Smetz's Tire came up and I gave them a call and was informed that early afternoons would be the best time of day for walk ins. That turned out to accurate info, as the work on our vehicle was able to done right away -- Not having to wait was much appreciated, BUT, what really impressed me was that the "reminder" sticker placed on my front window, once the work was completed, indicated the next recommended oil change was listed at a 7500 mile interval. That is the number that our car manufacturer recommends, but my previous quick oil change location had always recommended it be changed at 3500 miles. I raised concerns about that number with employees of that establishment, but was given some B.S. corporate answer -- So if you are looking for GREAT and honest car service, I suggest you check out Smet'z, in Ashland (OH).

My Experience with Firestone…read more I hate complaining, especially because I'm in the customer-service business myself, but I feel like I need to say something. I took my car to Firestone multiple times for the same issue. After several visits, I was told the problem had been resolved. I was driving to work when my car suddenly died. I popped the hood and noticed that my battery cables were loose. That immediately concerned me. How does something that basic get missed after my vehicle has been serviced multiple times? It also made me question whether everything I was told I needed during those visits was actually necessary. I called the store to express my concerns. I wasn't looking for anything unreasonable--I simply wanted to know why the mechanic missed something that ultimately left me sitting on the side of the road. I was told they would have to ask the mechanic and get back to me. They never did. I then called the 1-800 number. I was told an area manager would contact me. A month went by, and I never heard from anyone. I called again and asked to speak with someone above the area manager. Again, nothing happened. Eventually, after several calls, the area manager finally contacted me. I called him back within 30 minutes, but then days went by. When I finally reached him, I was told he was busy and given a very specific time several days later when he could talk to me. At that point, I was simply exhausted from trying to get someone to address my concerns. So I told him, "This isn't worth my time anymore. I'm done." His response was essentially, "I'm sorry to hear that." And that was it. No real explanation. No attempt to make things right. No effort to understand why I was upset. Eventually, it felt like they simply wore me down until I gave up. I'm not writing this to attack anyone. I'm sharing it because if you use Firestone, be very specific about what you're asking for, keep your paperwork, and write things down. Make sure you understand exactly what work is being done to your vehicle and why. Hopefully, someone else can avoid the frustration I experienced.
