from an all-you-can-eat menu, which typically has a clearly stated time limit. As paying customers dining from the regular menu, we reasonably expected to be allowed to finish our food and beverages without feeling rushed or pressured to leave. What was most disappointing was the manner in which the situation was handled. Hospitality should include treating guests with courtesy and respect, regardless of how busy the restaurant may be. Being asked to leave while still finishing our drinks and foods left us feeling unwelcome and diminished what would otherwise have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope you will address this matter with your staff and reinforce the importance of professional customer service and respectful communication. Thank you for taking the time to review my concerns. I would appreciate your acknowledgment of this complaint and any information regarding how this matter will be addressed. Sincerely, Carla

One page is the standard ones, like the Lion King, sumo rolls, 49er's, and the other page is their special rolls. Unlike last time that we tried a bunch of their special appetizers (and they are still the same on the menu), we tried the rolls and bento this time and I think I like that more. We ordered the Teena roll, the Gilbert roll, an order of salmon roe sushi, a side order of chicken fried rice, and a tempura bento. The rolls tasted good, soft and slightly chewy in the mouth with a blend of all the sashimi and crab meat and sticky Japanese rice. The tempura bento was sumptuous! It came with a bowl of miso soup, a bowl of white rice, 4 or 5 pieces of gyoza, a salad, cucumber, a pre-cut orange, and 8 or 9 pieces of tempura of a variety. My least favorite is probably the salmon roe sushi as I wish the roes look bigger and more orange-y. Service was great. Although we were told they were busy and we might have to wait a bit, food started to come in less than 5 minutes! We didn't get a water refill but the glass of water was big. Dirty dishes were taken away timely too. I've been abused by the Bay Area exorbitant prices for a long time, it was such a pleasure to see rolls priced at $15. Cleaned the tables etc So we decided to come back 2days later Raeleen is not here bummer you could tell the patio tables were filthy no windows open and the waitress Natsuyo no comparison cold and tables had dead bugs all on them let's just say no Raeleen. So I attempt to order crab sticks again and was told they were imitation crab.i know what I had and it was real crab but she insisted it was fake though she wasn't here that day. She said Raelern was new what does that have to do with anything the cook isn't and he prepared it. I ask for the manager as soon as he walks up to me he says we dont have real crab without hearing my story. Its just kinda hard to believe that a place that prepares and cooks food infront of you that is not cheap only has imitation crab. I wont be back
