This used to be my favorite place to go to. It looks like they have new owners. I was scared to eat my food because when I got to the front counter to check out, I noticed how dirty the counters and store was. The front door was so filthy I didn't want to touch it and the tip jar look like it hadn't been washed in forever. What a great experience we had at this unexpected modern Mediterranean restaurant in a little strip mall. Think Middle Eastern version of Chipotle restaurant. Our adult daughter chose this place to have a casual birthday dinner. I had made a birthday cake for her, and so I called ahead to make sure it was OK that I brought the cake into the restaurant. The owner was so kind and not only gave permission, but encouraged us and told me to sincerely wish our daughter happy birthday. The atmosphere is clean, and modern. There are several options for making your own wrap, or bowl, with an abundance of fresh and nutritious topping choices. Homemade sauces are available to top off your bowl, which are delicious! If you enjoy spicy food, there are several options for that. And many choices for those who are vegan or vegetarian. The food quality is exceptional. On my way back from San Francisco to the SFV, we stopped at the Hummus Republic for dinner. This was my first taste of this brand. It operates on the "make your own" model, with wraps, pita and bowls of healthy Mediterranean fast food. While there are other chains in this space, I found Hummus Republic to have ingredients that do not exist at the stores of their competitors. We chose the bowls. One with Lemon Chicken as the protein and the other with Moroccan Steak. What I liked was the option to choose warm garbanzo beans as a base. After that, 3 from a group of different types of Hummus and Spreads. Several protein choices (including falafel) and finally unlimited toppings and dressings. These included chopped cucumber, beets, crispy garbanzos, to name a few. The flavors, textures and tastes blended perfectly. Service was excellent. Only bummer is that they don't have a location in the SFV. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. The service was very good. They were helpful and offer taste samples which was helpful for me. I ended up getting the lemon chicken. I did taste the chicken shawarma and found it to be too salty. The front of the restaurant (tables, chairs and food area was clean; the restroom needs a thorough deep clean and desperately needs to be repainted. While the food and service were good, I would not eat here again until the restroom is cleaned and updated as this is my barometer of the overall health and longevity of an establishment. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. As someone with dietary issues, ie severe gluten allergy, it's so hard to find somewhere to eat around here that is accessible. So, when we found Hummus Republic I was so excited to order! My whole family had all their orders ready, and me and my husband show up at 7:30, hoping they can accommodate us. On their website it says they close at 8o'clock, so when we pull up to see their open sign is on, we're relieved. We rejoice since we're so hungry after a long day and we're very excited to eat here. The second we open the door we are rudely told by the man working the counter that they are closed. As someone who has worked in restaurants, specifically fast food, I've had people come in a minute before closing and I will always feed them. I found this very rude, I understand pre-closing, as the chairs and tables were put away, but simply refusing service 30 minutes before you close is ridiculous. Safe to say, this Hummus Republic location will no longer have me or any members of my family as a customer. read more

Well, you're certainly not going to go hungry at homeless republic. There are plenty of things to choose from tons for vegetarian including a delicious vegan beef option. My wife and I had a low-key date night here not too long ago. We both enjoyed what we got. Ordering was a little complicated as we've never been there before and you have to see what all the choices are and understand the process. We kept being surprised that there was an upcharge for one thing or another that we wanted which wasn't particularly clear or called out on the menu, so our meal end up costing more than we thought it would. But it was still tasty. The food was fresh. There are interesting beverage options, and if you're looking for a healthy quick and relatively inexpensive meal in the Mediterranean genre of food, this is probably just the place for you. My husband likes spicy items and enjoyed the chickpeas base, spinach, with traditional hummus, tzatziki, and a spicy hummus. He chose the lemon chicken for his protein and added pickled red cabbage, a dill cabbage. red onions, beets, and crunchy chickpeas topped with Grandma's spicy dressing.
