In SCV -- there isn't any sushi restaurant better. Period. Oh, so you have to wait, but not at your other place? Then stay at your other place. All those who have had Mr. Sushi will gladly wait & eat the freshest fish, drink the better sake options, and enjoy the friendlier fellow clientele :) Seriously though, stop in and order whatever favorites you have somewhere else, and find out that it is possible to have it BETTER. In most cases, people either go to sushi restaurants to enjoy the fresh selections, drink in moderation, and spend a slow & easy time laughing with friends -- or, they go to critique absolutely everything about a place, because for some reason they think eating sushi makes them worthy of fast service & personal attention -- it does NOT. Some of the reviews here are ridiculous man if you go on a Saturday or Sunday night and the line is out the door that should be good indicator that the wait is going to be pretty insane. The food can take a while at times but again it all relates to when you go. I've never once had a problem with anything here and they all work very hard and people want high class service and pay nothing it's so silly for 25 bucks a pop most people over eat the cost to begin with and I see so many people leave no tip or try and take stuff to go. We went here after our adventures at Six Flags. We did not do all you can eat because we have a long drive back. We went here 2 times and this place can get crowded. The parking lot is always full too. I do like the crunchy and fried scallop roll. The bento box is a great deal as well as you do get a lot. I do like the spider roll too. We use to go here when it was Sushiya, since the switch to Mr. Sushi the most notable change is the addition of ramen. This has to be the best ramen in the Valley. And $10 for both ramen and sushi - it's one of the best deals. The only downside is the service. The place is almost at capacity when we go and not enough available servers; we end up sitting for awhile just waiting for the check. Hoping that will change and then they'll be able to serve more people. read more

We had a terrible sushi experience here on a Friday night. Possibly it was because we ordered to go and they gave us the worst cuts of fish they had on hand. Salmon was brown on multiple pieces. A crab cut roll consisted of overly salty, dry, imitation crab. And our dynamite hand rolls had brown bits of mystery fish in both rolls... If you are coming here for AYCE low quality sushi then you will be ok as that is what they serve and cater too. I usually come here once in a while and never really had a problem, today we ordered all you can eat; however we waited about 20+ minutes for a couple of orders and they still forgot a couple orders. After we finished our food the server tried charging me a whole extra roll (11.95) for 3 left over pieces. I understand they charge for left overs but for 3 pieces? Not that it's saying much, but it's nearly as good as it gets in Santa Clarita Valley, a valley that seems to chew up and regurgitate Sushi Restaurants on a regular basis. I was a fan of Sushiya and was kind of bummed that they "closed", but... um, look closely and Mr Sushi is basically, well... it's Sushiya version 2.0, with some things a bit better, other things the same. New chef seems competent. Table service still tends to be... let me put it this way. If you sit at the bar, you are treated like their son. If you sit at a table, you are treated like a stepson. Not hated, just... perhaps a bit prone toward negelect. It wasn't bad, but the service was not top notch. I'm still a fan. The menu is better, in my opinion, the prices are quite good, the sake and beer selection is decent, the ramen is still a gigantic wooden basin filled with yummy junk food. They were out of the house style of Ramen and only had the two other flavors (Miso and something else). It's the little errors and little failings that take that 5th star off, it's the otherwise many decent to very good things that keep it above three stars, I'm still a fan of this location and I look forward to more. Wish they could push it up to 5 stars with better table service and more consistency, but hey, it's still good times, good food, good people. This was our second time at this restaurant. We probably eat sushi 4-5 times a month. We're not "experts" nor purists, but we really wonder why this place gets any stars. Service, Is it really that tough to order a medium spicy tuna hand roll, chunk tuna not the round up baby food version? After rejecting the baby food version, we had a significant wait and then the chunk tuna hand roll with massive spice and mushy chunk tuna showed up. Close to the worse seafood I've ever had and none of us could finish it/choke it down. All three of us have now spent time in the toilet while our systems reject their food, sorry for the image but we are suffering. Everything else we ordered tasted stale or worse. Maybe they buy their fish on Monday and this was Saturday. We recommend that you avoid this place. I really wish that we had had the experience that others had at Mr. Sushi. By far The Best sushi in SCV!! Gama my sushi chef prepared some of the best "eye candy" dishes I have ever seen. The Yellowtail Collar, Spanish Mackerel, Oysters & the Baked Salmon are all Premium items on Sunset/Ventura Blvd; at Mr. Sushi they are included in the AYCE menu. With 2-beers my bill was $41. I'm giving Mr. Sushi 4 stars for their quality/quantity/price ratio. The fish is quite good, not great. Do note that you'll occasionally come across notable exceptions, for example the yellowtail was exceptionally good the other day. The all you can eat is simply a great bargain. Highly recommended if you're in the SC area. Staff are great as well. Honestly, if you're looking for the best cuts of fish, you shouldn't be looking in SC. So dang good. Whenever I have sushi, I usually I get a few wraps and am happy with that. Fortunately for me I went to Mr. Sushi for the first time with a great group of people that encouraged me to try some of Chef Songs delicious sashimi... Thank goodness! The slices were generous beyond belief and seasoned soooo well. Chef Song was very personable and came to our table. He was very generous with us. I am usually very conservative and really enjoy a nice quiet meal, but my eyes were opened to a new experience. I was able to enjoy great food, great company, and met Chef Song who genuinely cared about the quality of our food, if we liked it, and made some great recommendations spoiling our palettes with his amazing gift. Here's what I had down last time. The lady waitress in her 40s or 50s, refused to refill my water. Not a joke. She stared right into my eyes as she said "No". I even heard her snicker when my little brother with AUTISM was trying to order his food. He has problems pronouncing most words and stutters non-stop and she had the nerve to giggle. Mr. Sushi all you can eat is worth it. Some of the recommended rolls are the sexy roll and the rainbow roll. They also had a cucumber wrap roll. The only thing I would stay away from is this one plate I forget the name of it but it has a lot of tempura and rice. It was under speciality rolls. There was way too much rice and tempura going on. It was the popcorn. We went on a Friday night around 5:00 pm and it was busy. My girlfriend and I got the last table. The service was great. This review is solely on take-out. I ordered a bento box to go, the lady who answered says: Please give us 20 - 25 minutes. Ok... that sounds good, I'll be there. When I get there my food is not ready! But they gladly take my money and tell me it will just be one more minute. Really... I arrived 30 minutes after my phone order... I wait and now it's close to 45 minutes!!! Mind you I always call way before my lunch so as to give any place I go to ample time to prepare my food and still give them some extra time just in case. Ughhhh still nothing... If I hadn't paid I would have walked out at the 40 minute mark. But obviously I had already paid. Lesson learned don't pay until you get your food. haha Oh well! One of the servers walks up and says you here to pick, right? Yes... I tell them it took 45 minutes... why? he says yes it takes that long... Okayyyy I said well then you need to tell the lady who answered to say the correct time because she said 20-25 minutes. He just looked at me and said ok thanks! Me... in m y mind I was like WHATEVER Man!!! this food better be good!!! lol Obviously I'm not gonna be rude so I just said it to myself. I really want to love this place because the bento box I ordered was SUPER delicious and all the great reviews... but service is key for me, and today it wasn't so great. All you can eat but the quality is really meh! Won't be going back. We went just to try it and see what the buzz was about. We went to Kabuki the following night and the difference was night and day. You do really get what you pay for. Come here if you want to stuff your face and don't really care about the quality of your food. They make everything so large that you'll really get full after 1 or 2 rolls. Also, they kept forgetting to give me the uni, one waitress even said they "maybe" out, sounds so "fishy" for a sushi restaurant. I don't get why this has good reviews. This place is great!! I'm not a big sushi guy but I really enjoyed eating here, so that's a testament to this place. Stephanie (I hope that's how it's spelled) was always very attentive! She was extremely professional, always refilling my drink without having to look for her, and was constantly checking with us to see if we needed anything. Her service alone was five stars worthy. The food was great as well, I tried many different sushi, as they have many selection. I unfortunately can't recommend a specific one because I forgot their names, but I definitely loved the taste on some (others had tastes I didn't really like, to be honest). I enjoyed a "brunch" if you will, at this lovely restaurant on Saturday (11/16/13). As I sit here on Thursday night (11/21/13) all I can think about is the awesome Ramen Combination I slurped up! My husband and I were the first patrons of the day, the night before I told him that instead of our usual Saturday Breakfast outing I wanted Ramen. But where, oh where, in the SCV can you find good ramen??!!?? I of course took to my phone and pulled up Yelp. Now there were other restaurants listed when I did a basic ramen search. Not one of them had a mention of ramen in the comments, a picture showing what type of ramen they might have or a website that was particularly helpful even Mr. Sushi's. But what they did have the others didn't was a picture of a ramen ordering sheet. "That's it" I said "we are going to Mr. Sushi!!" I was ecstatic when I saw that not only did they have ramen with awesome choices but you could get it as a combo with one of 4 choices - Spicy Tuna Roll, Sashimi, Sushi or ... actually I can't remember the last one. I love Spicy Tuna Rolls and Sashimi , so my loving husband picked the Spicy Tuna roll (so I could share) and I picked the Sashimi. OMG. This has to be the best sushi I have ever had. It was beautiful, fresh and freaking delicious!!! The ramen came out (I had the Miso broth, Hubs had the Soy Sauce based broth) it was steaming hot and smelled great. I added corn and sprouts, the pork belly just melted in my mouth and the egg was cooked perfectly. The man added a tempura shrimp to his and it sucked up the broth transforming into quite a tasty morsel. The miso broth was just so good and I ate all of my soup and my Sashimi, his broth was like a true ramen with many levels of umami and the roll he received was actually too much for both of us so we took the rest home, he also couldn't finish his soup so that came home with us too. Both were just as good the next day, which I think is amazing! Ugggghhhhh, I am now drooling and completely starving! The service was great, everyone was keeping busy and more people showed up as the hour moved along. They were attentive to us and really that is all I need.
